What I understand is you need to set the tracker in order to run the system. So it means it is not active all the time. Maybe if they can make a combined attack on the tracker (It does not look like it can stand against this kind of attack) with small arms and anti tank tank missile to the main target at the same time. The system can be penetrated.

roughly the size of a bottle of coke, which makes it very hard to hit, and its covered in an armor plate thick enough to hold up to considerable abuse(its designed to be mounted on a tank after all).

Also the tracker is very small to target but still I think that it can be damaged by small arms otherwise why they didn't do it stationary?. Ultimately it is one of the greatest inventions on the battlefield I saw so far. But nothing is indestructible.....

@lahavhaelohim Maybe I used a wrong word. What I understand is the tracker is a kind of radar but its not a "fixed" equipment like other kind of radars we usually see. There is a mechanical system that fix this tracker to its location when you turn the system on. This made me think that this is because the the tracker is too sensitive to be exposed all the time. Also there might be spare parts which the mechanical system replaces when the unit is damaged.

Any how the current HKCM's should deform the SABOT round severely enough to make it ineffective against armor.

@Kapitan234 This Trophy is from Rafael, Iron Fist is from IMI, the problem is that the Trophy's rader and computers are alot less better then the Iron Fist one but it does destroys the missiles in a better way.

in 2010 it was decided by rafael and IMI to merge those two system into the real ultimate APS. :)

problem is that it also adds considerably to the overall weight of the AFV, and its not practical for use on anything that isn't already an AFV.

Also check out the clip for 'Bofors - BILL 2 anti-tank guided weapon', its dual warhead, down-attacking, and ERA negating - nasty..! Although I think Trophy would disintegrate it.

1)RPG's have a 1/10 the range of Kornets, which means having to wait until the tanks are so close it takes away the Kornets range advantage.

2)Trophy has a LOT of ammo per unit, and reloading it is simple.

3)Merkava are designed to travel through terrain that most tanks can't, so the "Paths" aren't so clear.

4)Anti tank mines are, at best, situational weapons

5)mines are easily removed if placed in "Obvious" paths.

In fact the close range of an attack will probably jam Trophy quicker then firing from far away. Then a Kornet will be used to deal the final blow. Israel better try their luck quickly before the Russians make the Trophy system obsolete in another 4 years.

next round, the majority of the tanks would be the Newer MK4 ones (the ones that even a Kornet only has a 1/3 chance against), most equipted with Trophy, and with better infantry support (becuase of the Namer APCs), and leadership that knows how to treat a war like its a war.

How exactly it can go, where other tanks can't? :) Merkava is designed for Middle East, mostly rocky and solid desert terrain, with no water obstacles. There it has perfect mobility. Put it in Europe, Russian tundra or Malaysian jungle and will stop there, where other tanks can keep going.
