What's the trunk space look like? very minimal? Since the hardtop seems like its there. Does the trunk flip up like a conventional trunk? seems like it goes off the hinges.

i saw it at the showroom. it opens pretty much normally, but when the roof is down the boot space is limited and you wont be able to load large objects, however when the roof is up you can simply slide the roof holding shelf up and you get a proper boot. Also the rear seats back rest folds down so the rear seat space can be used as lagauge space without damaging the seats.

also their is an easy loading function for when roof is down, a button on the key will bring the roof up half way so the boot is not restricted upon loading by the roof holding shelf, when loading large objects.

Althought the convertible has no structural roof the nessicary extra re-inforcing thats needed to keep the handling adds an extra 155 Kilo's

Also worth noting that when the M-DCT (BMW's new semi-auto gearbox developed by Getrag) is abailable on the Convertible it will also be an option on the Coupe.

I must admit I felt exactly the same, I own an E46 convertible M3 and I was very skeptical of the new design. But after test driving it a few weeks ago I COMPLETELY changes my mind, infact it make my one look ancient! Completely taken back by the performance and design both of which, in my opinion are better... Have a test drive see what you think...
