everyone talks weight and yes but to a certain extent. when the weight difference is 50 pounds or so. sure the yammie dont handle like a pro rmk, but if i had just made one of those tracks to the left at 2mph as my stocker crawled in over the top and then i watched da yammie go up the fresh, steeper, and at 30 mph. I think i would have to buy him a beer and wouldnt give two shits about weight. of course im not buyin one, cost a fortune and handle like a tank. lol

personally i would rather ride my 2 stroke because of the weight, and price. if you have the money, and you are just riding and hill climbing, buy a 4 stroke and turbo the shit out of it, but if you are not just going straight up the hill, jumping and shit, go with a 2 stroke, they have the weight and price advantage. 4 strokes are shitty with no turbo, and turbo adds another 2-3 grand on the price tag.

but the problem with that is now you have a 640lb monster that wants to go straight and fast. im not dissing either discipline of the sport. dockin and climbin are equally fun, but it just depends on your local terrain. you guys arguing over which sled is better for climbing is worthless because the best climber is the one with the most horsepower.

i agree 100% with xtremist. i ride a mod xp because i am a boondocker, not a hill climber. the reasona doo is a better boondocker is because it comes in dry at 450 lbs and is 150 lbs lighter than the average yami mtn sled. not to say you cant get 500 hp out of a ski doo, but once you do youre going to be $10k deep into your motor. or, you can buy a yamaha and slap a turbo on for... what $2500? and push 500 horses.

my apex has been dynoed at just over 500 horse at 24 lbs of boost. and in my opinion any yamaha sled, unless turboed isnt really worth buying, your way better off buying an xp or dragon if your going to leave it close to stock, but ive raced lots of dragons and a few cats (all turboed) and if we run the samew boost the race is pretty fair, im a bit behind because im heavier, BUT those 2 strokers cannot make the power that a 4 stroke can so as soon as i turn it up, the game is all over.

Check your stats before you comment on shit snowhawk- 2010 Yahmaha Apex has 150hp stock and they wont post a dry weight but its around 600lbs, 2010 polaris assault has 154hp stock and only 487 dry so the assault is better stock but when you talk about turbo'ing them the Yahmaha has 4 cylnders to boost instead of two thats why you can get so much more hp out of them

Ugluk75! Assault is a 2-stroke! and the apex is a 4-stroke! The apex has mutch more horsepower stock then the assault! so figure why the apex has more power then the assault whith a turbo!

Man you are so wrong. For one Apex's are 600 LBS dry. Add a turbo and you have three hundred horsepower on 600 lB sled. My M8 is 457 LBS dry if I add a Boondocker turbo I can get it up to 300 Horsepower as well. Minus 150 LBS. Trust me 150 LBS is alot of weight on a machine. It would be like me doubling a girl everytime I ride. There is no way in hell you could boon dock that Yammy in the trees I ride EVER> It is just to heavy and not nimble enough.

@IveGotTheNuts yea weight is huge. you can get the apex down to about 525 dry, but the reliablity of a turbo 4 stroke is way better than a two stroke. i dont care what you ride, just have fun riding, all sleds have pos and neg, i have a m7, i want a turbo, but will prob get a nytro to turbo

now why say that? That guy would have maybe gotten 3/4 of the way up that hill if it wasn't for the turbo. They may have the leading 4 stroke technology but they are most certainly not the best. If they were the best, then everybody would not have to turbo them to get up hills like that.

ski-doo and polaris still make 2 strokes, which if you know anything about their engineering, are pointless to turbocharge since the boost goes right thru the cylinders and out the exhaust port. So hypathetically, the Yamaha's are the only ones to turbo since they are 4 strokes. And since they have the capability of being boosted, that gives them a definitive edge against other snowmobile manufacturers.
