Wow, is it true? I feel very honored to get your message. To answer your question, being a long time fan of 50s music, I bought the Sun Records 50th Anniversary CD some years ago. This song was my favorite on the CD the moment I heard it. It was also the first time I heard of Ernie Chaffin and his unique style. Greetings to you and pls say hi to your dad.
hey, thanks for this compliment. I only had the original by Ernie Chaffin in mind when I played this. But now that you mention the Shadows, I guess it's the bass notes at the beginning combined with the reverb that reminds of The Shadows. Or maybe the sound of the solo. Wonderful Land? :-)
Thanks very much, I appreciate this. I like the sound of the Epiphone too. I think it has an early 60s sound (think Beatles and Stones). But probably 50% of the sound is due to the amp which is a Yamaha DG60-112. It's a good one.
Top job, well done, one of my favourite songs!

I recorded Ernie in the 80's a fine man and a great voice. His Son and daughter are planning to do something with us soon.

Do I hear a slight Hank Marvin / Shadows influence? If so, not a bad thing.
