Oh, I just remembered, I did want to say something about one of the points you brought up. I think that whether or not a teen girl should have a computer in her room should really depend on her maturity level and not just a generalization of her age group. Some girls at the age of say 14-17 are much more mature than others at the same age. Some could handle it and not do something stupid, and others couldn't. It really depends from girl to girl.
Im a young guy (15) and the amount of times i get "girls" asking me to do stuff over webcam is a complete joke. Its true what you say 9/10 times their webcam broke or fell out of the window, and then they send a picture of a freakin supermodel or something.
Lucky for me I'm not silly enough to fall for these tricks. The sad thing is that people are.

Good advice but it's truly for everyone, male or female. You don't know who you are talking to online unless they are a personal friend. There's so many tricks to video/pictures that you can be totally fooled. Danger is a major thing to keep in mind too, how many have been harmed by meeting or giving out too much information. Just use common sense, don't give out too much information or fully trust those whom you don't personally know in the "real world".

No matter how much you trust someone on the 'net with your pics and/or vids. They're going to hover it above your head to get you to do whatever they want you to do as well. It happened to a friend of mine, actually. And myself.
Being a girl isn't easy. I get a lot of creepy messages from guys and believe it or not I've also gotten some 'net "stalkers." It's not fun. Really.

I think the key to this is to properly educate your children about proper internet use. If you supervise them when they first start using the internet I think your girls or even boys are going to be much safer in chat rooms ect.

As long as you teach your kid to be safe I don't think it is bad having a computer in their room. There are lots of perverts online but there are some decent people too. Hopefully people will learn to be safe about what they do, and who they talk to.

I know away around this, tell them to take a picture of themselves doing something you tell them to do, for example on finger in their ear and the other hand on their head and also have them write your username on their arm or something, if they wont do it, they're almost definately a pedo

Just to note, I'm a sixteen year old female, WITH a web cam, and a computer in my room.
However, I don't even make You Tube videos of myself. Why? Because I'm safe.
It really comes down to comon sence now a days. My generation has grown up with computers, and its obvious to at least myself and my friends what the hell can happen. Teach your child in the same fashion my parents have and you'll be fine.

Agreed 100% I've talked to people, and met people on the internet, who say the exact same thing. "Oh, my cam broke" or " It doesnt work" like get a grip people. THOUGH, when I have had video convos with people and stuff, 10/10% or the time, they are who they say they are. Even with pictures, they have a pic up for a while, then somehow get ahold of a camera of somesort, with me, they are who they say they are. But you make a very good point!

I totally respect what you have to say, and I totally agree with all of this. It is all about education and knowing not to give out any sort of information about yourself, and to be careful online. I'm an adult, and I still follow basic rules.

If they want a real guy they need to look to guys who talk like this. Digital how about talking on the subject about how the ladies dress, and how if they get a remark made to them, it is the guys fault. That is some that needs to be addresses from a guy also.
