To those craving Peerless chips but outside of NWI, you can call (219-885-6843) and place an order. They ship UPS! Here is a sort of product and price cheat sheet…
1 oz size - Reg, BBQ, Salt & Sour - 36/case $11
3 oz size - Reg, BBQ, Salt & Sour - 12/case $10
10 oz "Big'Un" - Reg, Curly, BBQ, No Salt - 12/case $33 (or 6/half-case $16)
Whoahh.. Talk about a lack of hygiene??? Did you see the state of the walls and ceiling?? And is there no requirement to wear hairnets or at least a basic food production uniform?? I would be very worried about buying these chips...
peerless is the best tasting chip in indiana and probably illinois, i only shop were they sell peerless.hear that KMart. by the way you better start using earplugs.
I grew up less than a mile from the Peerless plant. Although made in modest surroundings, these are unquestionably the best potato chips in the world. If you can't get to the Gary area to buy them, you can order them over the phone and have them shipped UPS. I hope they keep making these chips forever. You can take the kid out of Gary, but you can't take the Peerless Potato Chips out of the kid. I hope they keep making them forever!
@TheCTConservative I used to live on 11th ave and could go straight down past the plant to Broadway! Every time I visit my family I make a special trip to stock up. I wish they sold them in Indianapolis.
I grew up around the corner from Peerless. My mom still lives on 10th. Every time I make a visit to Gary I always make a stop to pick up a bag of peerless chips, Ray's Shrimp House, and Lincoln's subs! Gary has the best food!
I grew up in Gary, I now live in Boise,ID. I have sampled chips for 50 years. The best chips in the states are Peerless. I get monthly chips from Peerless UPSed to me. No chip compares!
Good point, kosh2001. All food service workers (once upon a time) were required to wear hair nets, plastic gloves and even nose/mouth masks. No wonder there's so many diseases these days.
What?? You mean, US Steel employment is next to nothing, all of "downtown" Gary is a parking lot, most of the homes/churches/buildings are in ruins AND Peerless Potato Chip Co is STILL there AND thriving?? Talk about a silver lining in a dark cloud!! I loved eating those potato chips over 40 years ago as a child!
God bless Scott Hogg and his family. Peerless potato chip has been around a long time. I remember 11th Avenue when it was a fine commercial business district. Peerless stayed after most of the other businesses had left. Thanks for your service to the community.
