I ride a Honda cbr 600 '97(f3) and a 50cc scooter (gilera dna).

I go right on red lights, I go 2x the speed limit, I overtake on the "wrong" side, and I slap off mirrors when people threaten to kill me, bcause they feel that I "jump the queue".

I've never been in an accident, except on the track.

I've had lots of close calls, and 9/10 have been caused by cars, going below the speed limit.

That depends on how experienced you are :)

As a first bike, 250cc is a good choice. It has got enough power to challenge anyone that isn't an experienced rider. Yet, it's not so powerful that it'll kill you the first time you underestimate the throttle.

But if you've spent a couple 1000 miles/km on a scooter, or any other motorised 2-wheeler, the smalles one i'd go for is a 400cc.

No matter what, I'd never recommend buying a brand new bike.

You can get as much fun, quality & good looks, for ½ or even 1/3 of the price.

If you mainly ride in congested cities, a supermotard is also worth considering.

like suzuki dr z 400 sm. They have got an ass-load of power, up to 150 kmh.

And they're MUCH easier/funnier to maneuver at low speeds. +wheelies are easier to learn.

As a first-bike i'd recommend cbr 250/ninja 250/ supermotard 400-700cc
