nintendo was in 1985 a dumb ass to leave the external soundpins in the cartride port and only moved it to the expansion port,to plan but never release the disk system to the us,uk, duo insucces of it in japan, aaarrrggg shame.
even worse nintendo even refused konami to rellese those advanced awesome chips outside japan, now that,s fucking stupid, cuzz we us,uk,e/eu has to take enough with basterdized versions and/oor no version at all.
i just can never forgive nintendo for that painfull decission!!
I bought Lagrange Point earlier this year and man oh man I wish they released this game in America!! There are so many great things about it, not just the music! Even though the music is nut bustingly awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I end up making a show I will include Lagrange Point. Currently on the hunt for Famicom CV3..
Very nice! Although this didnt have to be external at all. You could have soldered a 100k resistor to pin 46 on the famicom side of the converter, solder the end of it to a 1 micro farad capacitor, then solder that to pin 18 on the nes side of the converter. Then, connect pin 3 and 40 on the expansion port.
It's not really fair to do a comparison test by unplugging the cable. Castevania 3 audio was reworked for the limited audio constraints of the NES and, if Lagrange Point was localized, it would have been the same. Kind of like having a band of 5 and shooting one of the musicians versus if the band had only 4 people to start and the music was written for only 4.
@ControlCardPin You are completely correct, I was just trying to show what the chip added, but when it was brought state side it was reworked with the restraints in mind. I'm glad you like the mod!
Lagrange point can't be really compared with Castevania or other games that uses similar audio systems because VCR7 was a very advance FM audio system. They'll also rework the sound effects because they use a lot of the internal sound channels for SFX and a few that was used on VCR6

@trunxkam45 Yeah, It's pretty great. It's a shame it's not more popular than it is. It really did a good job of pushing the NES.

Those VRC chips really sound MSX-ish.

Cool mod, though! I wish I had that adapter. :(
