Ah, but you simply cannot compare 8 cores of that CPU with even 1 core of PC CPU, dude. It's like saying a quad core of 2.4 GHz is better than the latest dual-core, which would be, what, 3.4 I think. I'd find the PS3 CPU around a normal-to-high end dual-core CPU.
it may look better but I prefer playing games on a console. there is less computability and frame-rate issues and you know what it will look like on your unit. not to mention it is cheaper and more streamlined.
I game a lot on my PC but for modern titles I use consoles
I have played on almost every console on Earth (except GameCube, I missed that one). They are all splendid in their own way (with the X360 and the Wii... kinda with the PS's, you get a strange feeling like you're watching your own little TV show).
BUT, the PC is the only one that can actually MAKE the other consoles (mostly the programming capabilities) AND is always and in every way upgradeable (20 FPS on my old CPU... over 60 on a Q6600).
Oh, no doubt that games look better on PC but the versatility comes with needless complication. When you put a game into a console you don't have to tweak the graphics to have it look as good as possible on a stable framerate.
For me I just find it easier as I put in the disk and play. PC gamers are rewarded for their efforts with better graphics but upgrading and all that is too expensive and convoluted for me.
each to his own though, I dont want flame wars either :)
Dude, I'm not dissing any console. As I said, I have played on almost every console at least one time. They truly are some piece of hardware.
On the other side, I like the PC more, because I can make my own games at any time I want, edit them, do animations, practically do another console. So 'PC's are "workstations", whereas consoles are for entertainment only. Truth being said, though, I wouldn't exactly enjoy having another box in the house eating up money.
OK, so I had the 8800 GTS 320 video card, OK? Got about 20 FPS with everything ULTRA, highest settings everywhere, 1440x900 AA 2x. - with the Intel Pentium IV 630 (3.01 GHz, 1 core)
When I jammed the Intel Core2(TM)Quad Q6600 (2.4 GHz, 4 cores), bloody amazing me (after buying another mobo and some higher-freq RAM) I get 60 FPS with everything ULTRA, I just had to lower the resolution a tad to get 60 FPS EVERYWHERE.
Nice Cornercutting ...

I have 6 people I have competed against in GRID call me a cheater because I don't spin out on the grass.
On the other hand, that's because I don't push the pedal to the *mental* when on grass or pebbles.

"This is on PC (you see, the PC IS by far superior to game consoles, mainly because once you upgrade some parts, STUFF GOES BETTER!!!)."

you had a 40fps increase on GRID by upgrading your cpu or just in genreal?
fathead894 3 years ago
I didn't believe it myself, dude.

Getting a better CPU, does affect it...

what ive never got about quad cores is it 4 2.4ghz cores or 2.4ghz total?
fathead894 3 years ago
Good question, dude. Pretty simple, so most guys would rather shut up than ask it.
2.4 GHz each core. (who would be an idiot to pay more money on a 2.4 GHz if he has a 3 GHz CPU, right?)
But yeah, I hated multi-core stuff at the beginning. (very unstable the first year... I've seen it)
