Pretty lucky catch! Actually looked like a decent landing, all things considered! I used to live in Conneaut, OH, and been to this show. Not to argue, but I always thought that the show in Osh Kosh, WI was the biggest... good footage though!

Uh, Have you ever heard of or been to Sun n' Fun or Oshkosh? My guess is NO!!.....because if you had, you wouldn't make such stupid comments. the guy filming this makes it seem like he has captured the first man on the moon footage. Filmed at some crappy small town air show my girlfriend would have dragged me to. I can taste the cheep white wine and pepperjack cheese cubes to go along with the crappy white man jazz in the background.

You can tell by the way the pilot eased his aircraft down in the correct attitude for this type of landing gear malfunction that he was well aware of this problem. Also he has indicators in the cockpit that also give the configuration of his landing gear as well. What is questionable however is the relatively slow response of the crash crews. Seems too long for me.

Inside all modern-day aircraft, each landing gear has a red/green light to show that the gear is down and locked. Chances are he knew the gear wasn't down in the rear and had no way to manually drop it down. Only choice was to belly it and hope it didn't catch fire. Nice landing though.

I agree that the pilot did an excellent job putting it down (esp minus the mains w/ only the nose wheel down) It could have been a disaster. I am guessing that this particular A/P did not have hydraulic gear, thus not having the ability to "hand-pump" the gear down manually. Typically aircraft that have hydraulic landing gear have a bypass hand pump if the hydraulic pump fails. Kudos on the video and congrats to the great aviating!

@rosswilldoit you're wrong. Aircraft with hydraulic landing gear don't typically have hand pumps. Find me the hand pump on today's jet aircraft.

"I'm wrong?"... I said typically and thats because I have seen MANY on smaller prop aA/Ps, Turbo props ("Cessna 310 "Ring a bell?")... Look at our military's aircraft. Ive seen several Cessna Citation II private commercial jets with emergency hydraulic (Hand pump-down) mods in them. Maybe you should research more before you say someones wrong... Cheers

He new his landing gear would not come down. He did 2 passes and had the Canadian Hornet have a look at his gear. Pilots know when the gear is not down and locked...he landed it really well.

He knew the landing gear was screwed up. The fire trucks were on standby because of a mayday call. If you land on an empty tank, you risk explosion.

A wonderful aircraft. It is of Polish construction, so no wonder that nobody was hurt. The aircraft can land safely even without the alighting gear, unlike American junks.
