@girlfins No you didn't do anything wrong. Google calls it a "coat of digital paint", though I have another name for it. You have no option to make it transparent and that's why you can't see your background.

I pray to the great YouTube. Please, Stop The New You Tube Design! Save the creativity and diversity. The old design was like a paradise. Many wonderful channels disappear. Colorful, beautiful pages are fun to visit. Creating backgrounds, which is visible is wonderful. With the new design, creativity disappears. Our paradise turned into a desert. Some think that a desert is beautiful. But it's easy to get lost when there is only sand around it. Please do not kill our creativity!
