Had the same , by big end on the crankshaft broke and my conrod smashed a whole in the case, same place like you , same engine aswell. Was this what happend to you? iv ran 1.5 liters of 20% nitro includes run in period, They replaced my engine tho!
had something similar on a savage .28 except the hole was on the side. didnt want to scap it because it still had amazing compression, so a $20 rod and some jb weld and it's still running great. trick was to file down the hole at an angle so that the jb weld would be stuck in the block
OFNA is awesome with replacements $60 and you get a new motor. I've seen this type of thing happen twice once to a .28 and the other to their .32. The key is to really break them in slow. I did ten tanks in my .32 and have never had a problem.
you ever have problems with your throttle sticking open? just wondering mind i didnt get but a half of a gallon an the tires come unglued, the throttle sticks wide open, the center diff didnt even have fluid in it an the steering servo didnt even last 2 rounds around the track. they wont take care of me they said they dont warrenty run-a-ways but it would not have happen if the would have manufactured it right. But it was my fault go figure. lol
@roostertails250 My man don't get upset, easy fixes for you. Throttle sticking , slap a return spring or rubberband(nitro will eat it) on the carb. =fixed. Tires Re-Glue em,we all do it. RTR R/C's pretty much always have dry diffs, just a bit of grease to get by.I used 7k center diff,3k front and 5krear(I dont race).ALWAYS re-tighten ALL hardware on RTR stuff (locktite). Steering servo,Ive been doing this for a bit I know to JUNK RTR servo's,so I bought a steering servo the day I bought the LX
@Techcaveman1 well good news i talked to a different guy up there an got the prob solved an most of the time with rtr nitros i run JR metal geared servos an yes i did put them in as for tires i new i wasnt running the stockers for long so i ordered crime fighters an of course 2.4 radio we found out the throttle servo had a dead spot tis caused the crash so he hooked me up with replacement parts minus the servos i told him to keep them. an trust me I know about slap together rtr's.
I have a hand modified force .28 and it screams!!! With a single speed it owns the locals and guy who spendcubic dollars. For the record I modified it myself.
The Force .28 is an awesome motor. Mine ran prob 4 gallons w/18t bell and 086 pipe before it came undone like yours. I leaned mine too much racing and looked exactly like yours. Bought another 1 for $130. 60mph easy. Temps usually 280F. Very consistent & fast. I'd run it against Axial or Losi anyday! Wicked cheap power
I have a LX One with a force .28 and have ran the hell out of it for 9 months now and the only trouble I ever had was tuning it when I broke it in, I have several Rc's including Revo, Jato and this is my favorite, We race the heck out of them in Collinsville IL, and the LX One is a track favorite, I think you got a Bad motor or the factory break in settings where too lean on the bottom end, mine was so lean it was stalling out of the box..Good Luck;)
ive seen it happen what happens is if you land while the piston is coming down the force breaks off the end of the crank and sends the little piece out of the bottom
my .28 has two years with me that motor still running, what did ofna do for you finally? it sucks to spend 500 dollars and have a blown engine after one gallon....
how r the ez starts for the ofna lx ones ??? i had my throttle get stuck in full and ramed right into the only car around the dirt pit mine lol bent the whole chassis up and the front drive shaft about 90' angle lol ouch but i love the car fast it is
i agree with revopwns, i had mine for about a year now and have gone threw many gallons and raced it more than a few times without any issues, i broke it in very easy, i idled it for 2 tanks before i even hit the gas, then i drove it easy for another few tanks.
Yeah I picked up the new Ultra MBX w/ force .26. Motor was so hard to crank it broke the gears in the electric start, bought a new torque starter plate broke as well. Took it to LHS and we determined maybe the compression was just high "a good thing right." So I got a OFNA bumb starter. It struggled to start it as well. Well now I got a whole. The prob is a factory defect. The crank was rubbing the bottom of the case, at high rpm it washes the oil out and bam. OFNA said 2.5 wks to rep.
well the engine sleeve is to tight. and by breaking in the engine it loosens the sleeve up. if you dont break in the engine correctly it causes the piston to get to tight on the piston sleeve then the piston rod comes out the bottum of the engine.
thats odd. ive had mine for 5 months, multiple gallons ran through it and it still runs like a top. i broke it in easy and slow "under 1/4 throttle and very rich" for 8 tanks and then bought the .28 backplate to eliminate pull start. obviously u have to buy a bump starter but by eliminating the pull start u increase compression
(more compression=more power)
i can't say that by using a backplate will eliminate this crank pin issue but i haven't had any problems. idk just giving some input
i got my force for alot of month to and he never break. same as you i replace the pullstart by a backplate starter. i also got a jammin jp-4 pipe and my engine are still running great after 5 gallon.. maybe no breakin or bad tunning... then whit your new engine teachcaveman try to go whit 25 or 30% nitro ... the engine is for performant and coolder in temp... i'm running at 235-245 and i'm verry lean XD!
245 is a perfect temps :O . Your car can not break because of that temp. I'm running at 250 and my lx one still run great after 6 gallon of fuel. I personaly prefer 30%!
the exact same thing happen to me today big ass hole at the bottem of my engine this engine has a lot of power but what the fuck like make it fucking not blow up fucking dumb people that dont now how to make a motor
come on man i know you have his email or phone number for the go kart. all you have to do is give me his email or phone number and i will never message you again.
The EXACT same thing happened to my Force.25 Today i was running 25% the engine died so i checked it out and the crank pin snapped so the conrod must have blown a hole in the bottom. :(
mine did the EXACT SAME THING in my Jammin CRT RTR in about the same amount of time. i called ofna too, and they said i was on my own. i took the engine apart to examine and found the problem. the pin on the back of the crank (that the bottom of the rod fits on) has a spring inside it. that sping came out and got lodged between the rod and the side of the crank case and broke the pin off the crank, thus letting the rod free of the rod and slamming down into the bottom on its final stroke.
P.S. if you buy the back plate to convert it to bump start, this problem will NEVER happen again (because the spring inside the crank is only for pull/roto start)
if its hard to pull it is probably fluded so take out the glow plug and stick a clean rag over the glow plug whole and pull it a couple of times. try that.
the force 28 is an awesome motor, but they dont last long. The one in my GTP took a crap today, The sleeve turned inside the block and it would hardly run and backfire. Im gonna try and reassemble it with the sleeve back in the right spot, see what happens. I have 2 spares though.
I thought those wee rc car engines were near indestructable. Were you kicking the things ass when it blew on you? Did it still run with that hole there for a few moments?
actually I was having a blast then NOTHING, it was like running out of fuel without that last rise in rpm's. OFNA replaced it free.... and im at it agian. I will put up some vids of the buggy soon.
i got my ofna lx one in today and i was gust wonderin does ur kinda make a springy clunky noise when u try to start it. it started up fine but it kinda woried me please reply.
hay mate i think u may have just had bad luck with this motor i have the force 28 in my hyper st and it hammers great motor for bashing but doesnt have the revs for real top end racing check out my vid
