She said she couldn't sing anywhere for years because she was in a really bad contract. I know it wasn't because she had a bad gospel career. I think that's all together different.
I wish Tarralyn just told Christina from the beginning that she wasn't comfortable singing that particular song. The words of this song are not something no church girl is comfortable with.
She could sing rings around Frenchie in my opinion... I know what this girl can do with her voice and this is definitely her worst performance, and here..she didn't even do THAT bad, so this being her "worst performance" must speak volumes.
You know what I never like Frenchie but she won me over with this performance and her the fact the she was graceful. Tarralyn was a bit OTT for me and I am glad she didn't go through. That besides her attitude was off.

But, Terralyn came up in the church...and in the church, if you are moved by the spirit, no one tells you how to sing. "Hey...I know you got the Lord in you, but could you maybe tone it down a little?" That doesn't happen. If you search "Tarralyn Ramsey nextmanmuzik", you will hear what I mean. I think they are both amazing, and wish them both success.
Christina seemed to pick the worse songs for her people. I don't think any of them complimented them. Ceelo was pretty awesome at getting songs that demonstrated his singers talents.
Tarralyn tried to show off her skill and voice and it was just too much in a duet. In a duet you're supposed to compliment each other's voice. It was pretty clear that Christina liked Frenchie better.
Tarralyn had the better voice. But Frenchie out performed her point blank. Then also, you have to remember, Frenchie has a VERY strong voice and she has to control it. So she often pulls back so she wont be to be overpowering. But I think Tarralyn represented Jacksonville well. Duuvvallll. :)

personally I think Tarralyn did better just plain and simply because she has a better voice then Frenchie. Frenchie had like 0 range and only sang 1 note which is extremely mundane, and Tarralyn tried too hard but you can't mistake the fact that Tarralyn has a stronger voice then Frenchie.

I think many fail to realize what having "control" really is Tarralyn has control. Actually very good control... Now her killer was restraining herself. And I will agree jumping to a higher octave was not a good idea in her part it was clean and did sound a bit off.
@vipanther46 control means that you can ensure the note/sound that came out of your mouth when you opened it was the note/sound that came to your head when you thought of it. If terralyn meant to hit that note, then yes- she has control, just poor ability to sing within a key. not to mention it sounded like she had a lump in her throat for many of the parts she "belted"... just being honest. i wanted her to win this round.
I mean, it WAS a battle. I think Tarralyn would have definitely won the battle if she didn't TOTALLY over-do it, because she does have the better overall voice. Frenchie's smart enough to not up-stage someone like that though.

I enjoyed both of their performances. They are both GREAT singers. Frenchie was better however because she showed restraint and control with her voice on a song that doesn't require much vocal theatrics. Tarralyn tried to do to much to impress and did herself in. Frenchie relfexed her vocal muscle for the only time in the song when she held that blended note with Tarralyn and held it for longer than her.. it could have been almost 10secs while Tarralyn was for like 6secs.
In this song, Tarralyn did too much high belts, but seriously i've seen her videos on Youtube and she is a wayyy better singer than Frenchie, everybody is talking about Tarralyn as the only girl that sound like Whitney Houston, same big tone, same cloudy head voice and such a perfect vibrato. In a ballad Tarralyn would have murdured frenchie, by far!!!

They are both great singers. But like everyone has said, Tarralyn killed herself with trying to do too much. She lost the competition at :27 seconds, and then at 1:35, I was so terribly upset with all that screaming!! I love powerhouse voices, JHud, Christina, Whitney, Patti, etc. But even I was soooo over Tarralyn after that moment. LOL!!

Dynamic singers do well when they can stretch out. They're at their best on ballads. So perhaps she was doomed from the outset...
The battle song should have been "You're Gonna Love Me" by Jennifer Hudson. You don't have two powerhouse vocalists sing a song like "Single Ladies". Frenchie deserved to win because she showed a lot of restraint because she could have been just like Tarralyn and tried to blast her way through the song, however she didn't try to do all of the runs and belt everything when she very well could have.
@YourMajesty91 "And I'm Am Telling You" plays too much into Tarralyn's hands, but I agree with this... This was almost like rigging the competition. "Single Ladies" requires a minimal vocal. They should've found something in the middle. Something like Fantasia's "Bittersweet".
@MicJones "Bittersweet" would have been a nice song for them! Frenchie actually does have a bigger voice then she let's on though. "And I'm Telling You" is what she sung for American Idol and she made it to the Hollywood auditions. I do agree with you though that it would have given Tarrlyn an advantage because that song requires a singer with strong chest register which Tarralyn has. Frenchie has a better head voice which is why her vocals was better suited for Single Ladies. :)

I feel like Tarralyn was trying to duplicate her audition, but it didn't work out for this song. Also, I think she was trying to show her range and prove her voice could do more, but ended up over doing it and was off at times. I didn't like what she did at 0:27. I'm not sure if she was too cocky on this song cause she seemed to try to duplicate Beyonce, but it was a bit much...perhaps cause it was a duet. idk. Still, she's a great talent and hopefully she'll have a future in the music business.

@lmartinez77 There is a difference in trying hard and trying to hard. She did the latter. A song is to be preformed in a flow both the instrumental and vocal part. What Tarralyn did was force it wich actualy made the song hard and uncomfortable to listen too. I agree that Tarralyn is the better singer in vocal ability but she just doesnt understand how to create that flow. And the flow is just as important as vocal ability.

I love both these vocalists. They're both talented. Frenchie's voice is lighter but powerful! Tarralyn's voice has more depth. I personally wish that Tarralyn wouldn't have flopped so hard...*tear. I love her intricacy, but it's true that she did overdo it. Her pride got in the way of her success (a life lesson hopefully learned). Hated the stank face at 1:12 ...true colors were shown. Shame!!

I think many fail to realize what having "control" really is Tarralyn has control. Actually very good control... Now her killer was restraining herself. And I will agree jumping to a higher octave was not a good idea in her part it was clean and did sound a bit off.

@vipanther46 control means that you can ensure the note/sound that came out of your mouth when you opened it was the note/sound that came to your head when you thought of it. If terralyn meant to hit that note, then yes- she has control, just poor ability to sing within a key. not to mention it sounded like she had a lump in her throat for many of the parts she "belted"... just being honest. i wanted her to win this round.

I enjoyed both of their performances. They are both GREAT singers. Frenchie was better however because she showed restraint and control with her voice on a song that doesn't require much vocal theatrics. Tarralyn tried to do to much to impress and did herself in. Frenchie relfexed her vocal muscle for the only time in the song when she held that blended note with Tarralyn and held it for longer than her.. it could have been almost 10secs while Tarralyn was for like 6secs.

In this song, Tarralyn did too much high belts, but seriously i've seen her videos on Youtube and she is a wayyy better singer than Frenchie, everybody is talking about Tarralyn as the only girl that sound like Whitney Houston, same big tone, same cloudy head voice and such a perfect vibrato. In a ballad Tarralyn would have murdured frenchie, by far!!!

The only high belting she did that I think was NOT what she was supposed to do is at 0:27-0:32. Christina looked like.."that's not what you were supposed to do". And you are SOOOO right about if it was a Ballad, Tarralyn would have murdered frenchie, by far! I really wish Tarralyn won this thing. Frenchie don't do it for me...like..AT ALL.

They are both great singers. But like everyone has said, Tarralyn killed herself with trying to do too much. She lost the competition at :27 seconds, and then at 1:35, I was so terribly upset with all that screaming!! I love powerhouse voices, JHud, Christina, Whitney, Patti, etc. But even I was soooo over Tarralyn after that moment. LOL!!

@soul2178 I hadn't been following The Voice, but I'd decided it was Tarralyn's to lose. Looks as though that's EXACTLY what she did. I can't believe she delivered such a bad performance. Tarralyn would MURDER her in a battle over a ballad, but I suppose you have to be well-rounded. "Single Ladies" played better into Frenchie's hands than it did Tarralyn's. Tarralyn needs room to stretch out vocally. Frenchie doesn't. It was over before it started.

Her tone and pitch was better. it was when she tried too hard, she lost it. During the practice, she said she wouldnt let Frenchie know her tricks, but damn, she completely ruined the performance. Hope to hear her again, somewhere, someday. Who do you have picked to win? I dont think Frenchie will win. I'm a Frenchie fan, but Javier colon is the best remaining singer.

Dynamic singers do well when they can stretch out. They're at their best on ballads. So perhaps she was doomed from the outset...

The battle song should have been "You're Gonna Love Me" by Jennifer Hudson. You don't have two powerhouse vocalists sing a song like "Single Ladies". Frenchie deserved to win because she showed a lot of restraint because she could have been just like Tarralyn and tried to blast her way through the song, however she didn't try to do all of the runs and belt everything when she very well could have.

@MicJones "Bittersweet" would have been a nice song for them! Frenchie actually does have a bigger voice then she let's on though. "And I'm Telling You" is what she sung for American Idol and she made it to the Hollywood auditions. I do agree with you though that it would have given Tarrlyn an advantage because that song requires a singer with strong chest register which Tarralyn has. Frenchie has a better head voice which is why her vocals was better suited for Single Ladies. :)

I feel like Tarralyn was trying to duplicate her audition, but it didn't work out for this song. Also, I think she was trying to show her range and prove her voice could do more, but ended up over doing it and was off at times. I didn't like what she did at 0:27. I'm not sure if she was too cocky on this song cause she seemed to try to duplicate Beyonce, but it was a bit much...perhaps cause it was a duet. idk. Still, she's a great talent and hopefully she'll have a future in the music business.

@lmartinez77 There is a difference in trying hard and trying to hard. She did the latter. A song is to be preformed in a flow both the instrumental and vocal part. What Tarralyn did was force it wich actualy made the song hard and uncomfortable to listen too. I agree that Tarralyn is the better singer in vocal ability but she just doesnt understand how to create that flow. And the flow is just as important as vocal ability.

I love both these vocalists. They're both talented. Frenchie's voice is lighter but powerful! Tarralyn's voice has more depth. I personally wish that Tarralyn wouldn't have flopped so hard...*tear. I love her intricacy, but it's true that she did overdo it. Her pride got in the way of her success (a life lesson hopefully learned). Hated the stank face at 1:12 ...true colors were shown. Shame!!
