can someone help me with my flares... lol i can do only 1 round sometimes but most of the times my right legs keeps falling down and i can stop that... im doing it counterslockwise...:D
@Nevadison i'm 5'2 at the time of this video i weighed 120 lbs with 4% body fat. You need a good core to hold your body up, but you don't need to be a hulk. What helped me was handstand and planche (no feet) pushups, sit ups and splits, other than that just tons of patience and socks. lol
@Nevadison it's not strength, it's the technique of torquing your hips, which is hard to understand at first..anyone is capable of flaring...upper body strength will give you awesome control of flares
@sae05z I was taught at a young age, but I couldn't ever get my head around it. It took about 1 year maybe less. I only learned them on floor because of a dare from my gymnastics friends my 8th grade year.
@soonergymnast1967 hey thanks for answering my question (have to answer it on my friends channel thanks to gmail ) but do u think i can get a pair in cannada cuz my grandad is on there and i dont want to get injured again. take care
@thecrismaster099 hey no problem. If you like, you can google Tiger Paw Gymnastics Wrist Supports and get a quote on shipping. I believe it will be some where between $22-$25 American dollars for shipping. The Item itself is $49.95.
@soonergymnast1967 Well, you could probably do without flare>hand actually. Since your flares are as high as they are right now, you could probably learn airflares from flares easier than you think. Most of the bboys in my scene that have clean airflares learned from flare ^__^
@BuddyAMP I love to learn it! So I just keep my hips up, post on my arm and pop with the hips right? I think come the 14th I'm going to play with some ^_^.
I don't know how successful I will be but hey I'll give it a shot, lol.
@soonergymnast1967 Pretty much! It's hard to explain with word, but I'd look at some really good bboys do airflares in some videos on here. Just keep in mind that the kick is still the same as your flare kick, because it's just a flare variation where the hand's placement is different. You'll get it in no time!
I'm sitting in my dorm being warm with Bethy and Johnny since we don't have practice. I was actually wanting to train something other than floor but NOOO the weather had to ruin it, lol.
For me it's second nature, but the guys I've taught in the past can't get use to it because it forces you to focus just a little more than usual. Also if you already keep your legs straight, it will make your lines look so much better. It will look very crisp and clean like a board.
Best of luck to you in your adventures!
Watch some of your videos and I have to say keep up the good work!
First off, thank you for asking rather than bashing.
Our rules demand that we show perfect form such as perfect handstands, pointed toes, straight arms and legs. If we don't, we will be deducted points. If we were competing those points that were lost, could have won a medal on that certain event.
gymnasts keep their legs straight and split them, so they're easier than break dance normal flares, anyway many break dancer can split their legs too, so the 2 kinds of flares are almost the same
Yep, gymnast flare with mainly their shoulders legs and back. Whereas break dancers flare with mainly their hips, lower back and thighs. If we could combine the two techniques they would be amazing to watch.
don't forget gymnast flares are higher, cleaner, and wider(legs spred apart). it would be amazing to see a combination of bboy and gymnast flares. and your flares are fast as ever.. very clean tho.
They are definately NOT higher, these are low as hell compared to bboy flares =S since we use the hips, i huess you do to if you don't do this, and this causes the body to gain more height.
They're both equally hard to master, but I would say it's personal preferences to which is easier to learn. Flaring with your shoulders just means trying to flare to handstand with each and every flare.
Hey, I forgot my password so im using this profile i created, Yes i have, I was spotted ten times standing 2 days ago, I was told that I caught on much quicker than most students, sorry to tute my horn, yes ill subscribe if i get a tutorial vid for my back flip

age doesnt matter im not a gymnast but a bboy who can perform flares. Just watch a person do a flare, Go home practice 100 times and you can flare. Dont complain too much if you just train you will just get it =d
In gymnastics age does matter because we don't want our students to suffer irregular muscle or bone development. Once we have passed the minimum age we are allowed to perform up to a certain degree of difficultly. Other than that it just depends on the athletes determination and skill. I agree the more you complain the further behind you will become.
yeah well, at young age kids indeed can suffer pain in the muscles later. But it just depends how much the kid want it you know. Most kids dont work hard to achieve their goals..
But yeah .. I'm only 13 so i shouldn't really be talking like this. Anyways i got my flares down ;)
hey sooner gymnast just looking at your flare vid again... i have been trainign flares for around 2-3 month now, not consistent but about once a week. My problem (going clockwise) is that when my right leg has to rise the right side of my face i collapse and my left leg hits the floor. its so annoying. do you think I need more strength. what is good strength trainign for flares? planche strength and oress strength? I can old l sit for 25 seconds and can do circles (although very sloppy)
Give me a month and I'll be back in shape and I will start posting videos. I'm sorry to everyone about posting videos, I'm in the process of building a race car. I also have my first race back is in July so my priorities are hot laps and tuning. I promise though I will have more videos very very soon.
Being tall does play a little factor in learning. Though it all depends on your coach and your willingness to learn. I've taught a handful of guys that were 5'8-6'2 how to swing pommel so it is very plausible for someone of your height.
WOW those flares are amazing! How did u learn that and how long did it take u? Are there any exercises for flares appart from just trying over and over again to do them?
I started gymnastics when I was young. When I was 7-10 years my coach Vladimir taught me circle, Russians, spindles, and moores and then finally flares. I started when I was 9 and it took me around a year to achieve two flares so when I was 11 I was already doing 4 or 5. There's a shortcut, but if you want to reach your maximum potential then I suggest learning circles, spindles, and moores first and get use to your body's movements. Then work on flexibility like sitting in the splits for 30 min.
After almost a year and a half of rehabilitation and surgeries December 21st is going to be my official day back into the gym. That means December 29th I am going to be updating my videos. So stay tuned...
upper body strength i meant. btw you look weightless. how many STANDARD pushups can you do? and how long did it take you to get flares? can you airtrack?
Strength and flexibility can only go so far, but if you don't understand your body and how to control it in the proper manner than the other two elements are meaning less. My standard work outs consist of a 4 hour morning practise than a 5 hours afternoon practise. On schedule I do about 200 chinups, 240 triceps and standard pushups, and 150 planche pushups (no feet) and 50 handstands (no wall). Then 1 hour of stretching. to be continued...
thats crazy. now I realise why I don't make much progress. I don't train hard enough. I'm now inspired to train harder. I usualy only stretch for 5 minutes!
Here's what I did at a young age and I still do today. When ever I watch television, play video games, read, book work, etc. I sit in each split for 30 minutes a piece or I sit in a long straddle. So not only I am doing something that helps my progression, but I am also doing something 'entertaining.'
You should always stretch before practise, which you said that you always do which is great. Just strive to be great and you'll do just fine!Good luck!!:)
gahh glahh blahh*drooles allll over screen in jelousy and amazment* blahh arg!omg i hate you in a loving way damnit, now i have to work a million times harder lol,BUT IM GUNNA HAVE THOSE RAAAAAGGHHH!!!!
In the 1 hour stretching I do 20 minutes of weighted splits= Body elevated one foot on a mat with a 8 kg bell. Back breakers which looks like a wrestling move that someone does I believe his name is Jericho idk lol. Than miscellaneous stretches such as shoulders, biceps, triceps, chest, and quads. Then I work on my rotating joints such as my hips, shoulders, wrists, neck and back. Hope this helps.
i love doing flares :)

@sam20991 personal preference really. A lot of people like bboy flares and a lot of people like gymnastics flares.

@sam20991 Gymnast Flares are more straighter legs and pointed feet b boying it does not really matter if your leg that sight
kingpedro65 2 months ago
@sam20991 usually the difference has to do with how the legs are spread, moved, lifted.

koreanbboy2000 3 years ago
handstand push ups, chin ups, and planche push ups are great strength builders for this skill.

what are planche push ups

Hey, is it truew that flares are all about strength and flexibility of the legs rather than technique?
I have been told it is.
Also your flares are great.

upper body strength i meant. btw you look weightless. how many STANDARD pushups can you do? and how long did it take you to get flares? can you airtrack?

if you look at his triceps they look really hard.. but his lower body is weight less... just his. top.

Thnaks for your help

Here's what I did at a young age and I still do today. When ever I watch television, play video games, read, book work, etc. I sit in each split for 30 minutes a piece or I sit in a long straddle. So not only I am doing something that helps my progression, but I am also doing something 'entertaining.'
You should always stretch before practise, which you said that you always do which is great. Just strive to be great and you'll do just fine!Good luck!!:)
