Facebok email is not a real alternative to conventional email. Zuckerberg even pointed thios out when he said that this isn't a "Email-killer", but an enchanced messaging system (paraphrasing here). Especially based on facebooks horrible history with privacy and security faults (besides all the people who don't sign out when closing the browser at work etc.), Noone wants confidential emails compromised. And in todays email services, compatible encryption methods is crucial...
