Thank you so much for posting this video. I haven't heard an F-27 takeoff since the early 90s when American discontinued their service at the Lancaster Airport, along with the Shorts 330s & 360s they used to operate.

Great sound. I used to fly in F27s in Australia as a boy. Can anyone explain why the engines 'yeoowll' in that distinctive way at times when the aircraft is taxying and turning?

Because the propeller blades change pitch when the engine power is adjusted. You hear the sound when the power is being reduced and the pitch of the propeller blades fines off.

Thanks for that. I gues its is also the size, length and shape of the Dart blades - because I've never heard that distinctive 'yeowll' response to reduced power in other turbopropos, especially more modern ones. Or perhaps its there but just quieter on them.
