I think the point that he was making was not "look at me, I'm a soldier" The first part of him talking wasn't even recorded, people started recording after they began to hear him. I was there. He mentioned our Constituiton and then he began to talk about the oath that both he and the Senator took as a way to show what they both had that in common, and that they should both sacrifice to follow to the letter of the law. He was using the oaths as a way to shed a different light on accountability.
He said that he is not a Republican or a Democrat, he said that if they want this Healthcare bill then they have to Amend the Constitution (Art 5) or leave it to the states (Amendment 10). I think you need to give this guy more credit than you are. I don't think he's so much against healthcare as he is it being done unconstitutionaly.
Also, I heard him talk about declaring war before acts of war. He said that he really began to wake up to things while he was still in uniform, thats when he began to read the Constitution. Also, I think you may benefit from reading the minutes kept by Madison at the Constitutional Convention. Hamilton helped but his ideas lost the debate on a strong central gov't however he was instrumental in helping to write the Federalist Papers. this is a first hand account of hearing him talk.
In both speeches I have heard him give, he mentions his status, accepts the applause, and goes on to talk about others who are violating the constitution. The only reason to bring this up is to paint himself in a certain light. I would bring it up too, but the light I would cast upon myself would be very different.
Also, He still is in the military. He says he won't do domestic operations, but apparently he will do combat operations, though they are unconstitutional.
Hamilton did not lose the debate. Many court cases have been decided by using Hamiltonian interpretations. Others (ever fewer, it seems) have been decided by using Jeffersonian interpretations. As far as I can tell, every president has stepped beyond the boundaries of strict Jeffersonian interpretation (including Jefferson himself)
Appeal to emotion is right. Whenever you see someone who wore the costume they inevitably bring it up when they put forward an argument, despite it being completely bullshit irrelevant.
I'm getting quite sick of people who do not know what they are talking about yet claim they know who should be forced around at gunpoint, who should be machine-gunned down, and which cities should be blown apart with which weaponry.
have you seen some of these people's messages online?
in any case I understand. I guess I don't expose myself enough to those kinds of people to really despise them but I find myself pitying them more than anything.
Of course now I sound like an elitist douche after saying that...
This Obama care stuff is starting to look to me like a distraction from Cap & Trade (which seems a lot worse). I mean... if they help drive the economy into the ground with Cap & Trade, Obamacare won't even get the change to cause any damage.
It must be doing a good job. Being the tuned out guy that I am, I have no clue what Cap & Trade is, but even here where I mostly just check out what us average joes are saying I can't fucking get away from "the horrors of healthcare reform" videos.
Cap & Trade is essentially an energy tax, so the price of pretty much all goods will go up (considering that consumer goods require energy to produce and distribute). Look forward to your gas and electric bill going up as well.
Your angry words are not what people like to hear. The ugly truth, rarely is.

Fucking "conservatives."
They're chasing pretend freedom. They need to wake their ass up to the reality. The evidence has been in a long time and continues to mount.

I wish that brains so vacant would choose to extract themselves from the skull they reside within, at least partially.
Sometimes I could really go for being a philosopher-king in Plato's Republic.
Your wistful elitism's got nothing on my misanthropic bile and disgust.

It's really fucking ingenious if you think about it...
As long as everybody remains within their own party, the whole scam runs along smoothly.
If you put some warmongering murder up on stage to oppose Obamacare, then the lefties can rest assured that only psychopaths would oppose Obamacare.
This keeps them safe and snug in their own support, and discredits anyone who might oppose Obamacare on legitimate economic grounds.

In fairness, you don't need to be a warmonger thug to be seen as even worse than one by your average lefty Obama booster.
