if we have a flat tax just long enough to pass a constitutional amendment that makes income tax illegal
then create a national sales tax on non-food items it would help the poor because they pay no taxes on the obviously essential food and it would tax people based on their lifestyle rather than their income. currently the rich are SUPPOSED to pay the majority of the taxes, but they just don't. it's almost impossible to evade a sales tax unlike the income tax
Why does everyone have this Robin Hood "take from the rich and give to the poor!" Attitude about taxes? Poor people are poor because they don't know how to handle money. No one wants to be poor, no one has to be poor. poverty is a state of mind, and is built by poor spending habits, and a lack of education about finances. That is why the government is poor, because so few in government positions know how to handle money.
The rich don't pay taxes, that is why they are rich.
The rich find tax-loopholes (like Henry Kravis) and pay less % in taxes than your average Joe.
The rich are always rich. Even in Sweden were you can pay up to a 60% income-tax airplane-pilots etc can still afford a nice house, 3 nice cars, expensive vacations, and still have a lot of money in the bank.
So what's the difference? There's a larger middle-class in Sweden than in the US, and there aren't any ghettos at all in Sweden compared to the USA.
The point I am trying to make is: Racial discrimination creates the type of class gaps and social resentment you mentioned earlier. It has nothing to do with free market capitalism.
Absolutely nothing else than racial discrimination? Is that your point?
Because if you think racial discrimination has to do with all economic and social injustices, I advise you to read up on all kinds of history of homogenous settlements, and then come back to me, affirmed in your belief that all economic and social injustices stem from racial discrimination...
According to you everyone would be realestate agents and layers. Who would work at McDonald's or Goodwill for minimum wage? If no one has to be poor than there is the oppertunity for each and every person to be rich. If that had any truth to it there would be no one to make any of these(everyone) rich people their lunch. Either that or a Big Mac would cost $50 bucks. Your an idiot who has no concept of reality outside of his own.
"FAIR TAX" sounds like a better way of tricking people into a flat tax to me. He is very clearly for lowering taxes on the rich. Its a different story for the poor. No matter how much the rich get taxed thier still rich. he doesnt care about the middle or lower middle class. No matter how many lamborginis steve jobs buys it does not effect our economy. but if the poor can afford chevy cobalts it makes quite an impact. The more the poor have, the more the rich have. when will they relize this?
That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. A flat tax is a superb idea, the rich would still be paying a hell of a lot more then the poor and middle class. But nevertheless the FairTax is far superior to both progressive or flat tax systems. The government has no right to steel from us, any form of income tax is incompatible with a free society, and punishes productivity as Mr. Huckabee explained in this video.
If you had bothered to listen to what Mr Huckabee said, you would know that he does not support a flat tax [single rate income tax], but the Fair Tax plan, which would eliminate the Federal income tax and replace it with a national sales tax, and make 1040, 1099, W-2, W-4, et al, history.
plus, the IRS wouldn't be vastly huge anymore, which would save the tax payers a LOT of money, they have a bigger budget than the CIA.
and they trample your rights because you have to prove your innocent rather than them proving you're guilty. it's preposterous.

There aren't any minorities in Sweden either? Stop grouping people into classes, and see them as individuals.

Eh? There are minorities in Sweden? I don't see your point with that one either... Explain please?
I'm not grouping people into classes, I'm looking at the societys, and in the US we've got a disgraceful class segregation.
Individualism doesn't have anything to do with class politics.

About 30% of the U.S. population is non-white, and has gone through historic discrimination and oppression. The same cannot be said of Sweden.

Please read this: What does that have to do with what I wrote earlier?
Could you please explain to me the point you are trying to make?
