Its really a personal preference when it comes down to choosing manual or auto, Some like autos for racing and others are die hard manual racers it just all depends, I chose manual for a personal preference (silver mustang) but I've lost to autos also so it really doesn't matter in the long run after mods/bolt-ons etc
If I got a mustang should I get a auto or manual? I've had a manual accord for a few years and I'm kinda tired of the manual but if getting an auto mustang would be gay, then il get a manual. Opinions please!
@lote1234567891011 i would agree because i do have a v6 stang but v8 will always and forever rule trust there no explanantion or mod that will ever change that.
oh god im so glad i drive a 5spd. I JUST got the thing - never driven a manual before - and i LOVE to drive. I just drive to any random place just for the trip.
@turbonegro1120 Actually the manual comes with steeper gears, if you look up the ratios they aren't equal until 4th (1 to 1) give it a high stall and 4.10s and it might be equal.
Not bad. My best 1/8 mile here in Phoenix in an '82 notch 5.0 with 200 whp was 9.27 @ 76 mph, continuing on to a 1/4 of 14.45 @ 95 mph, with a crap 2.21 60 foot, stock 3.27s and a shitbox 4 spd trans with third gear being 1:1.
@gtdrummerdude Not bad at all man, Yea you can work on the 60ft lol even tho my time in this was pretty crappy i've since gotten quicker with my best being a 9.4 @ 74mph pretty much with just a CAI/ Y pipe dual exhaust on 20's with a 60ft of 2.0flat My 1/4 mile best was a 15.3 @ 90mph on same setup, i have now added 4.10 gears, T-Lok, Tuner but have yet to take it back to the track and see were im at now, But still great numbers on that Notch =)
@xXxViSiOnxXx The tuner should help a bit if you run it on the 93 octane mode and use 93 octane gas obviously lol. The gears will cut your ET down a bit but from everything I have seen and heard, they will not increase your mph at all. I have heard of people switching from 3.08 to 4.10 gears and knocking half a second off their ET but the mph didn't go up a lick. Still, gears are worth it for the ET and the fun. I'll be curious to see how it does next time you race it. Are you in California?
All V6 Models come with the Same Hp/Tq regardless of Manual transmission or Automatic, I've modified mine with Dual Exhaust/Cold Air intake/T-lok/4.10 Gears/Tuner so I have more power and traction than he does and it was his first time racing that day :)
can't believe that you're comparing auto to manual transmission..every little kid knows that you are way faster with a manual (higher rpm-range)did you ever drive a manual transmission!? because reading that a turbo on an auto car makes it faster than manual really makes me sick.and please shut up talking about dual clutch transmission and stuff like that we're talking about a mustang not a lambo.4r70W xD auto is something for girls and old men...
u truely are stuck in the 90s we can all see that ;-) manuels trans are faster then a stock auto all day long but once you tune a auto there just about the same maybe like a 2% difference and if u drive a auto you will never miss a gear....so auto tends to be more consistant....and do not tell me that a good driver never misses a gear or some shit of that nature cuz we both know thats bs ;-).....just my 2 cents
but we're still talking about two V6 mustangs not about a tuned or a race car...
sure there is not so much difference if you talk about performance cars but there are already much more efficient systems combining auto and manual...
well all i was implying that anyone planning on having a car to race is going to buy a tuner for there car so not to let the trans discourage them by thinking it would be faster or slower due to it being auto or manuel....in my opinion it boils down to ones preference
when u say professional? not really clear wat type racing your refering 2..... but here are some possible reasons to your question 1. some professional racing reqs manuels trans....2.most profesional drivers usually are in there older age or learned how to drive from there older man which probably was raised in the generations where manuel transmission was always better due to the lack of technology and less computerized cars....which then again goes back to personal preference
plus most older cars would have manuels in them but like i said i see your point....all i know is most drag cars i see....are auto for the consitant runs....tho i will not lie i see quite a bit of manuels but then again most drag cars are 70-80 muscle cars and like i said all manuel from get go.....just my thinking
you seem pretty unexpierenced to me...did you ever drove a manual car or more than 90mph!?...on drag races the thing that really matters is who has the stronger engine/car...the most important thing is torque (and again: if you can control your revolutions per minute ->rpm->manual or semi manual transmission-> you can have much better acceleration)
that's also the reason why most race car drivers use manual transmission..(better acceleration)
also most of the "OLD" muscle cars are AUTOMATIC ;)
ure grammer doesnt make since at first so not sure how to respond....but im not gonna argue about it or debate check my page in about a month and il show u what my AUTO v6 can do mate :-)
but right now it seems that you either never drove a manual car or maybe just 2-3 cars in your entire life but surely you were never able to race or drive fast (fast means more than 150mph ;)
I'm from germany so I can drive as fast as I want any day 8)
also I was able to drive more than 60 cars in my life..(all kinds of transmission)
and I'm talking about cars which are a little bit faster than your AUTO V6 ;)
lol im not sure where u get your facts bub just cause i said ud see my v6 mustang doesnt mean that my only car dumb shit and yea your from germany well good for you but guess what no one really cares yes you go 160 mph all you want but unless you plan on making a all out drag car you will not do that in 1/4 mile which is what i thought we were discussing not the fucking interstate dumbshit and you have drove 60 cars wow thats impressisve....just curious how many cars do you own big stuff
and o man btw my v6 mustang has a 72mm turbo running 16 psi + water/meth injection with a all new rebuilt motor 4.0 from super six with a 8.8 GT rear end on top of 100 shots of nitrous ....now tell me what do u drive thats a little bit faster id love to hear it...
You know just pressing the gas pedal for a 1/4 or an 1/8 mile is something a 12 year old girl could do and that's why I don't respect AUTO...Just try driving a manual car once and you will see the difference...
don't you want to tell your kids once that you were able to drive a manual car?
just believe me...It's much more fun ;)
And what is more important than FUN!?
If a computer does shifting for me I just feel unnecessary...and if my job is just pressing the gas pedal.....;(
omfg there u go again assuming facts i can drive a fucking manuel dur its a v6(my daily dricer) take a guess what my GT(drag car) is ring ring i bet even you can figure that one out....and as far as letting the computer do it for u stop living in the stoneage welcome to the future :-)
If you can answer my question "why every professional race car driver uses manual transmission then"? be it drag racing, nascar or the F1? just write me a personal note because I'm really getting sick of this discussion right now...
Until then I wish you a lot of fun searching through the whole world for the right answer...
well clearly since you think that the transmission in your car represents your sexual prefernce i think your the gay one faggot.....auto preform better then manuels in drag racing when running a turbo do your fucking research tard
yea it performs better, and means your not actually drag racing. do your research pussy, drag racing orginated with car about 80 years ago and involved using a clutch and shifting gears, making who ever had the best shifts win. thats why you suck at driving, and eat shit for living, and are a bitch. oh yea, and why your gay.
and bitch ass you prolly aint even got a car, you ride the bus BIOTCHH!
I am sorry however a porperly built auto, namely the 4r70W will outshift a manual everytime. In its stock form, it is true that a manual will win. A lot of drag racers will get a auto and build it just because of this fact.
A lot of this mentality that manuals still beat autos comes from a long history of that being true, however with todays modern technology it is no longer the case. I am sorry if this makes you butthurt.
i actually prefer autos in a drag because if you have like 4.10's on your auto and a nice little tune you can get goin pretty fast and you can never miss a shift, especially if you get like a custom 5 speed auto instead of 4 speed
if both of you guys had turbo..auto would win. manual would get auto off the line but auto would win because he doesn't have to build his boost up every time at switching gears
well mainly because it was his first time, its a buddy of mine with another v6 and wanted to run me and this was about my 2nd or 3rd time already, this is a old vid as i still ran a 10+ now im doing mid 9's and he still does 10's lol he needs a driver mod =)
LOL this is the 1/8th mile man not the 1/4 and not to forget this is some old number's on the 1/8th, my Best 1/4 mile time is 14.8 @ 92mph and My Best 1/8th Mile is 9.4 @ 73mph in a Slightly Modified V6 CAI/Dual Exhaust/Tune Putting 212rwhp 243 rwtq, My Stock Dyno #'s were 199rwhp 233 rwtq, Hopefully that clears up any confusion.
kool, well maybe i will catch ya there, i just went this past thursday although the track was not in the greatest condition my best was a 9.6 ooh well it happens =)
