Sincerely, I feel they are improving every album. 12 guage, For the revolution, The Black Waltz is way way better than the previous ones. I mean the music has definitely improved over the years. Hats off to the best musicians ever :)
Kalmah is the only band I can think of that just keeps getting better and better as they release albums. I'll always love their older ones but seriously this is fucking amazing o.o
I was on Double concert of Kalmah, double Metal camp, double time in front of the stage, i nearly got wristband from Pekka:) it was awesome, already got a signed pick, but that wristband was just sooo awesome. Damn, I should really jump higher next time heh. I'm happy with that tough. It's just they are some how not that good live, i don't know, they just don't kick fucking ass like they do on studio record. But i still like them:) Wintersun busted their ass :)
@FireLysm I loved them live, but I've got to say I preferred their set in 2010 on the second stage. Somehow the atmosphere felt better there under the trees
They changed their sound without simplifying it at all. That's what I'm fucking talking about, that's what I signed up for when I bought their old classical stuff. Melodeath Lives :D. The bridge in this is nothing but Epic, innovative, classical arpeggios. And all the other Melodic bands that started up in the Baltic Countries back then are now poser MetalCore bands.
Kalmah is the only band I've come across in the past year who's albums I can listen to no matter which one it is. Usually I just like certain songs from bands or specific albums.
KAAAAALLAAAAMAHHHHH!... just got out of jail.. was in for 6months.. sooo great to here this new shit.. wow... i might b going back to jail if anyone finds the body i just slaughtered while listening to this song.. fuck yah.. stay metal out there
The "12 Gauge" album is a killer! It's incredibly powerful! A few songs (such as Godeye, One Of Fail, Swampwar etc) are even a bit harsh on the heart (as in - the poor thing skipping beats, plus going arrhythmic and ofc hypertonic :D :P) but that's in a very good way :)) I love it! The whole album is awesome but, I do have a fav song... well, ok - a few :D Better Not To Tell is at my "winner place" together with Godeye and One Of Fail.
As for Kalmah's music in general - I adore it! \m/ ^_^ \m/
i fucking love kalmah, and this album is just fantastic, it is very brutal and melodic at the same time, i also love all their other albums, kalmah fuckin rule, they are gods \m/
the blast beat in the intro is perfect !!!

about the mediocre live performance, thats a common thing with bands that have
1)singer that plays guitar at the same time
2)more than 2 guitar tracks on the studio mix of their songs, thus their songs seem "lackluster" live
