Points, whats that got to do with it, the wave reached 3x overhead that day, with barrels, let me know when you are brave enugh to try it, i'll come and film you !
Looks very big, but also looks very messy / poorly formed and slow. Doesn't actually look like a very good wave. A smaller well formed wave that moves well would score better points than this don't you think?
deadly id like to know some stuff about the cribbar if you would'nt mind. Im a midlands booger but always wondered about some facts about this break.
Anyway, how big does this beast normally break at and is it a tight group that go out to surf it? or just a random bunch with a few friends here n there
it can apparently hold 12ft+ swell, some pictures i've seen are in the region of 30ft+ face - i think if you just went out you'd be fine, there are a few different groups of people that seen to always surf it what its on but also plenty of others - it is very dangerous though and its a very long rippy paddle out though and a long paddle back in - ROCK ROCKS ROCKS lol
hi mate some times its rubbish but when it picks up its BIG!!! trust me its big iv never been out there cuz im a begginer sponger so... yh how that kinda answers ya question =]
It's far from the biggest wave in the world, in fact since Aileen's and Zorbas reef came around it may not even be the biggest in the UK+Ireland any more. That and it's not as consistent as other waves (only works for a few days a year.)
This is a quote from someone who was actually out there surfing, with regards to jetski's - the guys are pretty glad to have them arouns even if they are paddling in
"It was nice to see a friendly face after hitting the reef and being held down that day. The lifeguard was right on top of me when i surfaced to check i was ok then after i said i was fine he went back out off the peak again to watch. As Deadly said they need to pracitce as to be ready for the big days and there was never any problem with the skis and us gus paddling in!
Having tight rescue procedures in place can mean the difference between saving your buddy or losing him so practice when ever you can. I use to be totally anti tow in if it was not massive but i have come around after chatting to these guys and being in the water with them while they towed. Oh, and no,....i have never towed as i like the challenge of the drop!"
I would even go as far as ban jetskies when there are paddle surfers out in the surf. It's so dangerous for surfers, and a total nuisance, the same as having a smoker in a room when you don't smoke... And I agree, no jetski is required for those average size waves. Imagine guys did tow-in at small waimea bay in hawaii... they'd kill you for that. Not only people would laugh at it, but no one would even try by fear of ridicule. (I spent 5 winters on the north-shore of oahu)
the guy at the end paddling , got out at little fistral, check out a map - there's also an old lifeboat ramp round the other side of the headland and then there's newquay harbour for the skis
bodyboard the cribbar? are you going mad mate? i wouldnt expect a pro to ride that thing. and you say you go boarding once a year, are you into your surfing or are you one of those with the £5 boards up to your ankles on towan...
i have been out there on a snall day just to see what its like(over 10 years ago). the rips are HUGE and due to the peaks shiffting it does warrant a tow, there is no escape if you get caught on the inside

if you think that the Cribbar is rare to break, i have still yet to get more than a photo of Zorbas, Zorbas is a very rare wave indeed !

admittedly, this is a hard wave to paddle into, as it flattens out more than it looks in video. Dude @ 4:24 paddles in no worries.

Just out of interest, once you've been surfing the cribber where bouts and how do you get out.. i noticed matey paddling into the rocks

Yes I am a part-time body boarder- this cribbar looks a piece of pish.
LeamingtonSteve 3 years ago
it might look it but trust me its not. people use jet skis to tow them out that far, and then theres surfing the wave...
Nat1226 3 years ago
yeah you're a total idiot if you're as inexperienced as you make out and want to body board it. It's a 20ft rocky reef break for crying out loud!

was fun paddeling that day! but the rips aint too bad and although its not nice being on the inside there, it aint the worst
joshthekook 3 years ago
What an absolute Dribbler. No wall whatsoever. More fun paddeling in, at least there's a bit of a drop that way.
