  • @hillbilly2bill I'm happy you enjyed the video. I loved going back iin time and had fun making it.

Johnny Mathis was born in Gilmer, Texas and moved to San Francisco when he was about four-years-old.

  • @doowopnightsdotcom Thanks. I'm really happy you enjoyed it.

  • You did a fantastic job in putting this video together. Thanks for the memories! I was a teen in this era and it was the best time of my life! I especially thought it was wonderful of the young couple on the Merry-go-round and then the older couple. How perfect!!

  • @Muskokamummy Thank you. I'm so happy you enjoyed it.

  • When puberty struck, Johnny Mathis was there to sing about my adolescent [late onset, I'm afraid] angst. He was able to but all my emotions into splendid song. Romance, and love, he sang only for me. Later, Barry Manilow was able to sing of unrequited love once I was whomped a few times but Johnny always was there to give me hope for the future. I am now over 70. Now the magic of Mathis bring fond and enduring memories, thanks to you and Mr. Mathis.

  • ReadmeReadyou.

  • I only wish this generation could appreciate johnny mathis the way I do.

  • You're right but you'd also be surprised at the young people that I get comments from. A couple are just teens. Once they hear him, they love him. Romance knows know age limit and JM is the voice of Romance,. I thank you for stopping by and appreciate your comment.

  • @ReadMeReadYou I agree, why don't they write songs like this any more,? beautifully sung by Johny Mathis.

  • REALLY FABULOUS

  • Brings back MANY, MANY good memories from my youth. I'm turning 65 in a few weeks, but still get a warm fuzzy listening to this.

  • I'm happy you enjoyed it. Wishing you a Happy Birthday for your upcoming 65th. : )

  • Wonderful, the guy can sing anything and make it his own. I can't count the number of times I've listened to this.

  • I'm so glad you like it and I appreciate your coming by and commenting. Thank you.

  • Pure artistry. Paint that picture Johnny.

  • BEAUTIFUL - ABSOLUTELY

  • I have been a fan of johnny for 52 years and he is the best.

  • Very nice version. Johnny Mathis is always at his best with his songs. Thanks so much for posting.

  • WOW having listened to this, ican think of at least 20 or more doowop song that this master of voice can sing. All to a perfection. Where were you when i was doing doowops on the streets of the Bronx Mr Mathis. Thank you for this rendition of this lovely song.

  • You're welcome and thanks for coming by. You should be able to find at least two more of the "doo wop" type sound with JM singing, on my channel...."Since I Don't Have You" and "For Your Love." You can find them by clicking on the photo of JM on the top right which leads to my lists of songs here. Enjoy.

  • This song says it all. Today, on Facebook, I came across the girl I fell in love with 40 yrs. ago when Johnny was singing 'The Twelfth of Never" and 'Wonderful, Wonderful'.

  • Oh, how nice. I'm glad you shared a piece of your life with us. Thank you.

  • Thank you for this wonderful video. What a pleasure to listen to words that have no cursing, beautiful smiles, clean and neatly dressed couples. How could the music take such a drastic dive, does anyone fall in love anymore or is that a thing of the past also?

  • Thanks so much for the kind words and I totally agree with you. I hope these songs never go out of style and that the younger generation hears them and realizes what they are missing. Thankfully, I hear from young people who really love Johnny Mathis music and also, in my own family, the young people do. So, there are quite a few young girls and guys who realize the value of this music.

  • Well at least we are sure of two things, the young people in your family and the young people in my family are exposed to all this wonderful music. In fact, Johnny Mathis Christmas CD (the one with him holding skis) is the Christmas CD that my children play 1st before any other holiday CD.. Maybe as we get closer to the holidays, you can put a Xmas video together..

  • I will try to do that. I have something in mind for the holidays. Yes, you're right. The kids have to be exposed to this music to appreciate it. I have an eight-year-old granddaughter who said to me the other day...."Put on some Johnny music" which isn't the first time she asked. However, this time she added, why don't I like the new music, Grandma?" I guess because she has a good ear.

  • Well once again we have something in common, you have an eight year old granddaughter and I have two granddaughters, a 10 and 15 year old. When they were a few years younger, I dressed them up with poodle skirts, white blouses, and a neckerchief tied around their necks, like I used to wear, and had them learn all the words to 'Lipstick on your Collar" by Connie Francis. They did a great job performing for the whole family, and every time they hear that song, they know all the words.

  • Beautiful version. Thanks for sharing.

  • I love this song. If you like this one, you will like what I have coming up in a few weeks that I've been working on. : )

  • I agree. Johnny Mathis just seems to know how to put just the right emotion into a song. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I'm happy you liked it.

  • We just don't hear good music like this much anymore. The music itself, along with the lyrics, is wonderful to listen to even if it was only an instrumental . I like other artists' versions, too, but for me Johnny has the perfect emotion to put this beautiful song over. Whomever wrote it did one heck of a job with such meaningful lyrics. Thank you once more for sharing this classic. - Paula

  • Nobody is better than anyone else. We are just all different. You make wonderful videos.

And, I still like you even though you call me Grandma. LOL!

  • It's amazing this song was written in '37. It sounds so 50's! Never heard Johnny sing this one before. Thanks!

  • You're welcome.

  • I do so lonv this old classic. It's done so beautifully by Johnny and your pictures here are done so well. This song is really great to dance to - a sweet waltz. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • Thank you. Yes, he was quite handsome. I wish the last picture showed up clearer in the video. Don't know why it wouldn't when it was fine on my computer. I don't own any of those fix-the-picture programs. :)

  • What a touching video!!! Love the past/present picture of the couple on the merry-go-round. Beautiful job! And, you are right, the husband was GORGEOUS! :)
