  • 173 reasons to use condoms!

  • The Kinks and the Who > The Beatles

  • @Junkpunker21 The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd > The Rolling Stones.

  • Jimmy Page

  • I am so loving the lead break and the dance moves that go with it........makes me hot!!!!!!

  • haha i know this from Battlefield Vietnam xD

  • Wow this song is way ahead of it's time

  • This was the first song to define rock guitar as its own style. It wasn't based on blues, folk, jazz or country. It was purely rock. From this point forward, EVERY guitarist either wanted to capture that element or avoid it.

  • @bondhughbond That would be Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley & the Comets in 1952. That was the first mainstream success of modern Rock & Roll. The guitar solo in that song is pretty sweet.

  • we'd heard nothing like this at the time-the Beatles were very lyrical and popular, but the Kinks were the creators of original heavy rock

  • I miss the kinks

  • The kinks such a modern sound way ahead of their time the first time i heard them i was 12 and i thought they were an 80`s band

  • @papasmurf277 aha I just saw your comment, yeah I agree I couldn't believe this was the 50s!

  • THIS LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WAS MADE IN 1966, WAY AHEAD OF THEIR TIME...ADD SOME DISTORTION TO IT AND YOU HAVE ONE OF THE HEAVIEST SOUNDS IN MUSIC HISTORY.

  • @tvvdo I can't hear the distortion for all the shouting going on. I guess lc must be broke on your box.

  • The Young Veins brought me here.

  • born in 88, but raised on this music.

  • WOW I cant believe it I just saw one of the first bands of ROCK!

  • @tstmhd Actually no. You'd have to go back a decade for that and cross the pond. Anyway, this is generally called Brit Pop. Was at the time and still is today.Rock 'n Roll began as a melding together of country, urbanized blues and jazz. All of these are original American genres. It began that way and for the greater part remains that way today.

  • @p7scordova You really think that a shitty generic indie band did better at one of the most influential songs in history? Take your crap elsewhere. Long live the oldies!

  • viva los kinks

  • Genial

  • ------When i was a teenager i thought part of the lyrics were---( girl you got me so i cant see black night) - --in my band im going to put that in there----------

  • Messi on drums....

  • VIVA LA INVASION BRITANICA!!!

  • No...Fuck you, bollpwnbay you little pussy.

  • 0:06 Messi

  • Now Sixties music to me is like the best. They is still some talent today but nah, still sixties had all the best ones :)

  • OH MAN I JUST GOTTA MOVE,,9.30 AM IN MY PJS AND I GOTTA DANCE ,,,,OH LOOORD

  • american shit in vietnam was a war crime. did anyone go to trial for it? no. fuck you america.

  • @bollpwnbay We have about as much control over our country as you have over yours. The People don't call the shots here, all that "by the people for the people" is bullshit. Just like all these seedy commy countries if you talk too loud and make too much noise you may go bye bye.We shoot our peace college protestors here. Why, we even shoot at our vets(ww1 MacArthur the 1932 "bonus march") that protest for better benefits! It's a evil human nature that gravitates towards power.

  • @HammerFist1970 Human nature is not evil. Evil stems from cowardice and the denial of nature. If you want to be an idealist, that's fine. If you want to push your notions of the ideal on other people, re-read my second sentence above. You are entirely correct if you see that it doesn't matter what somebody names the local social order. From one end of this world to the other and from one epoch to another, the situation is nearly exactly the same.

  • British pop was the best part of the 60's

  • this record ahead of its time the guitar middle 8 was futuristic

  • why cant the world be like this now, why cant the world be this awesome

  • I was born in the wrong year! i should have been born in the 50's so I could grow up to this music

  • @PantherCamaro Ditto

  • @PantherCamaro What, you wanna be 58 years old? I'll trade places with you.

  • @PantherCamaro

Well, you still have time to grow up with this music, as well as music from other eras.

    Enjoy the buffet.

  • @PantherCamaro i know you are just making a joke/comment, but i hate it when people say this. You can be like me, enjoy the music from back then and the music now. if anything i would rather be born in the future where great artists like this exist and many more :)

  • @PantherCamaro My 21 year old son says the same thing. One thing, you'd be in your 50's now!

  • @PantherCamaro

It was the '60's, lol. Part of the British Invasion.

  • @PantherCamaro you still can grow up with this music...

  • @PantherCamaro

I was born in 1954 and i love 60's music. I wish I was born in 1890 so I could have heard Charlie Patton live.

  • So simply and in the same time so great

  • WTF happened in Britain in the sixties? Was like every band had huge talent.

  • @rdsnuke Ill tell you what happened, everyone smoked pot, most bands did LSD and other psychadelic drugs, these drugs open your mind up and you start to think differently:) So all of these bands were basically breaking free from the system and going nuts!

  • the best part is 0:00 at 2:10 ,

  • i will never understand the guitar above the waist... it just looks awkward

  • @hartland20lacrosse It's actually much easier to play in that position. Lower than the waist is awkward, I think. You have to kinda bend over to reach the neck properly. Although I don't quite have it as high as them, I only have my guitar just above the waist.

  • Our British music is something that should never be forgotten and live on forever!!

  • At 2:11 I was like WTF???

  • Beatles, Kinks, Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Animals, Hollies, Who, Animals......what an ocean of phenomenal music.

  • @schultz970 LED ZEPPELIN!!!

  • @AirBallers31 ABSOLUTELY - I was just running down the list of the original British Invaders that I love.

  • so the kinks singer was where they got autin powers from? yea bbabby!

  • @blisterpacman Nope. Look for peter and gordon.

  • van halen did to these guys what five finger death punch did to bad company...

  • Yeah... the 60's. I hear the music, I see the jungle and I smell the napalm..... when it was all over, it was EUPHORIA... that's what I'm talking about: The freedom after Vietnam.... to do what you wanted to do inpeace and listen to ALL that great music!!

  • @thephilster57 You smell the napalm? Really? Cuz I've yet to meet a vet who would ever remember that smell willingly.

  • @thephilster57 The Vietnam "conflict" ended in 1975.

  • @thephilster57 Nam wasn't over until like 1975 man. WTF? We had just got into it when this song hit the charts.....

  • @thephilster57, there was no "after Vietnam" in the 60's. Vietnam ran until the end of the decade and into the 1970's. So your illusion about peace in a decade when 4 important leaders in the US were assassinated - JFK, Robert Kennedy, MLK, and Malcolm X - not to mention the various racial killings and police brutality as well as war atrocities by Americans and Vietnamese alike, is BS fueled by the media. Liking the music from a decade doesn't justify sugar-coating history

  • @KnowYourReps you should be a history teacher or something

  • @KnowYourReps I agree with all your comments except one thing....the world could have done better without the like of another domestic racial terrorist like malcom X. He was just as bad as any other racist leader in history. White, Black, Brown, Yellow or red he was still a racist and a man who encouraged violence

  • @thephilster57 It didn't really plan out though did it man. Pot is still illegal. Governments are still as corrupt as ever. Peace and love is wonderful message but it seems to me that it didn't really do squat except perhaps bring the message to a wider conciousness.

Maybe in 20-30 years people will be citing the 60's as an early influence for a then more eco-concious world. But who knows?

  • punk /metal/rock ... it doesn't really get much more raw and authentic does it?

  • GOD BLESS THE KINKS AND THE 60'S !! :)

  • The bassist is tiny ! :P

  • This song really kicks ass everytime I hear it! =D

  • Just noticed Ray bears a fair resemblance to Noel Fielding! Maybe he's Noel's dad? :)

  • you really got me, you really got me! <3

    I love it!

  • noise-smoish

  • ha, the last 30 seconds really made my day

  • oh yeeeeeeaaaaaaaah!

  • great music wooop

  • The kinks, Real punk Rock!

  • you don't hear about the kinks much now adays...

  • Dio come spaccano....

  • The Kinks could have been a big part of the UK invasion of America if they had not been banned from US venues for messing with the AFTRA union in the mid-sixties. That cost them millions.

  • REALLY AWESOME !! that was real music, hah

  • its released in agust 1964 :)

    amazing style they has

  • what year is this?

  • That is myth about Jimmy Page being involved with this song. They just don't want to give Dave Davies full credit for using a distorted guitar and creating one of the first heavy metal/punk songs.

  • what ever happened to the good songs

  • Comment removed

  • @1galvy they died

  • yeaaaahhhh

  • como se nota que los strokes tienen influencias de los kinks

  • @Goenitz69 First rock song in history!

  • Comment removed

  • @Goenitz69 I thought it was the first proto-punk song? Same diff?

  • @Goenitz69 Nah, it was Eddie Cochran's "Somethin' Else".

  • @Goenitz69 hard rock solo :D

  • that shit that kicks off at 2:10 - that's what runs round my head every time i shut my eyes.

    welcome to my world

  • ....the fuck was that crap at the end after the song? :D

  • @Whatever1076 apparently it was the most uncoordinated group to ever assemble in one place.

  • @gl797 And to think, the Kinks were their opening act!

  • With old videos like this, I want to know how many media formats it went through to get to Youtube... 16MM film --> reel-to-reel tape --> U-matic --> VHS --> DVD --> MP4 file --> low bitrate youtube MP4 file :p

  • Comment removed

  • @Vampfire96 Nope you didn't miss many, just the Animals lol. House of the rising sun remains my most fave song of all time. But this is a kinks thread and I love them !!!!!

  • @misred1 I do too! I'm friends with Dave Davies on FB and have Ray and Mick's autographs...I love them XD

  • They look like a Beatles rip off. Look like, but aren't.

  • 166 people don't like The Kinks

  • @SaucyCarrot

  • I just got the discography.

400 songs from the Kinks! That should keep me entertained for at least 2 years!

  • After the Kinks invent heavy rock, we hear the frantic, flailing death throes of cheezy white pop.

  • @iburl soz mate but as much as I like the heavy rock I hardly count Abbey road, the white album, and Sgt Peppers lonely hearts club band as the failing death throes of cheesy white pop.
