  • Brilliant mate!! Nice one! Never knew how to do this!

  • terrible song choices lol. I'm gonna have to sit around and tamper with the denon. you brought some unique features to my attention that I didnt know existed. (the platter adjusting the placement of B)

  • over did it a little haha thank you though

  • okey warsaw, thanks for the advice, i'm planning to buy cdj 2000, but i was hoping to sell my dns 3700 and i dont know how. i barely used it within 2 mos.

  • I 'll give you 400 buck for both! take it or leave it.

  • okey bro, what can you say about denon dns 3700?

  • I can say much, but I have no time for this ;) . I don't know your DJ preferences... But... for me I would not buy Denon DJ gear anymore. Pioneer is pro. PRO, but expensive. But PRO. And Denon... - visit denondjforums com and read.

  • hi, did you play the background music on the same cd player? you mean you can play 2 songs in one player? thank you

  • kickshield:

Hi Bro! Check out some info about Denon DN-HS5500 - it can work as dual player - with two decks in one, just by switching active deck.

See video from AGI PRO DJ or see my other videos with mix by using this player.

  • jezus man... that music sucks big buisiness!

    But that Hs5500 rulez.

  • look out Tiesto

  • Can't make up my mind, what's worse? the choice of music or the mixing

  • cum....cum.....cum..... lol

  • strange this because i own the 5500 and its been excellant?

updated the firmware to the latest and never had any problems?

just wish that pioneer would make a cdj1000 with usb ????!

  • does new update filmware fix all your cons in Denon 5500? darm, i bought a pair of Denon 5500

  • No. All problems mentioned by my are still in this player, despite new firmware. I heard, that Denon already discontinued DN-HS5500. I wish you will be satisfied with this unit and you will find no problem... But for me, gear from Pioneer is lot more stable and this is important for me, because I wanna be sure of tool I'm using.

  • Yes, after all rumor about problem with DN-HS5500 Denon had already Discontinued DN-HS5500 and i found some news in Denon forum. It said that " there will be one or two update more and after that they stop because they must focus in some new technique"

But i think 3000$ for a pair of Pioneer 1000mk3 and it just play CD or MP3 is not better than 999$ and you have a midi controller , 2 deck in 1, hard driver blah blah.

  • Hi there! Thanks a lot for your video! Maybe you can help me with a decision: I am going to buy either 2 Pioneer CDJ-400s or 1 Denon DN-HS5500 (because of its 2 decks in 1 function). I prefer electronic music (house, trance, techno), so the comfortable mixing is important... Though I am used to vinyl, I think I could cope with the pioneers.. but what do you think of the effects / loop functions / 2-decks-in-1 / handling. Which player(s) would you prefer?

  • Hi! I recommend you to take one Pioneer MEP-7000 or two Pioneer CDJ-400's. Honestly I not recommend you to take one Denon DN-HS5500, because there are problems with this machine, which I have described in my responces to comments under this video - please read. Major problems with Denon DN-HS5500: crashes; while operating on second player, first player sometimes can unexpectly restore pitch setting; stuttering by cue button is not sure operation. DN-HS5500 is already discontinued by Denon...

  • Okay! I've just read your detailed remarks on the pros and cons. Thank you very much for honestly sharing your experiences with me/us! That was a great help! :)

  • Yesterday I was mixing house music using DN-HS5500 and it was fine...

I really like the fact that you don't have to use any CD's - but just USB hard drive or flash drive, and you have pretty LARGE DISPLAY, but... It seems Denon is harder to operate than Pioneer... You have to know all traps which are waiting for you ;) ...

I think Pioneer MEP-7000 is cool, but it has short pitch slider.

If you will buy CDJ-400, then it is similar to club standard CDJ-1000 and 800.

  • oh sorry... i mean nice for: presentation-mixing-skills... and i agree with you on those pro&cons below!;] tnx!

  • And Denon DN-HS5500: Not so good machine, if you want to be sure, that player will not fail you. Not so good machine if youare mixing DJ.

But scratch disc works with no latency and it may be nice for turntablists. I'm not scratcher by now.

  • NICE!

  • Really nice to se ya :) ...

You are my first subscriber ever ;) . Thank you and I wish you well...

I was trying to post few new live mixes - including oldschood funk, disco & soul mix, but YouTube was cutting off the sound from videos... So now it seems, that YouTube DJing may be not legal... By now I give up posting new mixes...

  • Just make sure that the music you use is not Warner.

  • Thanks for this video, i've been looking for real instructive videos about the dn-hs5500, was just wandering about a autoloop possibility cause real helpful when no WAV display and the song is droping fast !

Does the jog and pitch slide respond smoothly in a mix ?

  • Rubber buttons are not so good. CUE button is not so good as on Pioneer players. I have problem with STUTTERING by CUE button - check out my other vid. Buttons stops working pretty fast - I already replaced two microbuttons.

I like the pitch bend buttons. I'm not using the jog to correct synchronization in the mix. When you change the pitch in spinning platter mode, then changes will not be so fast because of platter inertia (weight).

  • On DN-HS5500 you can experience lot of software bugs. When you are using one unit in dual mode, then sometimes pitch value of bottom layer can suddenly skip to other value, so it makes your mix off beat!! - this is very crap for me... In the oront of audience you "must" pray for no bad surprices...

spinning platter: Maybe for scratchers this is good...

Pros of DN-HS5500 is, that you got large display and you can use hard drive or flash drive insted CDs.

  • Another cons:

    - No waveform display

    - Autoloop is not so easy to turn on, because its "under" echo effect

    - Build-in BPM counter is not so good... But you can calculate BPMs on computer and write values in file tag.

    - Optional CD drive pretty slowly loads CD and it can't read MP3-CD.

For pro mixing purposes in the front of audience I will not recommend you this unit, specially in dual mode. I think Pioneer is lot better, but unfortunatelly CDJ-1000 can't read via USB...
