What's up is that: the RCC is the Church that Christ founded. It's Christ's Church and our Church, and the Dogma of the Assumption is what Christ's Church has deamed to be worthy of belief. Google the "Dogma of the Assumption".
I would like to find out why it is that religions in general put such credence in themselves as "absolute truth"; when they are filled with so much unbelievable, and many (not all) stories that are obvious fable; please, please, please tell?
Jesus said He was the Truth. If I say anything against what Jesus or the Holy Roman Catholic Church taught, please disreguard it. As for those who speak fables, ask them.
You ask where in scripture does is say Mary and Joseph had intercourse? First of all, they were married ....right? Married folk are supposed to have sex... right? Unmarried are not to have sex....right? Well...they had sex and had additional children. Mat 1:25 says "Joseph did not have sex with his wife till she had given birth to her FIRSTBORN SON JESUS. Luke 2:7 Firstborn son. Mat 13:55 he had 4 brothers James, Joses, Simon and Judas plus 2 sisters vs 56; how did the get here?
(1) The expression, brethren of the Lord, is no argument whatever that Mary had other children besides Jesus. The Jews used that expression of any near relatives, without intending the first degree of blood relationship. It was enough for the people to be descendants of the same tribe to be called brethren. James was called the brother of Jesus. Yet we know that he was the son of Alphaeus, and Mary was never the wife of Alphaeus. This James, also, was the blood brother of Jude...
And Jude begins his epistle with the words, Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and the brother of James. Here he is using the word brother in the strict sense, and knows that he cannot in that sense call himself the brother of Jesus Christ. Yet in the broad sense of the word he is ranked amongst the kinsmen of Christ, as we know from Matthew 13: 55, where the Gospel speaks of His brethren James and Joseph, and Simon and Jude.
What true bible of any translation speaks of "The Assumption of Mary"? What bible told you "father" that you couldn't or shouldn't have a wife? What bible speaks of what you catholics call "Pergatory".? Answer? NONE. Mary was a virgin up to and after the birth of Jesus. Afterwards she married Joseph had married intercourse and had another 3 or 4 children besides Jesus. Acts 1:9. Nowhere does the bible say Mary prays for anybody, Only Jesus is our mediator who prays for us. 1Timothy 2:5
Humm you tell me where in scripture it says that Mary and Joseph had intercourse? Please read Isaiah 7:14. Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son
Marys assumption into heaven is not in scripture, but is guaranteed by tradition and the teaching authority of the Church that Christ founded, the Catholic Church. That scripture omits the assumption and the Trinity is no argument against it. There is nothing in the doctrine of the assumption that goes against scripture. I'm no priest.
GOD is perfect. Heaven has to be a perfect place, and nothing imperfect can enter (Revelation 21:27). GOD will not join Himself to anything defiled. If a person dies with sins not sufficient for hell (the sin unto death, 1John 5:16-17), and has lesser sins to prevent entry into Heaven, then there has to be a third place in which to atone for them. This would be a temporary place, as stated in Matthew 5:25-26, "You shall not come out until you have paid the last penny".
@Oblationem: You have taken Matthew 5:25-26 totally out of context, it starts in Matthew 5:21. It speaks of being agry with someone and coming to God without having resolved your conflict with your brother. We are to resolve conflict before it leads to bigger problems including prison. If the scripture you gave refers to hell then that would mean we would have to agree with Satan (our adversary) which we are to never do. So Matthew 5:26 is not talking about hell.
This sermon is full of exageration. Exalt Christ! Wedding at Canaa? Jesus resonded "Woman, it is not my time." Mary IS blessed. But Christ is God. Mary was created thru Christ, not the other way around. (Jhn 1)
What's the problem, we Catholics know that God created everything. But this is Mary's great Feast Day, this is the day we honor Mary. Mary always points to God, Mary saying, "My soul doth magnify the Lord." and it was God who pointed to Mary, calling Mary, "Full of Grace" (angels are messengers). So, It was God who first venerated Mary. Luke 1:28. There is no exaggeration here, just a great love for our Mom...
There is Actual Grace and Sanctifying Grace, and many sub-divisions. Speaking about Mary - Mary was full of grace from the first moment of her existence when she was immaculately conceived. God the Father made a gathering of all the waters and called it the sea; he made a gathering of all graces and called it Mary. Jesus came to us through Mary, and Mary, full of grace, can help us on our way to Jesus. Go to the New Advent web site for a fuller explanation of Grace.
there is not a scintilla of evidence for Marys being assumpted. whats up with rcc?
