  • some quality footage there.

  • What's the name of the organ piece playing at the beginning of the film?

  • This is outstanding. I mean, both video and wedding. Good luck to you.

  • And then after the honeymoon you both went to watch the new release of Monty python and the holy grail right? =D

Great video, I just got a 8mm camera and I am buying film for it to record my holiday in 2 months time. =)

  • this is the KODACHROME 8mm film ?

  • @pde385e Yes it is

  • over 16,000 people have seen your wedding. amazing!

  • ugly British houses....

  • Out of Focus Super 8 Film

  • I am amazed how good quality and nice colors Super 8mm have. While watching this I noticed one girl 1:51-1:53 who reminds me my ex girlfriend. I wonder how this girl in your movie looks now 36 years later.

  • Just watched this again one year later and I have to say this is one of the best amateur home movies on YT. Show us what you both look like now! Go on be a sport:o)

  • @airscrew1 I found this video clip of me messing about with a philips toucam in 2005, the first camera i tried for my telecine machine. No harm was done to any of the participants in the video - LOL

YouTube " Philips ToUcam Webcam "

  • Was this filmed using Kodachrome film?

  • It came out good, I'll bet you hardly projected it, colors are stunning.

  • Lovely

  • Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your memories with us. God bless the both of you! :)

  • aww

  • Love it!

Now I just need to know how to work 8mm...

Do you need to process it just like 135 and 120?

  • Is this 8mm film with sound on film?

  • Its a Super 8mm silent film, I've added the sound effects - Bells and background crowd babble. The actual silent film only can be found here [ Super 8 mm Wedding Film 1974 - Raw Telecine processed with Avisynth ] HQ quality.

Read the info to the right of the clip to get it to play properly - YouTube have not corrected the play error yet!!

  • @cineprojectorman this is quite a good quality for 8mm can you blow this up in tv and still see good results? i like to shoot something if i get a 8mm camera

  • @isometric85 Thx for kind comment. Yep, it looks quite good on a 32" LCD TV IMHO especially my clip [ Super 8 mm Wedding Film 1974 - Raw Telecine processed with Avisynth ]

  • @thedomonator

No. The area reserved for the sound track is used for image. Hence the "super". That wold be my understanding anyway.

  • i love the bridesmaid dresses.

  • excellent transfer, looks like it was filmed just yesterday. Brought back memories of all my old 1970's Super 8 buried in the closet. Wish I could do that!

  • The super 8 transfers where done lovely! I bet that you are so pleased. Shame about the terrible sound effects... My ears are still ringing lol! All jokes aside though, Its nice that you still in love after al these years. I have just had my films transferred by Video station. But I have been doing tests myself. Home movies are so precious, especially back when it was so difficult to capture.

  • Beautiful! How can i do that kind of telecine? I have 30 cartridges of kodak 200t developed but i cant find a place where i can telecine them cheap and with a beautiful look. What and how can i do to telecine them with the quality of yours. thanks. Scuse me for my english im writing from Colombia.

  • Very nice! I wish I could go back to 1974. All my freinds and relatives who are now dead would be there.

  • great vid, your wife looks beautiful and you both look happy. amazing quality of image. How did you store it? How would you say you got your image to be so clear and sharp compared some other super 8 stuf fout there? Do you think your film-digital transfer is better than labs?

  • Thanks for your kind comment.

Click "more info" on how I did it![right hand side of the clip] Frame by frame achieved using a program called Cinecap. Video editing - Adobe premiere pro, this sharpened the video for utube and was saved as a .wmv file on PC.

  • No, I don't think the consensus is that film is inferior/outdated. For the most part I believe film is still looked at at being beautiful and very hard to beat with any digital format. But for low-budgeters it comes down to expense. If film was looked at being inferior why is everyone wanting their video footage to look more "film-like"?

  • Well perhaps its a generalisation on my behalf but that is what I perceive it to be. As for everyone wanting their footage to look more like film, well I suppose it comes down to the expensive production levels lighting etc. dont get me wrong I personally think that film is inherently beautiful.

  • This beats almost all amateur dv stuff out there in terms of quality, shame theres a general consensus that film is somehow inferior/outdated compared to dv. because its the opposite in terms of quality, film is organic and thats its strength.

weird to think about where that time has gone. does it exist anymore? Is that all we become in the end? I was looking at photographs the other day and I think its really quite sad. Eventually we will only exist as photographs, like captured ghosts.

  • I agree, We a a society need to disband all dv/handheld technology. Film is still so much beautiful. Even super8mm is better (in opinion) than most 150-200$ dv cameras out today.

Why can't someone apply a future to film technology? there still has to be a future in home filming. I think personally it has to be price related issues....?

  • beautifully done.. i like it. do you have a link where i can learn super 8 where to buy and how to transfer them to digital or pc...

    this is amazing!

  • Beautiful video and great photos. Thank you so much for sharing this. It's wonderful. And wow, married 33 years and still in love. That's awesome. Bless you both!

  • wery good muito bom !

  • Very good projector he uses, I myself own a 1978 Bell & Howell super 8mm projector!

  • god this is beautiful. wonderful super-8 work.

happy to hear you're still married too!

  • Thanks for your kind comment.

  • Best Ive seen, I had a look at an Elmo set up before, it has a pulse microswitch on the film guide which you use to send a left click signal to the PC. What can you tell us about the lens set up please? Are you filming into the lens?

  • The projector is an Elmo SP-F, very basic. I have added electronics i.e. Opto-coupler mouse switching control, 12V motor, toothed belt and pulleys [ex video recorder] PWM motor control and Lumiled light source control circuits. Film path as follows - Webcam > IR/UV filter > lens > film gate > Light LED.

    Hope this helps.

  • Yes, thanks for that, it certainly gets the results that most would aspire to, well done.

  • Hi, What kind of infrared filter you used? My transfers seems to be too bright, I think it is because I don't use an Ir filter.

  • Your video is slightly sepia, this is the effect you get when not using an I/R filter. My filter was obtained from an old webcam, part of the lens assembly. It can be difficult to remove the blue/red crystal like substance as it is easily smashed. The blue cyan glass type filter in camcorders and still ccd camera's do result in loss of light, I have not found these to be satisfactory.

    Regards
