Found the issue. For some reason, the crabs are able to fall through the platform if you activate the switch while standing below them, but not if the switch is located above them.

This isn't working for me because the crab doesn't fall through the platform that the statue is perched on. Maybe a recent change?

Corrupt goldfish also spawn in the Corruption. Have you tried building a factory there?
