Great review. I purchased this phone back in Dec. 31st. I love it so much! It reminds me of a Sidekick, but for the older crowd and smarter. ;)

Is depends, if you're in an area with wifi and its open or you have the access credentials then you can use the internet for free by feeding off the wifi.
Otherwise you'll need some form of data plan to use the Internet without wifi, depending on your location these can be reasonably inexpensive and the G1 uses 3G so its still pretty fast.

They actually feel very solid and sturdy although they are inclined to creak a bit when squeezed because of the fold out keyboard but this also feels strong and well attached.
Not easy to break in my opinion.

great review! when you have the keyboard open, and when your txting, is the left side (with the scroll and buttons) annoying?

Actually, I haven't found any problems with the left side when txting with the keyboard.
The layout provides a lot of clearance and the buttons are flush so there is no real chance of pushing them accidentally :)
