The novel Spiral Scratch lead into this scene very well and gave old sixsy a much better send off. Side note I reckon it would have sounded better if Pip and Jane had written the Rani saying "Leave the human it's the time Lord I want."
i really like it. but i think the hands should be glowing a little just before he is turned over. also, another idea; when the tardis hits the floor, if it slowly tipped to one side in the same way tall objects do when they NEARLY fall over onto their sides and then rocked back onto its base? just a suggestion :D
Is there an option to watch it this way on the DVD? Or is it just an Easter egg you have to find on the DVD? It’s a shame Colin never got a proper regeneration scene. It's now well known to fans why that was. They should start the Story with these new effects without even an option in my opinion. It goes a little way to fixing the previously poor regeneration scene.
@jnev77 It would be a nice touch if they took a few scenes of him at his console from a previous episode like in the Doctor Who: Time and the Rani - The Sixth Doctor's Regeneration (the Colin Baker edit) by solidbronze (which is also very good) to show how he was hurt from the blast. Also they could make the noise from the laser blast a little more dramatic. The original sound of the blasts sound like a spectrum computer game.
Colin baker was sacked in 1986 because the BBC thought that the low ratings was his fault but a few weeks after he left the BBC said that Colin could come back to do the regeneration sequence. But Colin had some sence and declined and that's why it's sylvester McCoy in the wig.
@owendude12383 Actually the reason why Colin Baker was really fired was because of a vindictive BBC exec who was the head of programming and had a personal beef with Baker. He essentially held a gun to John Nathan Turner' s head and threatened to cancel Doctor Who unless Colin Baker was replaced.
Colin is a fantastic actor who gave life to the show when the BBC was giving up on it. Trial of a time lord was an amazing achievement of the long running series, and his entrance was rather awesome too in Caves of Androzani.
it is actually a fact (i think) that the reason for the swirl was because sylvester mccoy in a wig played colin in the regen if anyone wondered, thats why his face is barely shown so the differance is less visable. it was actually him with and without the wig in the regeneration
I think it was absolutely bloody disgusting how Colin Baker, was ousted from the role of Dr Who after two and a half years. Colin said he would have ideally like to stay in the role for at least, seven years like Tom or even stay longer than Tom. I would ideally have like Colin to stay for ten years or even longer if that had happened the way Colin would have liked things to happen. Colin could have been the longest running Doctor in the show's history which would have been excellent in all ways
@rojblake82 Jolly right too! And although he didn't do that many stories (which are all terrific) he still lives on through Big Finish, where he is rather awesome :D x
@rojblake82 Michael Grade- Absoloutely deluded bastard for getting rid of Colin- he's even up his ass about himself right now about shows like Doctor Who on tv. I'd like to see him try and play the fantastic Doctor Colin Potrayed- I'd like to see how he would feel if his imaginary Boss just punched his lights out and told him he was fired... The firing of Colin Baker- The Axing of Doctor Who - will always be on his hands like blood- bloody embarassing human being...
@RegenerationStorm I also thought Colin was bloody ace, as Bayban in Blake's Seven in the episode city at the edge of the world and I also personally think in billions of ways Colin should have been cast as Blake in Blake's Seven instead of Gareth Thomas who had no staying power at all. Did you ever see Blake's Seven and wta did you think, of that series please?.I also would say Colin as Blake, would have meant Blake would have stayed in B7 longer and B7 might have run longer.
@rojblake82 i know and its stupid how they would not let him do the regeneration scene himself. Instead they put sylvester mccoy in a colin baker wig.
@CoolCartoonsGuy I totally agree, and I also think Colin Baker was ace in Blake's Seven as Bayban in the episode city at the edge of the world and in my view Colin should have been cast as Blake in B7 instead of Gareth Thomas who buzzed off after two seasons and let his fans down which was disappointing and shocking. Whta is your opinion, if anything that I think Colin Baker should have played Blake instead of Gareth Thomas and Colin had he played Blake would have stuck around?
@rojblake82 Well, it's a good thing that we have the Big Finish Audio Adventures, allowing Colin to continue the role of the Sixth Doctor. Last I checked, he is now traveling with a new companion.
Excellent. I thought the easter egg on the TATR DVD was very well done. Great to see the full version, with new FX showing the TARDIS travelling in the vortex.
@Trayusstudent1 Yeah he looks completely dead. I still think wheather it's the original, this version or Solidbronze's 'Colin Baker edit' - it has a unnerving feeling about...... like even the Doctor didn't see it coming?
My one year old absolutely loves this! And so do I!

This is brilliant. Seriously, this should be in a DVD special edition of Time and the Rani, it's that incredible. It's simple, yet it's effective.

My favorite doctor last words are "It's far from being all over," "It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for," and... "Carrot Juice."
FishWRabies 6 months ago
Haven't seen a lot of the Sixth doctor, but the bits and scraps I have seen from him he's pompous, arrogant and childish...
I'm probably wrong though. But I really really like Sylvester McCoy's Seventh.

Why would you want the worst doctor to be in for ten years rather than 2? David tennant and the other baker?
Like him if you want but he really frigid sucked

For the edited regeneration Sylvester Macoy was both doctors cause Colin was out of doctor who
