Ok there's a nice thing about this game and a lot of bad things. This is a very innovative thing to PLAY AS A GAME. But the guitar messed it up for the whole game. I like that you can play with six strings but this is supposed to be a "fender squier stratocaster". Usually a strat has 3 pickups not two (unless it is under a specially made line of strats) I agree with other people that this will brainwash kids and teens thinking that this is a good enough guitar to last them throughout their live

I have one of these guitars. As a real guitar, it's not very good. Sound sucks. But as an instrument to learn a real guitar, nothing beats this.

It's fun and awesome at the same time. Great for anyone who has never touched or even seasoned vets looking for a new fun way to play guitar.

UGH WHY THE FUCK CANT THEY DO THIS EXACT THING.. 1) make a amp chord that has a usb plug on the end so u can plug it into your xbox. so i can use my actual guitar(then again if the technology is in the guitar then i can see how it wouldnt work)(but in the future this could be possible) 2) have that little thing that presses up on the strings an attachment also. 3)i just want to buy the game and a special amp cord cause its worth it. not a 300$ guitar =(

@guitarpro925 you cant have the technology in just a special amp cord because the sensors have to be on your guitar's fingerboard in order to detect which notes are you playing. What you're suggesting would have to have some sort of wireless frequency detector and that'll definitely cause even a bit of lag between your playing and the game. Its either that or they install an electronics system thats worth a few hundred bucks on every single guitar to make them compatible with the game.

I picked mine up today and after 2 hours I have a couple of thoughts -

1) it accurately tracks the fret you are fretting.

2) You have to strike the string way too hard to get it to register. This makes it difficult to play and unnatural.

3) The neck is plastic and hollow.

I am returning mine tomorrow.

Brands like Gibsons has epiphone wich are really awsome guitars...but Epiphone can't offet quality guitars not because they can't but because Fender won't let them...why? Because Fender wants you to buy Fender...and you can get a Squire to "preview" the Fender quality. I bought a Behringer metalien in a pawn shop that features a one piece neck and rosewood. I have a Jackson King V worth more than a thousand and the neck is 2 piece.

I love to read all these posers talking about the "real" way to learn. The real way to learn is the way that works for the person learning. Most of us learned on a cheap instrument to start and those that got it, usually will upgrade. Anyone that goes out and buys a 3,000.00 guitar before they know how to play it is more ignorant in my opinion. I've been in the business for 30+ years and I say more power to anything that gets someone in to playing music, to hell with the posers.

The most important thing about learning to play ANY instrument is getting the motivation to learn in the first place and for some people this may be it. Plus the quality of this rock band guitar may not be great as a real guitar (though I haven't seen it), so fender probably didn't want to put their real brand name on it.

@spartandx That's because your guitar is an actual ELECTRIC GUITAR with instrument cable input. This is a MIDI guitar and has a different input. The tone is controlled much differently than your standard guitar, so of course yours is going to sound better, even with its shitty Pups.

@Xitlalic Yes the guitar itself is capable of outputting both an analog and MIDI signal to use the guitar as a game playing device you'll need an extra midi conversion device which I would imagine comes with the guitar, but yes this is a MIDI guitar.

@BiZinatChos not at all, this guitar has a standard MIDI output. Roland makes midi pickups and output converters for professionals (you can do a whole techno music with only your guitar and a pc)

there is alsso some smallboxes that transform analog guitar output into midi signals.

Midi is the market standard for eletronic signals that has "music" information, Rockband just made a MIDI PRO converter to use that standard.

the rockband specific converter runs about 40 grand, but you need MIDI OUT

Really? It's not just a decent regular guitar (Squiers aren't always bad), it's completely new type of MIDI guitar, it actually knows where you're fretting instead of just turning a picked up noted into a MIDI note (which is crazy), and a rock band controller, and it's cheap as dirt (as guitars go). I mean, I won't buy one, because I don't have use for a rock band controller, or a MIDI controller, but it's still pretty awesome.

For the next rock band they should incorporate a solo thing for the guitar like how the drums get their overdrive power. Except when you solo on the guitar for the song the game detects if the notes ur playing are in the key of the song or not. and then you should be able to record the solo and post it on an online shredboard to show off ur skills lmao.
