Amazing setup!!!! Love your video Thank you!! Those vegies look great! What do you feed your fish? Im a pioneer with an open source sustainable community project called OneCommunityRanch (a .org) and we are getting ready to set up an organic farm using Aquaponics and are hoping to find some members educated in this type of system. Thank You for the video!!
Cost as I originally built it was around $10,000 plus . I have since added / improved and continue to do more work...you know work in progress. You can save a lot if you can do most of the assembly & building yourself and have the appropriate tools. I had a lot of "learning expenses" which would not, hopefully occur when I rebuild other such systems.
Start small...use recycled materials or surplus materials (do not compromise on the liner/ air pumps/ growing materials/ hygiene:-)
We share some with friends & family, give some to the less fortunate and non-profit organizations, sell a few and if there are any spare, the Tilapia & Koi love them as a treat. If you are around, you are welcome to share your honest labor with us...in return we promise you therapy for your body & mind and some plants for your you to enjoy :-)
I think your work is outstanding. Just a little tip when filming keep your camera right side up or in other words don't turn it on the side. We as a audience loose our bearings. But your set up is very impressive. I know this is kind of late but hope to see more videos for you.
Hello! Great video! Awesome setup. Where in Florida is your farm located and do you ever do tours? I live in North Florida and I am just now setting up my first aquaponics system and I have much to learn.
You are missing Iron. The New Alchemy institute used rabbit feed for tilapia as a way to put iron in the system instead of chelated Iron. I had a small system in the Dominican Republi and I used Fabaxea leaves as tilapia food and it seemed to do well.
I have been in love with aquaponics for the last four or five years, while I studyed and conducted small test systems in my apartment we have recientaly been blessed with a home with a large back yard. In my opnion, next to the "grow power guy" back east, your post is the best use of space and as soon as I find the funding most of my 30x50 ft space.........well I hope we can come close to something similar...BEST WISHES
The tower you havent named is like a tree that growes and gives life (the tree of life).

We feed our fish some pellet commercial fish food (Aquamax), and supplement that with the leafy vegetables from our Aquaponics system.

About 200 Koi fingerlings (2 to 4 inches) in 800 gallon tank, 100 small Tilapia in a 250 gal tank and 100 small Catfish in another 250 gal tank :-)
Will remove to other tanks when they get bigger
