Are they staying in that area? Did the government buy out all the homes left standing in that area? Like if your parents house didn't get destroyed then would they have to move cause the area is becoming toxic?
If you are referring to the "Life After People" from last night, it was a bit misleading.
The town had been slowly dwindling in population. There was a government buyout of houses in the town that was moving along very slowly. The area shown in the show was about a three block area that has really been abandoned for at least 20 years. Outside of that main street area (which really isn't the main street of the town anymore), there was a decent amount of population up until this tornado event.
All the other houses have been removed and cleaned up now. This house, my parents' house, is still standing but is a huge moldy mess. It is being disassembled bit by bit.
yes we lived in a trailer court called douthat trailor court we saw it form and the loud winds as it riped through before it hit Picher Ok we lived out of picher on road E.40th yes it was a very bad day for picher we lived right on the other side of the chat pile going toward coomerce ok i guess we will never forget the tradity that happened that calm nice day in picher
great footage but a sad day i am a firefighter from racine and i was on stateline road and was caught by the tornado as it crossed stateline , hope everybodys is ok

We all came out OK. We rode it out in the neighbor's underground storm shelter. My parent are in Joplin now.
