whats vibrado modulation mean? and so with this we can make r vocals sound on same level right, so does this mean i can sing, with my flat ass singin?
When I create a v-vocal clip of my voice, it often acquires hoarseness that it didn't have prior to v-vocal processing. Is there a way to avoid this artifact?
yeah I gotta say thanks, cause there ain't nothin about any of this in the help, manual or any other documentation from Cakewalk, or at least anything I have been able to find. As frustrating as that is, I still gotta give Cakewalk a standing applause. This program has got to be the most comprehensive DAW on the market. WOW. holy crap, "tree TOPS"?? How big is that baby? It's gotta be just one "top." A single Tree Top. Come on, Cakewalk! Or I suppose V-Vocal can fix that, too...
@CakewalkSoftware yeah i have cakewalk sonar 8.0 Producer...but hey and i have a problem now,i cant use my midi keyboard,my korg edirol pcr-m30,i dont know why,i cant hear a sound ...can you help me?
@crunkkkboyzzz if you bought sonar 8 studio there should be a free upgrade to 8.5. on the box it has a website where you can upgrade for free and in the upgrade it has v-vocal.
Man,I have a problem. I correct a vocal track with v-vocal,then I import the complete song, and when I play it, the track with v-vocal don´t sound, why is it?
When i record my voice with a simple USB input microphone, it's off timing to the music. it comes in later than it's supposed to. i know that's not a huge problem but it's annoying. a larger problem i have with recording is when i try playing back my vocals, i sound like Alvin and The Chipmunks. any idea what's going on here or how to fix this? Help would be very much appreciated.
@CakewalkSoftware is there an effect taht u can add that will make it sound like someones talking in a guitar, like peter frampton kinda,u know wen u like shape ure mouth and ull just sound like Wowoahaawoaha.......ok that wasnt bright, but anyway answer my question please
@hangc10 u gotta use the snap n also drag 2 the position u like it 2 play from i dont understand y u r gettin that chip'munk voice u dont have a pitch shifter on as a plungin do u??
wow i been making music for about 3 years and i didnt even know this existed i have alot to learn any comunities?? i use reason i just got sonar i dont know if its good i heard protools is better and cubase anyone?
Definetely! Sonar is the number one software for music producers. Its so easy to use and specially Sonar Producer 8 is worth every penny. I love this software because its so easy to use. I love it!
I must admit, the idea of pitch-editing has always turned me off. However, I was excited when I found out sonar had it. It's a lot easier than re-recording a track and it sounds fine and natural as long as you don't over do it.
Every single video of any sort of vocal pitch correction is full of people saying it's shit blah blah etc.. learn 2 sing etc...
You have to realise that even the best software like melodyne or auto tune still sounds shit in comparison to a proper voice. They create artifacts and are noticable to anyone with a brain.
Sure it makes pop easy to make but who gives a shit, pop has never been about vocal ability.
Can someone tell me why Frank sinatra, ella fitzgerald , jackie wilson marvin gaye et al didnt need this technology? oh yeah just remembered those guys could sing
Mainly because it wasn't available to them. Using pitch correction technology doesn't necessarily mean that the vocalist couldn't sing. It's just a quick and economical way of fixing little mistakes, rather than re-doing the take many times (as Ella and dear Frank Sinatra did back in the age of the dinosaurs).
plus, it kinda gives the starting musician to put it in some work and make a professional sounding sound, thus giving new chances for the next Frank Sinatra-of our time to be born.
When you use technology in a way it wasn't intended that's where innovation takes place. V-Vocal isn't ALL about pitch correction or even vocals if you think outside the box a little.
if only people spent this much time not sucking at singing then this wouldn't be necessary, but these days even I could be a singer, not that I could perform it live. BUT WHO CARES, we can just lip sync I guess
If you actually try to sing better you can sound like that but thats the problem no one wants to try harder and thats why the nerds who create this software make more money than the artists themselves, go listen to Tom jones and then think whats what.

LOL like Brittany Spears!! That's what MTV did for music ...ruined it. I mean when was the last time anyone actually bought an album because the artists were good? I haven't bought an album in years and everything I have bought is over 20 years old. Music is stagnated
But what is really good about music tech today, and it;s getting better every day, is that the internet is now primed to give the little artists, peeps with real talent as well as all the goobers out there, an opportunity to reach a massive audience without the middle man who sucks you dry. No, you can't extract vocals from a song with this, the only way you could do that fully it to get the master tracks that were recorded at the studio.
Well they do make voice modulators to use live, our singer used to have a VM she used when we would practice ...If you watch when they set up for shows with peeps like Van Halen etc they use a lot of computer gear live but it's all set up well in advance of the show.
and im assuming v vocal is included in sonar 7? On another note (no pun intended) which is the least costly software with V-vocal included available for purchase, as i have a rather small budget.
hey i have a few questions....first sonar home studio 6 recording software have better quality than audacity? (im pretty sure it would but im only thirteen im not a genius...i need to learn how to set up a studio) but yeah... can you silence parts of a recording you dont want or delete parts too?...in that particular software i mentioned before?...thanks
yeah...but it was all i had when we made r first cd...everyone said the music was great but the quailty sucked...do you have any suggestions for inexpensive recording euipment?
Well, if you can hear the note that's flat, you would want to change that note. You can see the waveform at the same time that you hear the audio, when you hear a flat note, select that section of the audio and change the pitch
Video quality was a little poor due to youtube compressing everything but its still very helpful.
I got Sonar 6 Producer a while back but never got around to using and learning v-vocal. Now thanks to your video I can see how easy it is to use and can correct my vocal tracks.
I used to be a singer and loved recording myself. So many times I had a nearly perfect take that captured the right emotion but maybe one tiny bit was sharp or flat. A tool like this would be amazing to tweak a track that is already close to what you wanted to achieve.

i dont understand anythin bout this lol but i relli wish i did cuz i want it to inprove my voice (not like its bad) i dont understand - i suppose that what you get for b in a dumb blonde lol
No, V-Vocal is something that works with SONAR only. There arfe some programs that work with Cubase but they cost hundreds of dollars, it would be cheaper for you just to by a competitive crossgrade to SONAR
One annoying thing about V Vocal is, let's assume you have created your V Vocal track. Once, you have accomplished this, adding any kind of process, reverb, delay, compression, etc... becomes impossible when you go to the "Process" function.
You need to render the V-Vocal track in order to apply a process to it. You can always still patch the effect on the track in the FX bin though, which is more desirable because it is non destructive editing.
The video probably answered it but I just want to ask it to be sure: When you sing a song and can´t hit the high notes it´s possible to drag the voice up to the notes you want to hit? Did I understand it correctly? Hope you will answer.
i think every singer uses this tool now. i know david foster said he did. this would be a great tool for a singer to let them know when they r off pitch or flat. i never know when i am flat unless i am told.
doesnt sound right when the vocal is stretched but a brilliant tool for a non singer, cant help you out live though thank god, its been this way for a while now and you really dont know who can and cant sing, spice girls spring to mind
i just got my studio 6 and am trying to figure how to use it to master stuff i record on my tascam digital 8 track but i can get no responce from the makers
This would be why I like artists like Brandi Carlile. She records her songs in one sitting and doesn't "clean" them. It actually sounds "real"... Go figure.
i dont have v-vocal ? help plz

If done by a good engineer on a proper recording, pitch correction can be invisible. some are more obvious than others tho (i.e. waves tune).
but if your singer really sucks, you will hear some weird artifacts when you correct pitch. that's where comping and stacking vox can come into play

Wow thats really cool. Does it work with cubase? If not do you know of any similar software that does work with cubase
davidsafc 4 years ago
No, V-Vocal is something that works with SONAR only. There arfe some programs that work with Cubase but they cost hundreds of dollars, it would be cheaper for you just to by a competitive crossgrade to SONAR

I'm glad i have sonar 6 then =)... but to bad i don't sing much.... but still the amp simulations on it are really something.

No, it's included with SONAR Producer Edition or SONAR Power Studio

One annoying thing about V Vocal is, let's assume you have created your V Vocal track. Once, you have accomplished this, adding any kind of process, reverb, delay, compression, etc... becomes impossible when you go to the "Process" function.
romanowskistudios 4 years ago
You need to render the V-Vocal track in order to apply a process to it. You can always still patch the effect on the track in the FX bin though, which is more desirable because it is non destructive editing.

you can also texturize notes to make them sound fuller, like a note in head voice can be mechanized to sound more like it was done in chest.

CakewalkSoftware:
The video probably answered it but I just want to ask it to be sure: When you sing a song and can´t hit the high notes it´s possible to drag the voice up to the notes you want to hit? Did I understand it correctly? Hope you will answer.
HerrRuffen 4 years ago
Yes you can do this with SONAR's V-Vocal feature
CakewalkSoftware 4 years ago
Can you download a free trial of this software or do you have to buy it straight off?

i think every singer uses this tool now. i know david foster said he did. this would be a great tool for a singer to let them know when they r off pitch or flat. i never know when i am flat unless i am told.

this person sings horrible!!!
yasminerihanna 4 years ago
Well yes, that's why we chose the example. It's wouldn't be much fun to show V-VOcal on someone who sings perfectly
CakewalkSoftware 4 years ago
So to sum it all up... if you use V-Vocal, you're Satan, right? lol

E=MC2 I will use this, as soon as I finish my PhD from MIT.

i just got my studio 6 and am trying to figure how to use it to master stuff i record on my tascam digital 8 track but i can get no responce from the makers
straycat2002 4 years ago
the corrected bits sound reverby-funny, but propably in the mix one would not notice.
That's what keeps Lavigne in business!

This would be why I like artists like Brandi Carlile. She records her songs in one sitting and doesn't "clean" them. It actually sounds "real"... Go figure.
