FJ60 with V8 6.2L Turbo Diesel

I have an 84 fj60 that I plan to put a 300 horse 6.5L in, how dod you fit the bigger radiator in there, and do you you have an intercooler in there too?

There's no intercooler, but it's getting about 22mpg in Colorado. It's living with a client right now, and he is happy with it.

Your starter in this vid sounds shot. It's spinning way too slowly. You'll burn up the armature and pit the hell out of the commutator. That and it sounds like you've got injector issues based on how rough the engine sounds when it first starts running. That or your glowpugs aren't staying on long enough.

@iamdave0887 yep, the starter was shot. I replaced it and it made a world of difference.  Glow plugs caused it to run rough for a minute when cold. This vid is of a cold start in 30* weather

@torslinning How long do your glowplugs run for? Drop in some Bosch Duraterm part #80034 and run them for ~10 seconds. It'll make cold starting much easier. It makes my 6.2 blazer fire up with almost no smoke, even in the dead of winter.

Diesel engines do not have a typical tach output like gasser engines do. Since this engine was transplanted into this chassis, the tach was not able to work at the time the video was taken

yea, the pump was turned up, and I'm thinking about an intercooler. I'll have to see after finishing the ac unit if there's enough room.

The banks makes a good difference on this engine, but can only boost to 10psi. This is the same car, but I performed a body swap due to some unwanted rodent history in the other body. The gray is much cleaner.

did u turn pump up to compensate for extra air from turbo?

Hi, how do you find it with the banks turbo, much better? I have a vid of my landrover with 6.2 and have thought about putting banks on it, Looks good in the cruiser, is this the same one you used to have painted? old one was white?
