@theblaad These are Silver asian carp in the Illinois river. The boat motor gets the fish stirred up and they jump., I wish they would let me use a shotgun.

1. I shoot ducks, and dove (both of which are smaller than these fish) with a shotgun, and they are not at all mangled, nor are they blown up, and are comletely edible.(tasty too!)

No, The silver asian carp is an invasive species that is currently being fished heavily , commerially for protein. Only a fishing liscence is required to bowfish them.

We were on the Illinois River near Pekin. Don't get caught with a firearm on the river. Bad news, getting caught sooting a rifle over the water. The fish arrows work very well. I have been tempted on many occasions to take after them with a 12 ga., but I don't think that it would be well received by the local authorities.
