Why not give half of that public grazing land to elk. 58% of the national forest in Idaho are also grazed. Why not 100% for the elk? Total percent of cattle industry earnings from these rocky mountain states compared to the whole United States. Idaho total cattle production is 2.24% of the total US earnings of cattle production. Utah only 0.91%. Wyoming 1.81% Montana 2.34%.

@Greed76 I agree, because one wolf family can provide food for a large variety of species (the scavengers, bears) and they take out the weak and sick. Human hunters feed their family but in no way help the environment, besides culling a herd slightly. Or majorly in some cases, which does not help.
@TheBlueRainWolf Are you a hunter. I happen to know wildlife biologists who specialize in elk migrations and so forth. Hunters are a major impact in creating sustainable elk populations. Wolves on the other hand are desimating the elk herds in Montana.

Because of civilization, they have been forced to live in what remains of untamed land, land that is not taken up by cattle. And that remaining land consists of 4 or 5 states, including Montanna.
You have also forgotten the fact that less than 2.5 percent of domesticated cattle is TRUTHFULLY killed by wolves every year, what are they supposed to eat?

@4dmghunt You have also forgotten that there are quite unknown numbers of feral dogs roaming around the countryside, and those dogs Will kill very occasionally for fun (because they are chasing it as a game, maybe with no intention of actually killing it). Those dogs will kill wild prey as well as domestic cattle, and sadly most of their actions have been blamed on wolves, and now there are pups in and around your state that are being killed when they are only between 6 months or even days old.

Hunters murder more deer/elk per year than wolves do and wolves kill for survival however people like you probably kill to stuff your puffy face. In Scotland where I live there are too many deer and many will die because there won't be enough vegatation to feed all the herds. I just saw a show that proved wolves kill sick,old and some young animals. The result? the weak animals (genetic) are weeded out and the animals that are left thrive...and are thriving as a whole. Silica kills more buffalo, elk by destroying their teeth.. (something unique to Yellowstone).they starve to death because their teth are gone/bad.. (unless the wolves get to them first.) Either way..wolves have their place. I wouldn't kill them for sport. I'd rather open season on some 2 legged rats.

Cattle grazing is the elks biggest enemy I kid you not. In Idaho 65% of the land is used for grazing. Why not give half of that public grazing land to elk. 58% of the national forest in Idaho are also grazed. Why not 100% for the elk? Total percent of cattle industry earnings from these rocky mountain states compared to the whole United States. Idaho total cattle production is 2.24% of the total US earnings of cattle production. Utah only 0.91%. Wyoming 1.81% Montana 2.34%.

@Greed76 I agree, because one wolf family can provide food for a large variety of species (the scavengers, bears) and they take out the weak and sick. Human hunters feed their family but in no way help the environment, besides culling a herd slightly. Or majorly in some cases, which does not help.

Because of civilization, they have been forced to live in what remains of untamed land, land that is not taken up by cattle. And that remaining land consists of 4 or 5 states, including Montanna.
You have also forgotten the fact that less than 2.5 percent of domesticated cattle is TRUTHFULLY killed by wolves every year, what are they supposed to eat?

@4dmghunt You have also forgotten that there are quite unknown numbers of feral dogs roaming around the countryside, and those dogs Will kill very occasionally for fun (because they are chasing it as a game, maybe with no intention of actually killing it). Those dogs will kill wild prey as well as domestic cattle, and sadly most of their actions have been blamed on wolves, and now there are pups in and around your state that are being killed when they are only between 6 months or even days old.

I spent a week trying to find a moose of anysort and was told by one of the park rangers that in the last survey conducted over the last years wildlife counts that there are zero moose in the park. Defenders of Wildlife should be ashamed of themselves and consider a different name for their group.

Any person who can think with even a small amount of logic can see that it was our own mistakes that led to this disaster and that we need to do all we can to help the Wolf prosper once again. And as I also work directly with them, I know that wolves aren't some vicious creatures that only think of killing. You guys think that they ruin OUR hunting, but WE are ruining THEIR hunting. Their entire species depends on there being game for them to hunt. The reason that game is becoming less is because WE are over hunting them. If both the wolves, who NEED the prey, and us, who mainly do it for sport are killing them, then of course game is going to thin out. Stop taking THEIR food.

The wolves should have much more of a right to the elk than elk hunters because wolves need meat to survive. They have no choice. Hunters have a choice. They don't need elk to survive and they know this. Wolves killing livestock is natural wolf behvaior, going after easy prey. Farmers don't watch over their cattle.

I wonder why this video didn't show the hundreds of elk and deer that wolves just kill and leave. Or the piles of female elk and deer that have been killed by wolves only to have the unborn baby inside ripped out and left! Some wolves are vital for a healthy ecosystem, but the tree huggers won't tell you that there are way to many of them. The state is going to loose millions of dollars because the hunting is going to shit. Let the fish and game manage the wolves with hunting tags!

Very true. It goes without saying that human hunters kill for sport and for the fun of it. Wolves do surplus kill sometimes, but hunters take this as wolves killing for sport or for the fun. First off, hunters kill for sport and for fun, so who are they to get angry that wolves kill for sport even tho they really don't? I just saw a show that proved wolves kill sick,old and some young animals. The result? the weak animals (genetic) are weeded out and the animals that are left thrive...and are thriving as a whole. Silica kills more buffalo, elk by destroying their teeth.. (something unique to Yellowstone).they starve to death because their teth are gone/bad.. (unless the wolves get to them first.) Either way..wolves have their place. I wouldn't kill them for sport. I'd rather open season on some 2 legged rats.

Yeahh you also have to look at it like this, without the balance put in place by Yellow Stone National park many of the animals that reside there would more than likely go extinct if we did not control certain factors... great example is the gray wolf which we introduced into the park..
