  • When she said "smart asses" with the british accent, I was like...badass xD

  • How did people think she was an Aussie she is a brummie through and through! lol

  • what part of england do u come from??

  • i think people think ur mixed because your skin is so tanned.

  • love ur hairrrrrrr

  • Comment removed

  • What part of brum u from? I'm a brummie too. And yes us brummies hav da best accent!

  • u dont look 100% chinese!! u look mixed xD

  • they probably get your accent confused cos you're a brummy!

  • im chinese too.

  • Are you from up North?

  • i hate when ppl get ethnicity/ nationality wrong

    im filipino

but born and raised in america so my nationality is american

    i live an american lifestyle

sorry just loved how you clarified ethnicity/nationality

  • when your sis speaks in Cantonese I could hear English accent to it.

  • love your eyes, lips and the shape of the face. however, the person who did your nose has done a terrible job. it looks too fake

  • thats very cute when you do the 1 to 10 counting :)

  • Soo happy to be able to talk Cantonese although im Caribbean :)

  • you need to smile a little more, you r always so serious !

  • oh wow! You don't look an inch chinese (with the stereotypically small eyes I mean....pardon my ignorance) and I'm English, but I can see where people are coming from, mistaking your accent as Australian. It has a twang to it that could be confused for it...

    BLEURGH

  • Lol you're so cute! !

  • I like your accent. Its so obviously British. Almost cockney like Tracy Uhlman.

  • I do hear a bit of the British accent when you and your sister are speaking Chinese. But ppl also tell me they can hear my american accent when I speak Chinese. Maybe its cause we are not exactly native speakers.

Maybe ppl are just curious what part of China your family is from. A lot of ppl know and have visited the exact village their family comes from (country folks anyway). Guess its a sense of pride. My fam is from Taishan, but i was born and raised in San Diego.

    Love your videos!!

  • Honey, you don't look meditteranean or middle eastern (have no idea where that comment came from); you look Chinese! You sound British. Exactly like what you are, duh. I myself live in America but am African-American, Caucasian, Chinese, and Indian. I grew up in Alaska, but am not Alaskan. People just don't get it, do they? But at the same time many people ask questions because they are blown by the beautiful and exotic mixes, so I suppose it's really a compliment.

  • Why did you emphasize with your voice and hand motions that you are "born and raised in the UK, so don't get it mixed up?"

Is that something you are especially proud of?

It seems that you are quite happy that you don't know your own language...strange just like the previous comment states...=T

  • @iloverelaxbear I guess the lady is just being honest.

  • Why did you emphasize with your voice and hand motions that you are "born and raised in the UK, so don't get it mixed up?"

Is that something you are especially proud of?

  • i think that it is very interesting that you are chinese but you were born and raised in england. you are a very beautiful person. and i love your acsent.. <--- i think i spelt that wrong. but anyways i love to watch your videos. and keep up the good work :)

  • you are very pretty and you seem nice but it's a shame you are so white-washed and Americanized. in your most recent video with the darker hair in which you were asking about lighting i couldn't even tell you were 100% chinese, i was shocked when i read the comments... somethings very off here with you. i think you should own your heritage more.

  • I love how you speak cantonese!! cute <3 xx

  • Lol I can't believe people thought this was an Aussie accent... Miles apart. It's so distinctly English

  • im the same ahha cant write it or speak properly to save my life!

  • i love the way you talk, your accent and your look are too cute, and dont worry about those haters talking smack you just do you!! i subscribed and see u later =)

  • it's sad that people until this day (especially in the US) dont know the difference btwn nationality and ethnicity. or even race!

  • THE ACCENT, THE ACCENT.... XD I LOVE IT!

  • hehe Australian funny,I have only seen this video. I'm with you on the smart arse comments, would this make your videos better???

Once again I am shocked to actually find a Brit on here! We are like gold dust! Keep up the good work :)

  • your voice is so annoying, and you do sound very australian

  • @Uchihasasuk5 You musn't know what the Aussie accent is then, cause her accent is very english.

  • smart ass sounds so much cooler in an accent.

  • I think you could do without a fake tan..your'e pretty though. I just..yeah.

  • 'trying to be smart ass's' haha your so so funny

  • u r so cute

  • i did not knew you were asian: ) haha but i subbed to ur channel! ur so sexy and i love your videos.!

  • I'm chinese too! :D

And although people know I'm asian, they NEVER think chinese >.<

  • First time I saw your vid and I think you are the prettiest among all the makeup gurus I've seen. ;)

  • OK FiRST OF ALL....iT DOESN'T TAKE A FCUKiN GENiUS TO TELL YOU'RE ASiAN!?!?!? WHO CARES?? PEOPLE ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOSEY UGHH! SHE TALKS ABOUT HAiR & MAKEUP.....NOT HER LIFE?!!

  • i thought at first you were asian, british, and maybe a little black. haha. [:

  • You are sooo freakin cute! I love how honest you are! I love your videos. You are so gorgeous and that is why people are being smart a@#es. They are jealous.

  • whoaa you look korean O.O or japanese

proud to be british <3 true british blood

  • Lol Australian accent! I'm from Australia and I can hear similarities in your accent to mine. Its funny. Probably the reason why you don't think you sound very Aussie is because the Aussie accent you hear the most in movies is from Queensland or Sydney. I'm from South Australia where the accent is much more British because it was the only state to be colonised by free settlers (as opposed to convicts) and when I go interstate I get asked if I am from England. Its pretty funny.

  • I love the australian accent ; british accent gets on my nerves.

  • You do have a foreign accent when you speak Cantonese. And Hong Kong is a small place, so there's only one Cantonese accent, nevermind which part of Hong Kong. Only the people from the north of the border have a different accent when speaking Cantonese. Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Hakka...... whatever the dialect, the universal written language is Chinese.

  • YEA me either could not believe you were chinese coz your skin tone seems alittle tanner than most chinese . but yea u do have an accent !

  • Wow u seem like your from The UK but i never knew you were Chinese. Heres a ? can u speak French or any other language

  • @zebrafreak02 you can be from the UK and still be chinese... CHINESE is her ETHNICTY. BRITISH is her NATIONALITY. just like how there are chinese or any race for that matter in the united states doesnt mean that they arent from there.

  • most people see that you are asian and assume the accent is gonna be Australasian and since you dont speak posh queens english (for americans that is THE english accent) they figure, must be aussie

  • very beautiful. Love your hair and style!

  • this video made me laugh. I am chinese myself and i understand cantonese and of course there is no such thing as a british chinese accent. if you get the tones wrong you are speaking cantonese wrong. at first i thought you were Filipino since you were so dark and the hair color and nude lips thrown me off. but beautiful none the less!

  • Comment removed

  • i agree Australian and English accents are very different

  • luv ur accent sooo cute! :)

  • This was really cute

  • loll jw but like ur chinese how do u have that accent? just because u were raised their doesnt mean u have to speak like that right? like do ur parents speak like that too?

  • @minnabby Lmao, someone already answered this question and she basically did too. Nationality and Ethnicity are two different things. Her parents are Chinese but she was born and raised in the UK so of course she would have an British accent. And you kind of make it sound as if she shouldn't sound that way. Almost a bit rude.

  • what is your hair color

  • I'm pretty sure I can hear your british accent when you speak Cantanese.

    It's cool. :)

  • your gorgeous:)

  • def not Australian, they are soooooooooo different!!!

  • i just love watching this cuz your accent!

  • That last part of the video looks like its in birmz!! I think i know where about it you were swell. You look very familiar too. Love the tutorials, keep em coming :)

  • You looked like snooki in your thumb nail

  • if your chinese how come you have a british accent? just wondering, (: love your video's !!

  • @xostinalovesyouxo

uhh maybe cuz she was born in the UK ...

    o_____0

  • @xostinalovesyouxo She answered this...was born in the UK

  • Comment removed

  • @xostinalovesyouxo -___-''...

  • @xostinalovesyouxo she told us lol she was born in the uk ;) doh

  • @xostinalovesyouxo cuz she is born and raised in the UK,which she said in the video "i was born and raised in the UK". You can be chinese and have a different accent. I'm chinese and i have a canadian accent.

  • @xostinalovesyouxo bcuz she was born and raised in the UK, she even stated it her self lol

  • do you tan ?

    you have amazing skin?

  • High-five for being a Vanessa.

  • woah, i'm canto and i definitely did not expect that you were either. yah, i agree you look very exotic/mixed or something. Your hair is dyed right? Maybe that's part of the reason.

And to answer some of the viewers' questions, I think there technically should not be a strong accent no matter where you live cuz then it throws off the tones or the way the word sounds...which in other words means that one would just speak poor cantonese.

  • your stunning :)

  • Chinese?? WOW thought you were Vietnamese all this while>.!

  • YOU DEFINATELY HAVE BRITISH ACCENT WHILE SPEAKING CHINESE. I don't think this is the case with all chines speakers who primarily speak british, but it is with you since you aren't very fluent and have probably learned the language through pinyin or pure memorization through some type of letters to memorize the sounds... confusing much? lol .

I was quite suprised to learn that you are chinese! I would love to have a conversation with you in chinese. lol.

  • i love your accent! and your chinese is so cute

  • u r soo adorable! chinese with an accent is soo hot!!

  • hahaha oh my goodness, your adorable. i love love your accent<3

  • i want to know how you last name came about.. poynterr??

  • You are lovely.

  • lol i can believe youre chinese! and i love youre accent! it's really cute on an asian! i've got no videos of myself up, but i dislike ethnicity questions too. =[ 'Cause my dad's from the US, but he's African American, German, Irish, and two different kinds of Native American and my mom's from Thailand but her grandfather's Chinese!

  • Im Australian and It suprises me how much these people dont know anything about other countries and Australian accents are nothing alike British accents.

  • Girl you and your sister do have a british accent in your chinese. And yeah there is an american accent for ABC's

  • you speak Cantonese very well. i am also chinese it is very rare for people nowadays to speak it. My father is from hong kong and my mother is from mainland china. my cousins actually speak french. instead of cantonese. so kool

  • your accent only seems to show when you speak english

  • i love u're accent!

  • You sound like russel brandt but you definately don't look like him!

  • God you're so hot.

  • Today I went shopping = gum yut ngo hui hong gai.

you're gorgeous! i love watching videos from other people all over the world.

  • If you're from HK, and you speak Canto, you're probably Cantonese. But I understand how confusing the different types of Chinese are :P

  • wow..i cant believe u are chinese. U look sooo exotic like meditteranean or middle eastern or something. U r gorgeous either way!

  • @angelsparkle8

Im European and trust me she looks nothing like middle easterns nor medditeraneans im not being mean she is beautiful but i knew she had some sort of asian beauty in her :)

  • @M3l97 haha that is funny because I am Lebanese and I think I can tell one middle eastern or medditereanean from another! What I guess threw me off were her eyes.

  • @angelsparkle8 hahaha then you don't know what middle eastern girls look like. She clearly looks chinese however very beautiful regardless of ethnicity..

  • @zjaz10 I am from Lebanon..I do know. thank you.

  • @angelsparkle8 ???? She doesnt look middle eastern :) But she is gorgeous... She looks like an Aussie Asian... to me...

  • @WLJwithCyndi i thought she did..i dont know what an aussie asian would look like though?

  • @WLJwithCyndi like this girl named Dichen Lachman

  • @angelsparkle8

You really cannot tell she is Asian?? She is a bit tanned but is obviously not Italian or Arab like you suggest. Look at her eyes!!

  • @angelsparkle8 the reason you thought that was because she has a bronze color/tan going on. plus her hair is dyed. but of course in each nationality, there are different looks/flavors.

  • @angelsparkle8 she doesent look mediteranean at all !!!!

  • @whiskeycola1 i think she does. thank you!

  • u r beautiful...doesnt matter what ethinicity u belong to xx

  • your really pretty i reckon you look like ahanbarbie.. i donno if that her youtube.. cant remember lol

  • Hello hun, you are looking really lovely as ever. Great video just to clear it up for those who seem to quiz you about where you are from. I thought it was funny when you said you get asked if you are from Australia, you don't sound remotely Australian, but maybe that's just because I recognise your accent. You have lovely hair, beautiful features and I LOVE your skin tone. I'd love to be darker than I am. Sigh, lol. Thanks for sharing with us though hun. xxx

  • wow you're Chinese? You look more exotic. Just because you don't look like the typical Chinese girl (light skin, dark hair).. I guess there is no "accent" whether you live here in the states or in UK. My BF is Cantonese and it sounds the same way you guys speak it there..

  • Don't worry. Cantonese is one of the hard languages out there. Really, people who have spoken, read, and practiced it would find it easy. There is nothing to worry about! :)

  • you seem so sweet:)

  • no wonder vanessa thinks the commenters are smart asses.

    She is what she is.

Majority of chinese girls look alike, n she just turned out more exotic and pretty which means she stands out! haha who wants to look the same anyway

  • she was born in HK but grew up in London , England...are you a woman from Africa or from Georgia,

  • Maori

  • I thought u were mixed u look very exotic!!!

  • Good cockney accent my lass...A Pinay or a Filipina going up in England...

  • @rocamtv that is not a cockney accent. cockney accents are from london.

  • i'm surprised that you get that question a lot... you look completely chinese.

  • just subscribed to you! :) you're gorggggouss! can't wait to watch your other vids! xo

  • What are you waering on your lips? It looks fab!! :)

  • LOL, MY PARENTS ARE FORM HK TOO!

  • Oooh i live near bham too,. i live in worcester lol.

    You look very familliar. :)

  • I love you're videos, you're soooo adorable! and i love you're accent! :D

  • Lol this was super funny. Yes I agree. I think hk people are just classified as hk. But yes u have a uk accent when u speak Cantonese and so does ur sister. :) Cause I know I have an American accent when I speak Cantonese. But love the British accent though. I think it's so cool!!! Sounds way better than the American accents cause u know we can get pretty ghetto. Hope no one takes this in the wrong way!!!

  • @dianerd168 haha not at all! I live an hour away from her and used to speak like her:)

everyone thinks in the uk we speak really posh and snobby but that is like 1% of the population.

I say waddup, awesome, etc haha.

our culture at the mo is based on uk r and b music and it reflects in how we speak. we have our own "Ghetto" words that gets mixed in.

my sister who is 16 says, "going shops" which annoys my mum:) rather than we are going shopping.

  • Your so pretty! and seem such a lovely person x

  • lol quite funny that people ask that qn you deffinately look 100% asian

  • Comment removed

  • you look half/half when i saw u. but really? 100% chinese... thats cool. i thought you were filippino half irish or british :P

  • wonky hahaha i learned a new word

  • awww your so pretty!

  • Whered you get your necklaces? :)

  • Oh wow that is so kool. I love your accent. I don't understand why people are hating. Maybe cuz ur just too kool haha

  • you dont look chinese at all :O

  • @EyyEll0822 Well she is

  • @EyyEll0822 she's just really tan.

  • You don't look Chinese at all!

  • @VaisaNacia But she is. Deal with it

  • @KTBEverlasting There's nothing wrong with her being Chinese. I made an observation and a comment. So how about you stop getting an attitude and get over yourself. Don't bother replying, I won't read it. Get off her videos and work on not being a bitch.

  • @VaisaNacia Y don't u get off and accept the fact she's Chinese.

  • @KTBEverlasting she just said she accepted it.. she just made an observation... lol

  • @DaFawky It's water under the bridge now.

  • i loove your accent :) i kept replaying when you counted 1-10. i'm mixed laotian, thai, & chinese. idk if anyone already said but 3,4,8,9,10 are the same as in laotian & thai :) that's interesting to know. the way you say 4 & 10 is a lil different from how we say it in lao+thai.

  • Yay, playing All-American Rejects in the background. I'm subscribing to you!

  • so cooool, my name's Vanessa and I speak Cantonese too :O

  • I think like in any language... When you speak it as a second language you have an accent... I'm from California and my primary language is English and Spanish as a second language.... When I go out the country people say I have an accent

  • I can't say for everyone in the UK who speaks cantonese, but i think you do have a bit of an accent when you speak it. You can tell that you don't speak it all the time and you're not fluent. I was the same because though I grew up in Hong Kong, I went to an international school and spoke english all the time so my cantonese wasn't that good. But my accent is much improved now and I have the tones right.

  • can u do this tutorial of this girl's makeup pls

  • say "ass" again. please. i love the british accent way of saying "ass" hahaha.

  • i would not have guessed u were chinese. i know u pain, i get asked all the time!

  • i LOVE how you say asses :)

  • yur chinese .. im sure yur mixed with somthing else .. cuz i couldnt rely tell .. lool .. n ways interesting ..

  • you're so gorgeous! stupid question, but your hair...is that ALL natural? or do you wear extensions too?

also, i think you should differentiate between a 'british' accent and a 'brummy' accent though, hun. thats probs why ppl might think it's aussi.

the brit accent is linked to the london/south east accent, whereas you're from up north/ the midlands (which i love lol)

  • haha, you do have a british accent attached to your speaking cantonese. i'm from singapore & cantonese is one of top few dialects here, heck! my family converse in cantonese at huge family gatherings. moreover, we do take the GCEs here in Singapore & ya, I believe that there pretty much is a british accent in your cantonese. :)

  • Hmm....interesting! Well, people from Russian and people from Mexico speak English differently and with an accent from their homelands. So, I'd assume that your Cantonese and mine would sound different to someone who's native language is Cantonese. But maybe I'm wrong (?).

  • I get these questions everytime i meet someone, no one can guess what I am. Its not annoying just interesting to hear what they come up with, I wonder a bit why they care - but other than that its interesting that I could blend in with lots of different cultures.

  • I love your accent!

  • @LbCeX me too!

  • Im chinese living in the uk too and ppl i know from america keep saying wen i talk cantonese i speak it kinda weird. They think i speak it in a weird accent lols they say its cus of the british accent but i dont think i do =S

  • Do you know any other Chinese people that live in England?

  • I <3 your british accent soooo much!

  • @toontownkid12 its not a british accent:) lol I live an hour away from her and I sound completely different. every hour you drive you find a different accent in england.

  • I think you look Cambodian

  • Cool video.

  • I just came across your channel. I subscribed. You are adorable!

You are right, so many people get the definition of ethnicity and nationality incorrect.

  • Whatever Ethnicity or Nationality you may be, You are BEAUTIFUL! :)
