I like the love you are giving Nash because he is my favorite player in the NBA, but every time I hear "Steve Nash is not a great athlete" it makes me cringe. Steve Nash is an amazing athlete. Talk to anyone in the NBA, especially the guys who have to guard him, and they will agree. Just because he's white doesn't mean he's just an average athlete.
Best PURE point guard of all time. He's my favorite player of all time, but Magic Johnson will always be considered better than him. Magic can get the same amount of assists as Nash, but due to his size, can score twice as much in the post.
Steve Nash is one of the greatest player of all time. I don't care if he didn't win an NBA title. If I had the number one pick and they let me choose from among Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Steve Nash, I'd choose Steve Nash. You can surround Steve with mediocre players and he'd still lead them to the playoffs. There's no "taking my talent to South Beach". He'll play the hand dealt to him and make you think he has a royal flush.
I remember this game it was amazing Nash is in the top 3 point guards of all time and he will go to the hall of fame.. He's the best point guard ever to play the pick n roll.
the thing is, steve nash takes those tough jumpers, and he still maintains a great average field goal percentage. those shots in the game were so pure
Maybe a perfect game for the Suns, or offensively speaking... But Nash is not good at defending and this game was no different, wouldn't a perfect game involve shutting the opposing point guard down too, and don't tell me that he did that because he didn't, but all in all an excellent game for him don't get me wrong
@DemNiggazClick Oh yeah I don't watch basketball, that's why I know the Phoenix Suns are strictly offensive minded, maybe not as much as when they were coached by D' Antoni, but they are still no good at defense... Steve Nash should give a fuck, the greatest players are the ones who play well on both ends of the court, but it's too late now he's too old to change. Who cares if he's the greatest Canadian ever, don't waste my time trying to defend Nash when I never said anything bad about him
@JMFTiM3 he's a great w/ two mvps...now if he was in his prime then he should care, since he's not he shouldnt give a fuck...i most certainly wouldnt at his age
Finally!!! A guy that also knows that the "mid-range" game is the lost art of the NBA. When I see these YouTube mixes for Steve Nash, the things I see are fancy passes, circus shots, and deep threes. Those are good too. But, the 17-19ft jumper is the reason why Steve Nash become one of the best shooters in NBA history!
Finally i've found a guy who also knows nash is the best pg. He could score 30 every night but he chooses to pass. thx mike, i'm one of nash's biggest fans and he deserves a rig for all his work he just doesnt have the help on his team.
nash is the best pg in nba history. more 50-40-90's than ne1 ever is proof that hes the best all around shooter ever. he is 6th all time in assists and of the top 6 players he is the only one to avrage lower than 7apg for 5 seasons. 1st is stockton who had 1 season under 7apg 2nd kidd has never been below 7 apg 3rd magic never below 7 apg 4th price 2 seasons below 7 apg 5th oscar robinson couldnt find his per season stats online.
Give the Nash jock-riding a break.....dude takes off on defense....he doesn't have to guard the best PGs and he gets credit for being the best...you can't be the best and shrink when it comes time for defense...plus, people talk about his high assist total which is cool, but what about his assist to turn ratio?
@amaaramore He doesn't have to be good at everything to the one of the best PGs. Back in his early days, Jason Kidd wasn't a great shooter, yet he was called a great PG back then. Rajon Rondo is a great defender and passer, but not the best shooter, yet people still see him as a great PG. Defense is just something Nash isn't strong at, so what? He's still called a future HOF. Nobody is perfect.
@Lord980 You disregard defense as if it's nothing. Defense is more important than shooting (Nash's strength). I know no player is perfect, but with no d, you see why Nash has no ring.
@amaaramore I see where you're going at. But Nash is also missing great young talents on his team. The Suns made a big mistake when trading away Jason Richardson. They say when Amare left, the Suns had a big gap to fill, yet they haven't filled that spot yet. When you have a 37 year old PG as the leading scorer, who only averaged 14.6 PPG, that's saying something.
@Lord980 What are you talking about? He played with a prime Dirk, and Amare Stoudemire when he a beeasssst pre-knee injuries. He also played with prime Michael Finley, Jason Kidd, Joe Johnson, and a slew of "Euro/World" stars. Nash is a great talent but imho he's overrated. Yes he shoots efficiently but at what cost? How much more effective would John Stockton, Kevin Johnson (omg), Isiah Thomas, and Mark Price be without hand-checking?
@amaaramore I have to disagree with you. I hope you're old enough to keep up with my conversation. I'm 28 and been playing, watching, and betting on basketball since I was 14. Nash is by far the toughest player I've ever seen. You're talking about hand checking? he doesn't even play defense and he's not a great offensive player but he makes everyone around him better. How many players do you know that broke their nose, stitches on the lip, eyelid, and continued playing? He gives 100% each game
@amaaramore I trained boxing with his trainer in NY for 3 years. He told me over and over that he's trained so many NBA players in the offseason but he's never seen anyone like Nash. He told me the guy is a machine, he doesn't get tired. I'm not a fan of Nash but his IQ and toughness forces me to like him.
@Lord980 It's the fact that generally as an all around defender he isn't that great, and defense consists of A LOT of different factors so being weak in so many does bring you down quite a long way. Don't get me wrong, I love Steve Nash and the way he plays, I've modelled a lot of my game on him but defensively he isn't that great, offensively he's one of if not THE best point guard in the NBA.
Nash is just the modern day Stockton. An ideal point guard. He knows exactly when to pass, when to shoot, when to drive. He never takes a shot he doesn't have to, but when it comes down to crunch time he's the man to sink the big shot. Nash was always my idol for the longest time.
actually i agree that nash is one of the best point guards with the assist but these highlights of his assist werent that good. for instance hakim warrik reached out in front of him almost tripping then he recovered same thing with grant hill, it was a short lob and that was a hard layup to make. He is one of the best assisting point guard but these werent good examples.
I like the love you are giving Nash because he is my favorite player in the NBA, but every time I hear "Steve Nash is not a great athlete" it makes me cringe. Steve Nash is an amazing athlete.
