  • Why is that noise so scary?

  • @TheRamenMaster It's no longer transmitting so it isn't scary BUT when it was transmitting it was either a numbers station or part of a dead hand nuclear deterrent system.

  • @Doubleplusalpha Awww what a let down :(

  • @TheRamenMaster Turns out I gave you false information, I'd heard it stopped broadcasting but when I went to find out if it was broadcasting it turned out it still is. There's a live feed, even.

  • It sounds like a ship horn.

  • Oh my god...It's scary D:

  • You'd think the thing would run out of power to broadcast eventually, of that at least they could find where it was by trying to figure out where it's getting power from...

    But good god, that's creepy.

And if they have found where it's supposedly being broadcast from, why hasn't it been turned off?

  • @gocanadayayyy It's run by the Russians, presumably by the military.

The Lithuanian ministry for communication said it was to ensure radio operators were alert, and for other testing purposes.

  • be scared when the buzzer stops...

  • Jesus, creepy shit, especially when the signal changed. Have people ever visited the place where it's broadcast?

  • @Jelboo I want to :D

  • @Jelboo

Seems like someone has check this: uvb-76.net/2011/10/our-own-little-wikileaks-and-story-of.html

  • russian smoke monster.

  • It's a secret Russian Brain frequency modifier mechanism. And yes, it's role is to increase fear.

  • @ZZAKON I read that this was used largely during the Cold War and it was aimed at America to try to destabilize minds.

  • @StarryKid06 What a better way to destabilize minds than a short wave radio station that reaches such a large portion of the American public.

  • what would be the point of a staion like this? is this their equivilant of calling the time lady here in america?

  • In Soviet Russia, radio station listens to You...

  • sounds like this is causing *puts on sunglasses* quite a buzz YEAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

  • holy shit. i'm scared for some reason now.

  • To add to my post below, there was also some morse code for about 30 seconds.

  • 12/19/11 Buzzer was off. Monitoring the USB feed, I heard Russian speaking male voice(s), a conversation, and background noises for about an hour last night.Very clearly. Then around 12:30PM est, the buzzer was turned back on.

  • Does anyone else think that Call of Duty Black ops got their idea from this?

  • i feel so violated

  • That picture is very unsettling...

  • :ohgod:

  • I'm not exaggerating when I say this sound is making me physically ill.

I feel nauseous. And I have chills.

Now the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up and I feel myself tearing up.

  • @Winterwolf00 Pussy. The audio from this file is what I wake up to each morning.

  • @Winterwolf00 And just imagine: this thing is being broadcast from a microphone in a room in a radio station that has rarely been frequented. Only visited in decades for that matter. In the middle of nowhere. In the woods. Miles away from anything. Sent through a rusty abandoned radio tower.

    Creeped out yet?

  • @EthanFilms I was creeped out when I first heard about it on TVtropes.

  • @Winterwolf00 cry baby

  • Which Skrillex song is this?

  • Wasn't UVB-76 shut down earlier this year?

  • @Stalinization123 It disappears once in a while, but it was very definately there last time I checked about a week ago.

  • @Hanglands - How do you listen in on it?

  • @Hanglands - Never mind - three seconds of research told me it was a short wave station. Sorry!

  • Если она замолчит, вам всем пиздец...

  • @TheMrObry why? russian missiles are made of paper and wood...

  • @WunderWaffen88

Не будь такой самонадеянной, проект "периметр" живёт вечно, не зависимо от того кто у руля.

Бумага и дерево в совокупности с грязным плутонием сделают своё дело)

ps: Your nigga is still abrupt?)

  • @TheMrObry yeah, dirty plutonium, dirty just as the Russians

  • I got this from Submachine :P

  • beats the shit outta justin bieber

  • Sounds like a jet-ski :|

  • this is scary ,where thehell this signal coming from?

  • @utaMAN12345 Somewhere in Russia.

  • @utaMAN12345 Somewhere in Russia, i think around Moscow.

  • honk honk

  • うちの洗濯機が前日壊れまして、その時もこんな音がしました。ごめんなさい

  • scared the shit out of me 1:26

  • increibble

  • HELL IS HERE.

  • Dammit, is Rebecca Black singing again?

  • There is something about weird broadcasts that creeps me the fuck out.

  • You know, Russia had a protocol in the Cold War that if a nuke were to hit Russia, it would sync up with the silos and see who's alive. If noone was, all Russias nukes would be launched to the United States. Could this tone sync up with that system? Could our very lives depend on the uninterrupted transmission of this tone?

  • @rapture333 lol its not for Dead Hand. Get over it.

Its not about nuclear attacks at all.

This is just station for spies to get messages from their commandors.

  • @RealNarod28 No, you are thinking of numbers stations, which many countries use to contact their spies.

This is a Dead Man's Switch. If it turns off, without a voice announcement and doesn't come back the USA gets nuked.

  • @eveningniteshade No its not. It was turned off for a few days in this year. Nothing happened.

Read wikipedia. And it's not for spies, i was wrong.

I just read it on Russian webforum of radio amateurs (Im from Russia).

They say that it's a radio for military bases to get commands from their commandors.

I'll continue in my next comment.

  • @eveningniteshade For example, when they send over the radio "Ц383 51 893 ПРИОРИТЕТ 06 55 70 92", every base hears it, and the right one somehow understands that the message is directed to them. They open safe with converts, and they choose the right convert according to the message they got over the radio. And it that convert is directions to what to do. Stay calm or move somewhere... who knows :)

  • @eveningniteshade Or maybe you right, and im not. Doesnt matter :) It's a great mistery :)) It proves that USSR was a great country with so many military capabilities that we cant even figure out now:)

  • @RealNarod28 No one knows for sure what it's for so it could be for spies, part of dead hand or just an elaborate prank that's gone on since the cold war to wind up everyone listening to it and make them think it's something important.

Only the most important people in Russia will know the real purpose.

  • @SuperChairmanMeow Probably, yes. But that definately not a prank from Soviet Union :))))

  • @RealNarod28 Yeah I know I just like the idea that they put it as an everlong prank to wind up all the people who spend so much time trying to crack it

  • I'm listening to it live and just now some weird high pitched noise is playing over it too

  • @SuperChairmanMeow where do you listen to it live

  • @MrKoolDom I tune in from SHOUTcast Radio on Winamp

  • Maybe they sync their clocks like this?

  • this would make the most awesome ringtone ever!!!

  • Smoke weed, play the buzzer. Oh FUUU wheres my tinfoil hat!

  • Probably the reason why this is so creepy is because people growing up in the information age are not used to mysteries.

These days you get most of the info you want within 5 minutes of googling it.

  • Rrrrrr.

  • /watch?v=oBKweAEWlSE buzzing

  • Where is my phone?! someone keeps calling me and its vibrating...

  • russian dub-step.

  • @shaftsbury94 Someone should do a dubstep of this, call it UVB 76 Deadhand remix

  • It would be creepier if it was broadcast on television

  • Cool story bro? i mean what is so great about this video? if anything sinister was at play the government would know... if missiles went off everybody would shoot each other with them and we would all go to hell for the years of chronic masturbation and being the dirty whores we are.

  • Jaws

  • Half of the weirdness comes from not knowing what the true purpose of this beeping is. It may as well be something as sinister as the literal "beating heart" of the Dead Mans Hand nuclear retaliation system. Or maybe it just tests the thickness of the ionosphere. Whatever the case Id rather leave it a mystery.

  • @baalguardian has someone been reading wired?

  • Why is this so scary? It scares me too, but I'm not exactly sure why.

  • It sounds like my old printer...

  • You do not seem strange that the activity of the station UVB-76 coincides with the activity of Barack Obama? It should be X-rayed to check Obama. Perhaps he is an alien cyborg, who receives orders to capture the planet.

  • @CENOZOICMAN

He moos 25 times a minute?

  • might be a chainsaw or a sceince experiment with whitenoise

  • might it be a sound that makes a picture, like the portal easter egg with the radios in the game

  • Listening to this alone at night. I couldn't fucking handle it.

  • wtf is UVB-76 xD

  • what's wrong with russians mowing their lawn?

  • it is a count down

  • In Soviet Russia, UVB-76 listens to you!

  • @dronespace fuck you! Stop fucking with me man! This is not fucking funny k?!

  • dubstep

  • Anyone find this noise incredibly... Almost disturbing?

    Uncomfortable?

  • @mrmaster117 Yes I can only listen to this for like 3 or 4 seconds at a time. And not alone, listen with some one else, that's what I say!

  • @mrmaster117 me, omg this shit is scary

  • @mrmaster117 I keep promising myself i wouldnt listen to this late at night but i cant help myself...

  • @mrmaster117 very much so. and i discovered this whole thing at near midnight o_o

  • My internet died when I watched this o__o

  • Sounds like Jaws Main Theme... O_o

  • 1:30 gives me goosebumps and sends chills down my spine. Hot damn what the fuck

  • This message brought to you by the Stihl chainsaw company.

  • It sounds like a lawn mower xD

  • Dat 1:30 hory shet.

  • For all who don't know it's suspected that a group of soviets called The Dead Hand used this station as a signal, their plan was to start a nuclear was if the USSR was brought down but they obviously failed

  • @sumdude3312 realy? can you tell me where i can find more info on this?

  • Shouldn't listen to this at the middle of night...

  • @LotusEsprit90 I did...

  • ...I don't get it, why is this creepy??? What's the purpose of this signal??? There's no way they would just leave it running like that if it didn't serve some purpose, it'd be a waste of electricity.

  • @Piriathy It's creepy because it's supposedly the backbone of Dead Hand system, which is like a failsafe for Russian nuclear weapons. If it stops buzzing, the Russian high command is deemed dead in a nuclear strike, and nuclear retaliation against USA/EU/NATO must be executed.

  • Well, looks like this is causing

    *puts on sunglasses*

    quite a buzz

    YEAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!

  • Sinistro!

  • @crislagoadaprata Realmente é muito sinistro

    Really its very Crazy

  • Its misterious

  • LOST?

  • Grunge?

  • Shut up with that mason shit, it's not funny

  • Why Did I Find This Kind Of Catchy? 0_o

  • I liked 1:26 - 2:26 the best.

  • Rocking out with the Buzzered

  • It's the audio of a cow porn!

  • i can't get a clear signal on my shortwave radio... AM set at 4625 khz, right?? it's just static... i can't even hear a tone at all

  • This shit still scares the fuck out of me, even though I've known about this for years.

  • @tomoom165 Hell yes.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSS!

  • 1:27 WTF IS THAT NOISE?

  • It's next to a microphone, sometimes russian conversations can be heard on this station. Check wikipedia.

  • It sounds like a tortured soul screaming for salvation within the hottest, burning abyss of hell... in endless pain, endless despair, eternal blistering agony beyond imagination...

I don't feel like sleeping right now o.o

  • @bagelfish11 its your grandmum

  • I just thought of something, there might be a second station somewhere else that's very remote (like Siberia) that buzzes at the same rate, but offset so that if one station's buzz is interrupted (in the event of something like Moscow being destroyed), and it's not scheduled, it becomes an intermittent buzz (instead of a constant one, much like what you're hearing) and then if that happens...Well then, I don't know, but it would likely be something bad. Just my theory, though, nothing concrete.

  • can somone please explain why this is so creepy? like... what the hell is it? what is the point? any information please?

  • It's just a buzzer with static noises. Why the fuck am I so freaked out by this? I just turned on all the lights in the room.

  • It's not the buzzes themselves that should be paid attention to, but rather, the ambient signal between them. The buzz, transmitted over a live mike is the interrupt. The long tones are the period between the sequences, which likely repeat when themselves... Theoretically, of course.

  • The picture looks like a person.

  • creepy as hell.

  • Sends chills down my spine

  • Russians say SPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAMSPAM On the radio using this. Old School spamming

  • SCARY

  • Its stopped....... :O

  • Guys, today it just became static. No more buzzing

  • I've never heard the buzzing, but it's scary as fuck.

  • Where can we visit this?

  • This is actually really motherfucking creepy.

I kind of want to cry.

  • probably watching this at 12 in the morning wont help me fall asleep

  • The buzzer noise that starts at about 1:27...that's the sound I'll hear when I die. o_O

  • In soviet russia...

  • It's located in Vorkuta.

  • There's a theory that it's used to measure something to do with the ionosphere by radio waves.

I think the soviets had a radar set up in what is now the Ukraine and was found to be a missile warning system. The radar is still there but it's completely abandoned after the Chernobyl disaster.

  • OMFG guys, It didnt stop broadcasting, it was just a unknown reason but suspected to be a blackout and it shutdown for a while before a generator but the station back on. ugh you can still listen to UVB-76 at play.internet-radio-guide(DOT)net/ambient-radio-online/en/238036/uvb76.html

  • @StafireDavis that link is 404

  • What the Hell??!!!

  • what does the picture mean?

  • @MrBrad713 It's a top down view of where the UVB 76 broadcast is coming from.

  • Can someone provide the lyrics?

  • @TheVideoAnalyst

bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz bzzzzzzzzzzzBZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZ
