I have seen comments saying the fight shouldn't have been stopped so close to the end of the round. Maybe such people would have liked to have seen a second round but rules are rules. The ref is there to enforce them. If you're out or can't protect yourself it's his job to stop the fight. One second may not sound long but a fighter like Cyborg can land a couple a huge hits in that time. We don't want Corano getting seriously hurt like Bisbing. The ref did his job.
The strange thing is that even professional fighters got the predictions so wrong. If you look at the Sherdog predictions MOST pros had Carano winning it! But watch tf their fights - there's a huge difference in power. The pre-fight interviews were telling - Carano said 'I'm going to do my best that's all you can do' Cyborg said 'I'm gonna stomp her ass'. You could see it in their eyes - Carano never believed she could win. I didn't think Carano would last as long as she did.
I agree. Gina had no confidence whatsoever. Its like her only goal was to survive, not to win, but to just survive and protect her face. Ive never seen her so quick to block. Cybrog fights like those ghetto chicks.

Folks, remember: Cyborgs mindset is not merely to beat you, but to beat you so badly that youll NEVER want a rematch. In Ginas case, EVERY previous fight she had was with an opponent who she knew in advance that she could beat fairly easily. Gina took this fight because she wanted to secure one huge Payday, plus a springboard into acting, modeling, etc.

Look at extremely skilled male fighters like GSP, Randy Couture, or BJ Penn.. They're all attractive male MMA fighters who model (like most all athletes). Yeah they're a good camp, but only a couple really good fighters came out of it...One of them being Anderson Silva, but Anderson actually left Chute Boxe before he joined the UFC. He was in Black House when he became best P4P. Mauricio and Wanderlei also came out of Chute Boxe, but they're not really great anymore...

Actually Carano took a hard hit to the head when she was down initially and that's what really stopped her and caused here to go fetal. She shouldn't have given up the FULL MOUNT when she had it...VERY VERY DUMB. It was almost as if she didn't want to hit Cyborg down like that...weird. I have seen comments saying the fight shouldn't have been stopped so close to the end of the round. Maybe such people would have liked to have seen a second round but rules are rules. The ref is there to enforce them. If you're out or can't protect yourself it's his job to stop the fight. One second may not sound long but a fighter like Cyborg can land a couple a huge hits in that time. We don't want Corano getting seriously hurt like Bisbing. The ref did his job.

The strange thing is that even professional fighters got the predictions so wrong. If you look at the Sherdog predictions MOST pros had Carano winning it! But watch tf their fights - there's a huge difference in power. The pre-fight interviews were telling - Carano said 'I'm going to do my best that's all you can do' Cyborg said 'I'm gonna stomp her ass'. You could see it in their eyes - Carano never believed she could win. I didn't think Carano would last as long as she did.

I dunno about that, Gina was totally outclassed and getting beat up. I think she is a great fighter, probably the best next to Cyborg but she couldn't deal with her aggression or strength. Good stoppage IMO.

Folks, remember: Cyborgs mindset is not merely to beat you, but to beat you so badly that youll NEVER want a rematch. In Ginas case, EVERY previous fight she had was with an opponent who she knew in advance that she could beat fairly easily. Gina took this fight because she wanted to secure one huge Payday, plus a springboard into acting, modeling, etc.
If/when they fight again, Gina will probably lose again.

Just as the talent pool got deeper with the advancement of men's MMA popularity, we're going to see that happen with women's MMA. Gina is a great warrior, but Cyborg is a machine. That school in Brazil that she trains at (that also gave us Anderson Silva) is a champion factory. It'll be fun to see who they dig up for the answer to Cyborg... and Gina! Hey! I ain't mad atcha!

So true, the only women i have ever seen with that type of physique are bodybuilders. There is no natural way in hell that cyborg could get like that without being juiced.

Anyone who thinks cyborg isnt on steroids obviously doesnt have the slightest idea about, training, physiology, and hormones. It is chemically impossible for a woman to get to the mass of cyborg without steroids. Ask anyone who knows about this and if they are honest they will tell you the same thing. And Brazil isnt exactly known for its drug testing policy.

Gina certainly is on roids! Don't be naive. All high-performance athletes are doing steroids. And she has access to much better "products" since Cyborg is from Brazil and not near as famous or rich. The problem is that Cyborg trains like a mad girl. She trains harder than any man you can think of. She trains MMA like Masahiko Kimura trained Judo. That's why Carano can't even hope to make a stand against her. I said before the fight: Gina is dead woman walking.

Must also say that it was one awful main event, no technique what-so-ever, I can now understand why the ufc does not want any women fights!

I always enjoy responding what i consider a smart posting. There isnt much out there for cyborg to fight the only person i see that could put up a fight but wouldnt win is Erin Toughill. But the way showtime works they will probably have a carano vs cyborg 2 selling it as if the first fight was stopped too early. If that happens the outcome will be the same! I like Gina an she looks great on all those promo posters but she is no match for cyborg!!!!

Look at extremely skilled male fighters like GSP, Randy Couture, or BJ Penn.. They're all attractive male MMA fighters who model (like most all athletes). anna K. was in the top 10 female tennis stars...and danika usually finishes top 10 in her races.....just like them, carano was always about a "pretty face, and a hot body"...but she was a marketing tool for MMA based on her looks not her ring ability. she did not even make weight her last 2 or 3 fights,
she had not earned her record, and the first time she fights someone with skills she gets beat.

Yeah they're a good camp, but only a couple really good fighters came out of it...One of them being Anderson Silva, but Anderson actually left Chute Boxe before he joined the UFC. He was in Black House when he became best P4P. Mauricio and Wanderlei also came out of Chute Boxe, but they're not really great anymore...
Black House would probably beat Chute Boxe though. They have Anderson, Lyoto, and Minotauro Nogueira =p

The real reason Gina lost so badly is because she doesnt have the extreme KILLER INSTINCT that Cyborg gained from her environment as a little girl. It is literally Cyborgs goal to KILL you or die trying, and few women on earth take combat that seriously. (Its not in their nature.) The few who do come from third world countries, not developed nations like the USA. They arent out there to play patty-cake.
At the stare-down just before the fight, Gina knew she was in DEEP trouble.

i just finished watching the fight just now & im a huge fan of carano, BUT she got owned plain & simple; 1st look at the camps they came from, Carano is from extreme couture & Cyborg is from Chute Boxe (the same camp Wanderlei, Shogun, Anderson Silva were once in) 2nd i think all the public appearances & extra tv time played a hard toll on carano's training schedule(when did carano ever look gassed out close to the end of round 1?NEVER)

Actually Carano took a hard hit to the head when she was down initially and that's what really stopped her and caused here to go fetal. She shouldn't have given up the FULL MOUNT when she had it...VERY VERY DUMB. It was almost as if she didn't want to hit Cyborg down like that...weird. Cyborg did better in stand up than Carano did surprisingly. She has some big shoulders and very muscular arms. I do have to wonder how good Strike Force checks for roids cause she's got that look my friends.
