Yes it has a good dof due to a larger sensor than most consumer cameras but no it does not give a 'film look' which the d300s and 7d and 5dmkII can. Film look is about more than interchangeable lenses and dof. This is because its not intended for a professional or even prosumer market. this is a consumer camera and people shouldn't expect pro results from it. This video echos that but i still think its a good result from a consumer camera.
@StrobetrixFilms what makes you think canon 7d is better, well in reality its not, larger cmos sensor is better as its exposed to more light. don't consider the upper video because its poorly filmed. plus w/wrong aperture settings.
@SunnyShawFilms i couldn't care less about statistics. The only way to evaluate which is better is through hands on experience. Spend less time on blogs and more time in the field mate : ).
this was really beautiful. Not only in quality of the video and your wonderful job post correcting it, but the wonderful back story that had so much depth and meaning. This is inspiring to the point it can help me with finishing the script for a film I'm working on.

This is pretty damn good but if I was your I'd work on my shot composition and play around with editing more. Loved the DOF shots though!
