My feelings on Syd (I know people have been pontificating on him for eons) is that his retreat from the world was conscious - he was tired of all the demands made on him as the only songwriter in a popular band, tired of the showbiz bullshit, and probably felt increasingly isolated from his relatively straight bandmates. Add to that his significant usage of LSD and the rest of creation not understanding him or his art & you've got a guy going, "Fuck this - I don't need this bullshit."
everyone trys to blame the lsd? lol. ive dropped tons in my life and im fine. in fact it helped me figure shit out. it took a few years to dig thru but i got it. and the answer is fuck it lol.
@zoinxoner I DON'T blame the LSD completely - it just amplified what was already there. I feel it sped up my evolution. But you take it daily for weeks/months, and next thing you know, you can't function in "normal" society.
Well, without the 'guy at the table' we would never have seen these movies. So be gentle to him, it's not his fault either. he was just hired to play a silly part.
whats up with the uninspired lad at the writing desk? going to drop something?

That's interesting..had to check it out because of a recent Mojo article about Barrett and this exotic little creature.
To be politically correct ,we shall call her Iggy the Inuit from now on.
Just like Yoko I don't think she was that hot ,but then...anything exotic and out of the norm was welcome in those days.
