I wonder if Icke was simply dissatisfied with life, being the "runt" at Grandstand, only used when the big presenters were on holiday? He was a decent enough journalist. As he himself says, he burned his bridges to the past, helping him to "develop his ideas". I think he is ill.

Wogan should never have allowed him on, he was obviously suffering from some sort of mental breakdown or illness. The audience were laughing at mental illness and were being encouraged to do so. It was a disgrace and Wogan is a piece of shit. Because this happened the only thing Icke could do to rationalise what happened was to go even further into insanity and now he believes in shapeshifting lizards. He makes a fine living out of it though.

I am willing to look at evidence for anything no matter how outrageous and I am certainly not ignorant. It's not ignorance to be skeptical of an idea that doesn't have, as far as I know, one shred of evidence. Shapeshifting may be a real phenomena but I have no reason to suppose that it is and neither do you. I'm sure Carl Sagan would have taken a similar attitude.

I've heard a theory that Icke's conversion may simply have been the result of him being caught in an electrical storm and having the chemical processes in his brain altered, rather than anything spiritually profound.
His account of that moment in Peru does lead credence to that suggestion. I know what I believe to be more likely.

I don't like David Icke but Wogan was lower than a snake for overseeing this; he wouldn't get away with it today. Back in '91, nobody cared by comparison; today there'd be protests and apologies at the very least. I have to say however, that whoever advised Icke to occupy live TV so lamentably, needed equal redress; it WAS ridiculous from start to finish. Wogan was funny with his Eurovision quips, but this is the same man who did the 'floral dance' back in '78 (lest we regre....forget).
