Our Catholic church choir in Virginia sings this during Mass in Lent, in addition to pieces by Lotti, Victoria, Croce, and Victoria. You just gotta know where to sing ;) .
@vabman2 Our little white church is about 10 miles West of DC, unfortunately, in Northern Virginia. There's another traditional Catholic Church, which may still have a clue about music, in Richmond -- Our Lady of Fatima. Best of Graces to you, and let me know when you may be coming up North :) .
I used to sing this superb piece during Lent time in the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro's Choir, lead by Maestrina Professor Lydia Podolroski. (It is quite challenging)
Years ago the St. Paul Cathedral Choir in Pittsburgh sang this. We had singers from all over the city longing to be a part of the great music program. The director has long since passed away. Now they do the same crap that the other Ameican churches are doing although they do it well. Once in a while, they'll perform one of these age old pieces.European Roman Catholics still do great music...in America, not so much . But, there are still pockets of traditional music being sung at Mass.
Why do i keep coming back here and sing the bass line? I really enjoy this piece!

Hi,
May I ask where in Virginia your church is located? I am in Roanoke. Thanks and I hope to hear from you.

We did this in High school! I love this song! It is so very Holy and beautiful!
I sang the bass line. It's funny how 30 years later you still remember your part like you sang it yesterday!
