MrCreej, what a load of tosh. Many large handed guitarists find it an obstacle to overcome. 'speed' players practice modes to get their speed, and most modal scales are playable over a spread of 5-7frets in standard tunings. All well within range of medium sized hands.
Eric Clapton as a 'speed' guitarist? He is famed for his phrasing and being able to extract much feeling from a single note. I suggest you listen to his aptly titled SLOWHAND album. Practice delivers speed, The only benefit I c
This is some of the best playing I've ever seen from Steve. More melodic and straight ahead rock instead of the mindless razzle-dazzle that makes no sense.
He does more cool stuff in 1 minute and 57 seconds than I've done in 35 years of playing... and I know people who think I'm a good guitar player - and sometimes I even think I am too - and then I watch something like this and it all comes back to me (oh yeah) there's a few guy out there that are RIDICULOUS
@tonyniggaful That's Mike Keneally on Bass I believe I can be wrong. But Mike has played with Steve for several years in his early career an Mike plays many different instruments including Keyboard. Check out Piano Reductions, Vol. 1. by Mike Keneally its on Steve Vais list of albums on Itunes
I would say this in Westbury Long Island very close to where he grew up actually one town over. He always place there last on a North American tour. Its says NY so the only place I know that has a rotating stage is at Westbury,
@patli1973 I'm replying to my own post LOL, I had to add I missed this clip when it was taken off YouTube. An so happy its back can watch this over an over Freak Jammin out on his EVO freakin awesome

Unfortunately, guitar playing is all biological.
Hand size, hand eye coordination, hearing - everyone has different talent potentials because of this.
Most of the world's most famous "speed" guitarists all have huge hands - Vai, Satriani, Hendrix, Clapton, May etc etc
Hendrix will be playing things you literally, physically can't because of the size of his hand span
