I'm not saying your statement is wrong by any means I am just saying not all of us are racist, maybe they were trying to portray the young girl as what a young girl would wear compared to an older woman. In the end it shows his wife and she was in a bikini and sash thing just like everyone else. Everything isn't always about race, the poster you talked about that might be racist but the movie itself I don't feel they portray as racist.
I haven't seen Precious, but I think the black people in the movie are supposed to be 'ghetto'. They're finacially challenged, and that's what the movie is partially about, from what I've seen. If I am correct there are finacially challenged black people in the United States of America. I haven't seen the movie, though.
Oh please don't go there with the Hispanics and the African Americans. They are two separate races. I never check African American when there is a Hispanic choice. I am Puerto rican-not black. My ancestors are from puerto Rico not Africa thank you.-_-
even if Faizon is not known, there was a girl on there who is only known for veronica mars, which was not even a really popular show, and on forgetting sarah marshall, so what outstanding work did she do that she is more known than Faizon
Hey girl. You are beautiful and your hair is always fierce....did I say fierce!?!?! Okay, the precious movie was so horrible to me. I don't know if you've seen it but in my opinion it wasn't good! I loved blind side though! That's all I wanted to say! Keep doing your thing and be blessed!
Sad as it is, most Black actors that might be familiar in the US are not marketable or recognizable in international markets. Maybe in your circle this Fazon person is well known, but no one knows him in Europe or Asia. Heck, most White Americans don't even know who that is. Studios are out to market the actors in the film that will bring in the most money, not political correctness.
@angeliajray I don't care what it sounds like to you, it's REALITY. Go ask someone in Asia or the Middle East if they've ever heard of Fazon or would pay to see a movie of his. Good luck trying to sell that one.
honestly precious was the worst movie i have ever seen and i've watched Honey twice! im sick of these negative black movies, there is not one redeeming quality in it. i will no longer watch anything produced or written by tyler perry b/c he seems intent on ruining the black imgae and oprah is on thin ice with me. if u watched the trailer thats basically the movie there is no satisfying conclusion at the end of the movie
I live in the uk and I totally agree. The white people here(not all, but trust me quite a bit) are RACIST. Yes I said it, they are as racist, if not more that white Americans, they try to make their racism subtle and that's even worse. I mean in this year 2009, a documentary was done and a primary school teacher(someone who is believed to look after children), said she was SUPRISED when a black child fell over and scratched their face and the skin underneath was pink!!! Yeh, it's that bad...
@amazingracepp That ch4 doc you're talking about was shown during UK black history month (genius timing!) Overt racism you can draw attention to and complain about. The covert stuff on the other hand makes you do a double take i.e. Am I being paranoid? Did I miss understand? Did he just say what I think he did? By the time you figure out the answers are No, No, YES it feels like it has become to late to deal with it. The longer we stay quite the more theyll think they can get away with.
So true, did you see the way she described the man with locks? She said he looked "ragged" just because of his locks and she said if she looked like he did she wouldn't go to her child's school. She also described someone as "halfcast" and at the end she claimed she's not racist. That woman was...is gassed
aww sorry you haven't seen it..i know you've mentioned where you live before so i'm really surprised that it's not showing in your area...that's a shock!
I saw Couples Retreat and i thought the movie was funny but the black girl was supposed to be really young, immature and somewhat ghetto. I don't know why they had to take the black people out of the UK poster, there are tons of black people in the UK , it was really weird.
Hi bgwc713 I have a ton of white friends and would you believe that they did not know racism still existed!!!!! It blew my mind away! I totally feel this rant. Forgive me if I say this wrong but a lot of times white ppl are so oblivious to racism. Maybe try to look at it from our perspective. Thanks!
omg..do you have any white friends? I love your vidoe's and think you do a wonderful job but this kinda freaked me out. Im a white woman so maybe I don't see racism unless it is right in my face. I never even noticed anything different in the movie. Does that mean you look for it and I was just enjoying the movie?
bg: Yes racism is everwhere, it is subtle at times. I try not to dwell on it but it's there. Black people are still looked down on, pushed aside, etc. But since you are a white woman when the opportunity arises, I'm sure you will speak up against racism and discrimination so they(the ones speaking it) will know that it is wrong. I speak up against ppl of my own race at times when they are being unnecessarily discriminatory against someone white or otherwise.
I just wanted to add that I live in Columbus O PRECIOUS wasn't being shown in theaters here either....We are not a small city!!!! We were sick so what the community did along with local radio stations was approach several theater about why they weren't showing the movie. Two weeks later 3 theaters showed the movie!! Yes I do agree that black movies are not shown the same respect that other movies are but sometimes you just have to make some noise. The other reaason I will remain QUIET about....
After reading all of the comments and seeing how many people have seen it online says a lot and confirms what I said. Black movies are doomed to fail...well any movie that is released in "select theaters" because folks aren't going to be inconvenienced by driving far to go see it...especially in this economy. For the record...Couples' Retreat can be seen on those sites as well.
The issue with Precious is that they want to see that its pulling money before they put it more theaters - lame excuse, but it is what it is. If you noticed in LA it was showing in "black" theaters mainly with a few others sprinkled in there. As the weeks went by it was showing in more theaters. I think the distribution people do this on purpose knowing that the harder it is for folks to see it they will start getting it on bootleg...My friend complained that Couples' Retreat was racist.
did yall see that on the UK version of the poster that Faizon's name is not even listed and he is t he only one not listed...This is just some foolery
"Precious" was a fantastic movie to me. While it had really shocking parts, I think it brings attention to child abuse that many ignore. I am sorry that its availability is so scattered, but if you have a chance to support it, please do!
"The Blind Side" has by far been the best movie I have seen this year. Inspiring and funny! Shows there are truly good people in this world.
I am also upset that Precious is not showing everywhere. I live in NC and the town I'm in, just decided to show it. It's ridiculous that a movie like this is only playing in select cities, but they show garbage all over the place.
Ok to be hoest in the UK Faizon and some of the other actors arent that well known. However we feel that if thy are gonna cut out the black couple (cause they arent well know) then they should cut out some of the other couples too, cause they arent that well known eirther. Its such a stupid excuse and we dont believe it. They just didnt want black people in it. Well they messed with the wrong country cause UK is very sensitive when it comes to race.
I saw couples retreat and honestly you're not missing anything. That messed that they don't consider him to be well know. Somebody knew to cast in the movies...BS. You are so right they always have black actor playing the ghetto role and just how they portrayed his girlfriend in this movie. I didn't find it funny at all.
I still waiting for Fantastic Mr. Fox. They should upload that soon.
Yeah I'm not surprise that they cut Faizon out of the movie. He was great in Idlewild. How many other black actor/actresses can act their butts off but are playing extras while the white can't-act-for-ish actors/actress are getting all the leading roles? Ridiculous.
Just because black people know him is doesn't mean everyone does, I'm black and shoot, I don't know who the hell he is. Not everything has to be a race thing, real talk.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Faizon is well known, sorry you have not realized that. BIG WORM FRIDAY ((HELLO)) The Parent Hood (back in the day), Movies: The Perfect Holiday, Who's Your Caddy, Idlewild, The Fighting Temptations, Made, 3 Strikes, The Players Club, Money Talks, B*A*P*S, A Thin LIne Between Love and Hate, Meteor Man, Bebe's Kids. When you don't recognize race issue, you remain ignorant!
no no no, ignorance is thinking everyone watches afro centric movies. I'm sorry but I'm not going to be the stereotype going to movies to only watch black related stuff. Tell me, in that list of movies you named, is there anything that ISN'T related to black people that he's in? No. Thank you.
If you really read what was conveyed, I stated ignorance is when race issues remain oblivious. Yes I stated movies that are more african american related, however, these were mentioned because these are movies Faizon acted in.
The matter is not about 'thinking' everyone views these movies. It is not about watching only 'black' movies, however it is about being well rounded and not just relating to one race. When you make comments be ready for a response. I have nothing to do with the movies that Faizon acted in or the movies/scripts that he chose, obviously that was his decision. I just provided movies that you may have seen....and You're Welcome!!
Because I'm black I have to watch those movies? I HATE those movies. They convey stereotypes and have the same actors in them every time, i.e; Faizon, I'm saying, I agree about the poster thing, its one-sided, but the way she blew it up like oh yeah faizon is so well known, nah, man, he really isn't. And on top of that, Faizon isn't even black, he's Cuban, Like people really need to read up on their shit before spazzing out on youtube.
Cuban is black or colored rather. It depends on who is looking and what you are looking at, Faizon may not be popular to you but to others he may! I understand how you fell however, yes these movies depict stereotypes in which sometimes we do not want to associate with nevertheless it is nothing to get upset about ; )
Yes, that is true, no one ever likes to hear they are black. I said colored and that means we fall into the same category, whether or not they like it. They don't get looked at any different either. Also, some hispanics are darker than afr am. That's just history for you whether or not one likes it!
BUT SHE SAID WHITE. DON'T NOBODY COMPLAIN WHEN PEOPLE CALL WHITE PEOPLE WHITE. Everything is freaking colored. He is cuban. That is hispanic. Hispanic =/= African American. Dark tinted or not, I don't understand how that classifies as history, because fact of the matter is, even if they have african roots, its still hispanic, please just stop trying to change my opinion, black people, yes, black people, always wanna be up in arms when it's easy to be up in arms! End that.
It is excuse me. Now as I see it you are classifying yourself. I am by NO means at any attempt to change your opinion, your opinion is yours and it cannot be altered in anyway. However, I am stating facts as it is rendered in history. I am not going to get into what and who does what when people call people whatever color! BlackOnyx stated how she felt and replied. I then replied to the statedment by lending you some knowledge, this has absolutely gone too far and it is not that serious.
It's not that serious but you'll keep going back and forth right? If they're facts, show me, just because you believe it is true it doesn't mean it's a fact, give me concrete tangible evidence. You're coming out and jumping down my throat telling me I'm wrong because I don't think hispanic and black is the same thing and you're telling me it's fact that they are? Really? So why the fuck does the term hispanic even exist? If it was the same shit they would be called the same shit.
Ok, I had to go to your channel to see whom I am replying to. The only one that is ignorant is you. I am not jumping down your throat. Whenever knowledge is received in a manner that allots facts, it is always presumed as jumping. The fact that you are cursing deems you as ignorant, the fact that I am replying and I said it is not that serious it is not. I see you have a lot to learn you are still young, not because of your age, because of your attitude with the whole situation.
You're calling me ignorant because of my age? Wow. You're telling me it allots facts but I ask you for sources and where are they? I'm asking you to show you me your alleged facts and where's that at? IN THE WIND. It's not a presumption if you are indeed actually jumping. You're calling me ignorant when I asked you for sources, then had the nerve to go and check my age and blame things on that. I don't see how cussing makes you ignorant, it makes you a person with cuss words in your vernacular.
Reading is fundamental. I stated the ignorant label is because of your cursing Not so much your age, read the last sentence again. Please sometimes it take one to read things over several times before a response. Think, think, think = Response. No cursing is a lack of a supercedent vocabulary and read this definition of vernacular: 1 a : using a language or dialect native to a region or country rather than a literary, cultured, or foreign language
I'm glad you can give me the definition for stuff that has nothing to do with your original point but still can't point out sources. You should gwan because at the end of all this, you still CAN'T back up what your initial point was, if you're so educated, educate others silly ho. You're beating around the bush now, I asked you for sources three times, if you're not providing them then kindly be quiet, grown ass woman arguing on the internet while calling people ignant, shame on you.
@theeSHXT awwee, you seem as though you are getting upset! Yes, I am a grown woman, however, when someone seems lost I do my best to give the knowledge they need and deserve. I listed the link several times but for some reason it is not allowing me to post. Ask before you assume because when you assume it makes a _ _ _ out of you. I will send the link to you since as though youtube is not allowing me to post it. You have a wonderful day sweeite, a shame you have to resort to calling me names
Yes, the term Hispanic does exist, but that doesn't make it correct. I always check black not Hispanic on any form that asks for my RACE. The term Hispanic has done nothing but divide people even more. Many Hispanics who are black will deny being so and some black Americans won't accept that black Hispanics are black. It is very sad and I hope that one day the term Hispanic labeled as a separate race of people will be dropped. I am proudly descended from Africans.
Half of my family is Hispanic, and they will claim being black just as fast as they will claim being Hispanic. All of our roots are from Africa. Just because they got off the slave ship a little sooner than some does not mean they deny their true origins. Hispanic is a combination of Indian, African, and Spaniards. I really hope you are not from the islands because the thought of you not knowing where you came from is sickening and sad.
Your family has an identity problem then. Black and hispanic is not the same thing, please do some research. You're being rude and implying I don't know where I came from because I don't believe Hispanics are Blacks? Sweetheart, I know where I came from, I know my roots like the back of my hand, but I also know people
can tell the difference between me and a hispanic person, I live in NY, I see em everyday, they are not the same thing. True origins and what they are now are two things. Do they have african roots? Yes. They do. No denying that, but they are Hispanic, not black. Don't you dare tell me I don't know where I came from because it's obvious you just take any minority and throw them in a category. It's nice to see what kind of people follow this channel, truly ignorant, just like it's host.
Hispanic is a culture, not a race of people. Just like you have black and white Americans, you have black and white Hispanics. I am from Panama, that is simply my cultural heritage. My race is black. One has nothing to do with the other. Many people I run into when I am out ask me if I am from Africa. No one ever guesses Panama. No one in my family calls our race Hispanic. We are black people who simply happen to be from a Spanish culture. That does not make us less black.
I will agree with you that he is popular within the black community, but compared the Vince Vaughn and two other folks in the film (I can't remember their names) he isn't that well known. But the poster issue is a lame excuse. The article talked about Will Smith not being known. I have to disagree with that statement. However, that is my personal opinion; I don't have any official data saying how popular anyone is. CR is based on 4 couples so they should be shown on the poster.
I agree!! Sheer bull crap! Sister dear..don't even let me get started..they have me at my wits end with all the foolishness they let slip..and it's like no don't bring up race..but they are clearly still abusing it against all types of minorities (blacks, hispanics etc) but man..yeh..I hear u! And I agree that was sheer B.S. the excuses they made.
girl you might as well watch it online by that time...cuz thats what i had to do...grant it they are playing in the city that i am located in...but i am in school...you might as well just give it in an watch it online...my roomate and i saqw it clear as day full and loud :)
I feel you on the Couples Retreat posters. They put some fuscia hair pieces in the black woman's hair. I hate they didn't give her a classic look. Every black woman doesn't have loud pink hair in their head but that's how they chose to portray us... its sad.
Well i agree but the whole thing about them be in pjs. is that his gf is like 20 and she is immature and makes him act that way too. Their whole storyline is she makes him feel young again.
listen - the uk is quietly and loudly racist. the fact that anytime a black movie is on its only at select cinemas or they are never spoken of as starring in the film. this is not a 1st. I am from the Uk and trust me this does not surprise me.
Wait for video rental for Couples Retreat. Yeah, I saw that the black folks were not in one pic and the other one, they are way way way in the back. WTF? I saw this movie (at the cheapie show) Faizon was so funny. The black woman in the pic in a youngster that he in dating not his wife. At any rate, bootleg it. See how hollywood plays us???? The ans that they gave was so BS for the UK poster.
I think precious was only released in major cities and if it does very well there maybe they'll open it in smaller towns......I think that statement by the management was full of crap i lived in London for six months and i saw many movie posters with black people n even if not one poster had a black person why couldn't they be the first to do it. It's just wrong.
I hear you>>>Its just like seeing some of these previews for the princess in the frog which is the first black disney princess. Sometimes they don't even show her in the previews.
Not only that omgiheartvideos, why does the first black disney princess which was inspired so many years after many young black girls only saw disney princesses portrayed as something other than what we were. Now this movie has voodoo in it!!!
Precious is a really sad movie and it really upsetted me how when i went to see it and rude people in the movie were laughing. This is a true story, why laugh at someone that has went thru this some people are soo heartless!
im from the UK and honestly suprised by the couples retreat poster, call it ignorance but i always thought that racial discrimination was more riff in america, totally understand your qualms with it though, keep speaking your mind!
that is weird because precious is playing here in toronto. it is probably only playing in major cities. the publicist said in europe that faizon guy is not known and they wanted to showcase the known actors who happens to be white. to be honest the only person i knew on that movie cover was vince vaughan.lol
never heard of the movie couples retreat. is this playing in select cities? never even saw a preview or poster...i'm lost....btw precious was good. pretty much follows the book (of course some stuff was taken out) makes me glad that i'm social worker!
yea girl. thats pisses me off though.. what the hell. why us as african women and men treat so bad.. i mean can you leave the past and just change for better.. because we all son and daughters of God.. so no color no culture will make us better than anyone.. only your brain.. so they ain't using thier head.. just being stupid asses.. lol..
I live in the black area in NY so I only saw the poster with all of the couples and the black coulpe wasn't wearing PJ's in that poster. But, I totally feel you. It's annoying and prejudice.
yes i just seen the couples retreat posters and in another one the white couples are conservitively dressed and the black gurl got sum damn pink and black hair with a tacky ass dress that look like a crayon box threw up all over her... i wonder does faizon and her realize that! ps precious wait til it comes on dvd i seen it on boot leg! ;-D
Haha girl I was so glad that they were showing Precious the second week it was released here in Killeen, TX. I was surprised. I feel you, because I want to see "The Road" and it's only in select theatres right now too. I would have to drive all the way to Austin, TX... But I've noticed the Couple's Retreat propaganda how they always put the black people to the side or to the back, never in the center and always dress them down to make white people look better, it's a shame it's like that in 2009
Oh, and that's exactly why I don't see 'those' types of movies! Excuses are like butts..we all have one! "They" always like to add a few black people just because they have to. I will not go see Couples Retreat..even though I never cared to see it.
I concur! I'm in the Navy and in Washington State, I had to drive an hour and a half to see Dreamgirls when it came out! I live 2-3 hours from Seattle and would've had to drive out there to see Precious and Good Hair so I haven't seen either one! It's so racist here! I have so many stories!
I love your rant, girl!!! It hit on some issues that affect Black people. And I remember you saying you were president or co-chair of the BSU (I was a co-chair of my school's BSU for 2 yrs). So I can relate to your rant. It frustrates me so much too! I hate that ppl do something racist, and when called out on it, they have the lamest excuse!!! B/c I knew plenty of ppl at my college who did that.
They said it was for audiences outside the US, and "The international marketplace is still fairly racist." By "racist" are they implying that "the world hates Blacks"? Or even more insidious "the world loves whites"? THEY WISH!!
The most well-known person on the face of the planet is Bob Marley. His picture could go to the mountains of outer Mongolia and they will know his face AND his name AND his legacy. Close seconds are Pele and Michael Jackson. Suck on that, Hollywood.
preach girl......lol it still exist!!!! very much too. We are a choosen people and they(white people) know that. they try to put us on the back burner. but i feel you girl!!
I feel u on the precious release... I was like Why advertise it on my TV if yall aint playing it in my city!!!..hope you've seen it by now tho..if not u might have to drive to st petersburg
Im so sorry you didnt get a chance to see Precious. I live in chicago and it at the theater but its not in Indiana where my sister goes to school. That is just crazy.
so i know this is kinda cheating but i just watched the movie online (no i didnt download), but just viewed it. cause i dont even think its out in my city either. i hope you get to see it soon
Girl, I went back home [in college] for Thanksgiving and they JUST put Precious in the nearest movie theater (in DC, its been out FOR-EVER). Wait it out, it might get there.
Couples Retreat looked like a dumb movie anyway, not getting my money.
Now you make me feel bad because its here in Vegas and i keep putting it off but i hear its really good but sad.Even men talk about it so i will say when you can go see it go for it girl....
Precious is deep. I saw it the 2nd week of release. Of course it's playing everywhere in the DC area. May I suggest that you also read the book. There's a slight difference. Now, go to bed! :)
I forgot to add that Saphire, the author, has stated the Precious is a compilation of three of her students. This madness IS really occurring everyday. That's why I believe the movie really hits home.
The book is way more graphic. If you can take sexual abuse on an infant then read the book. Otherwise, I wouldn't read it and I'm an abuse survivor. The movie gives you enough to see how bad the girl was abused.
read the book first, if you want i can send you mine. Watch my book review on my channel if you want...the book was way better than the movie...more deep. The movie was heart breaking also though
Select theaters means it only plays in New York, Los Angeles, and maybe a few cities that have theaters near well- known film schools.

Thanks!
gracefulbeauty1985 2 years ago 7
omg..do you have any white friends? I love your vidoe's and think you do a wonderful job but this kinda freaked me out. Im a white woman so maybe I don't see racism unless it is right in my face. I never even noticed anything different in the movie. Does that mean you look for it and I was just enjoying the movie?
bgwc713 2 years ago
bg: Yes racism is everwhere, it is subtle at times.

I didn't notice the clothing thing..hmmm I wonder if the advertisers would do the same for a hispanic, asian, middle eastern acting couple.

The other reaason I will remain QUIET about....
msdyamonddiva 2 years ago
After reading all of the comments and seeing how many people have seen it online says a lot and confirms what I said. Black movies are doomed to fail...well any movie that is released in "select theaters" because folks aren't going to be inconvenienced by driving far to go see it...especially in this economy. For the record...Couples' Retreat can be seen on those sites as well.
sisterboyd 2 years ago
The issue with Precious is that they want to see that its pulling money before they put it more theaters - lame excuse, but it is what it is. If you noticed in LA it was showing in "black" theaters mainly with a few others sprinkled in there. As the weeks went by it was showing in more theaters. I think the distribution people do this on purpose knowing that the harder it is for folks to see it they will start getting it on bootleg...My friend complained that Couples' Retreat was racist.
sisterboyd 2 years ago
did yall see that on the UK version of the poster that Faizon's name is not even listed and he is t he only one not listed...This is just some foolery
MzCfromShoMe 2 years ago 2
"Precious" was a fantastic movie to me. While it had really shocking parts, I think it brings attention to child abuse that many ignore. I am sorry that its availability is so scattered, but if you have a chance to support it, please do!
"The Blind Side" has by far been the best movie I have seen this year. Inspiring and funny! Shows there are truly good people in this world.

It's weird that Precious isn't showing in some cities. I live in Nashville, TN, and it's been showing here since the day it was released initially.
EtherealLuv 2 years ago

AfricancoolChic 2 years ago 2
why dont you just watch it online??? Thee are soo many websites.
AfricancoolChic 2 years ago
I saw couples retreat and honestly you're not missing anything. That messed that they don't consider him to be well know. Somebody knew to cast in the movies...BS. You are so right they always have black actor playing the ghetto role and just how they portrayed his girlfriend in this movie. I didn't find it funny at all.

You can watch "Precious" online free here:

I still waiting for Fantastic Mr. Fox. They should upload that soon.
Yeah I'm not surprise that they cut Faizon out of the movie. He was great in Idlewild. How many other black actor/actresses can act their butts off but are playing extras while the white can't-act-for-ish actors/actress are getting all the leading roles? Ridiculous.

Faizon isn't well known girlie.
Just because black people know him is doesn't mean everyone does, I'm black and shoot, I don't know who the hell he is. Not everything has to be a race thing, real talk.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Faizon is well known, sorry you have not realized that. BIG WORM FRIDAY ((HELLO)) The Parent Hood (back in the day), Movies: The Perfect Holiday, Who's Your Caddy, Idlewild, The Fighting Temptations, Made, 3 Strikes, The Players Club, Money Talks, B*A*P*S, A Thin LIne Between Love and Hate, Meteor Man, Bebe's Kids. When you don't recognize race issue, you remain ignorant!
smissmurray 2 years ago 2
no no no, ignorance is thinking everyone watches afro centric movies. I'm sorry but I'm not going to be the stereotype going to movies to only watch black related stuff. Tell me, in that list of movies you named, is there anything that ISN'T related to black people that he's in? No. Thank you.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
If you really read what was conveyed, I stated ignorance is when race issues remain oblivious. Yes I stated movies that are more african american related, however, these were mentioned because these are movies Faizon acted in.
smissmurray 2 years ago
The matter is not about 'thinking' everyone views these movies. It is not about watching only 'black' movies, however it is about being well rounded and not just relating to one race. When you make comments be ready for a response. I have nothing to do with the movies that Faizon acted in or the movies/scripts that he chose, obviously that was his decision. I just provided movies that you may have seen....and You're Welcome!!
smissmurray 2 years ago
Because I'm black I have to watch those movies? I HATE those movies. They convey stereotypes and have the same actors in them every time, i.e; Faizon, I'm saying, I agree about the poster thing, its one-sided, but the way she blew it up like oh yeah faizon is so well known, nah, man, he really isn't. And on top of that, Faizon isn't even black, he's Cuban, Like people really need to read up on their shit before spazzing out on youtube.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
Cuban is black or colored rather. It depends on who is looking and what you are looking at, Faizon may not be popular to you but to others he may! I understand how you fell however, yes these movies depict stereotypes in which sometimes we do not want to associate with nevertheless it is nothing to get upset about ; )
smissmurray 2 years ago
Cuban is hispanic. Go tell a cuban person they're black watch how they'll react lmao.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
Yes, that is true, no one ever likes to hear they are black. I said colored and that means we fall into the same category, whether or not they like it. They don't get looked at any different either. Also, some hispanics are darker than afr am. That's just history for you whether or not one likes it!
smissmurray 2 years ago
SCUSE ME COLORED.
End that.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
It is excuse me. Now as I see it you are classifying yourself. I am by NO means at any attempt to change your opinion, your opinion is yours and it cannot be altered in anyway. However, I am stating facts as it is rendered in history. I am not going to get into what and who does what when people call people whatever color! BlackOnyx stated how she felt and replied. I then replied to the statedment by lending you some knowledge, this has absolutely gone too far and it is not that serious.
smissmurray 2 years ago
It's not that serious but you'll keep going back and forth right? If they're facts, show me, just because you believe it is true it doesn't mean it's a fact, give me concrete tangible evidence. You're coming out and jumping down my throat telling me I'm wrong because I don't think hispanic and black is the same thing and you're telling me it's fact that they are? Really? So why the fuck does the term hispanic even exist? If it was the same shit they would be called the same shit.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
Ok, I had to go to your channel to see whom I am replying to. The only one that is ignorant is you. I am not jumping down your throat. Whenever knowledge is received in a manner that allots facts, it is always presumed as jumping. The fact that you are cursing deems you as ignorant, the fact that I am replying and I said it is not that serious it is not. I see you have a lot to learn you are still young, not because of your age, because of your attitude with the whole situation.
smissmurray 2 years ago
You're calling me ignorant because of my age? Wow. You're telling me it allots facts but I ask you for sources and where are they? I'm asking you to show you me your alleged facts and where's that at? IN THE WIND. It's not a presumption if you are indeed actually jumping. You're calling me ignorant when I asked you for sources, then had the nerve to go and check my age and blame things on that. I don't see how cussing makes you ignorant, it makes you a person with cuss words in your vernacular.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
Reading is fundamental. I stated the ignorant label is because of your cursing Not so much your age, read the last sentence again. Please sometimes it take one to read things over several times before a response. Think, think, think = Response. No cursing is a lack of a supercedent vocabulary and read this definition of vernacular: 1 a : using a language or dialect native to a region or country rather than a literary, cultured, or foreign language
smissmurray 2 years ago
I'm glad you can give me the definition for stuff that has nothing to do with your original point but still can't point out sources. You should gwan because at the end of all this, you still CAN'T back up what your initial point was, if you're so educated, educate others silly ho. You're beating around the bush now, I asked you for sources three times, if you're not providing them then kindly be quiet, grown ass woman arguing on the internet while calling people ignant, shame on you.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
@theeSHXT awwee, you seem as though you are getting upset! Yes, I am a grown woman, however, when someone seems lost I do my best to give the knowledge they need and deserve. I listed the link several times but for some reason it is not allowing me to post. Ask before you assume because when you assume it makes a _ _ _ out of you. I will send the link to you since as though youtube is not allowing me to post it. You have a wonderful day sweeite, a shame you have to resort to calling me names
smissmurray 2 years ago
Yes, the term Hispanic does exist, but that doesn't make it correct. I always check black not Hispanic on any form that asks for my RACE. The term Hispanic has done nothing but divide people even more. Many Hispanics who are black will deny being so and some black Americans won't accept that black Hispanics are black. It is very sad and I hope that one day the term Hispanic labeled as a separate race of people will be dropped. I am proudly descended from Africans.
saradekali 2 years ago 9
@saradekali: American blacks don't count Hispanics among their own, period
TheJimmyPopcorn 1 year ago
Half of my family is Hispanic, and they will claim being black just as fast as they will claim being Hispanic. All of our roots are from Africa. Just because they got off the slave ship a little sooner than some does not mean they deny their true origins. Hispanic is a combination of Indian, African, and Spaniards. I really hope you are not from the islands because the thought of you not knowing where you came from is sickening and sad.
Beautiesface25 2 years ago 3
Your family has an identity problem then. Black and hispanic is not the same thing, please do some research. You're being rude and implying I don't know where I came from because I don't believe Hispanics are Blacks? Sweetheart, I know where I came from, I know my roots like the back of my hand, but I also know people
theeSHXT 2 years ago
can tell the difference between me and a hispanic person, I live in NY, I see em everyday, they are not the same thing. True origins and what they are now are two things. Do they have african roots? Yes. They do. No denying that, but they are Hispanic, not black. Don't you dare tell me I don't know where I came from because it's obvious you just take any minority and throw them in a category. It's nice to see what kind of people follow this channel, truly ignorant, just like it's host.
theeSHXT 2 years ago
Hispanic is a culture, not a race of people. Just like you have black and white Americans, you have black and white Hispanics. I am from Panama, that is simply my cultural heritage. My race is black. One has nothing to do with the other. Many people I run into when I am out ask me if I am from Africa. No one ever guesses Panama. No one in my family calls our race Hispanic. We are black people who simply happen to be from a Spanish culture. That does not make us less black.
saradekali 2 years ago
I will agree with you that he is popular within the black community, but compared the Vince Vaughn and two other folks in the film (I can't remember their names) he isn't that well known. But the poster issue is a lame excuse. The article talked about Will Smith not being known. I have to disagree with that statement. However, that is my personal opinion; I don't have any official data saying how popular anyone is. CR is based on 4 couples so they should be shown on the poster.
