Here's what my dad told me: Eat a ton of berries! It works! Just go get a raspberry smoothie or sumthin'. And lots of water! And exercise. Walk it out.
Def. drink tons of water, and you can try this too -
My Gastroentorologist (sp?) put me on something called Align. You can get it at most drug stores. A month supply runs you about $30, but there are coupons sometimes in the Sunday papers (here, anyway).
1 not more! 1 exlax at an hour before bed. when you wake up the issue will start to "work itself out". You might even want to cut it in half because for me, one does the job quite thoughroughly... (spelling fail?)
I have very sensitive and f'ed up digestion though.... it just doesnt work very well.
Fiber vitamins! Get them at ur local vitamin shop if u have anymore problems!! My digestive problem was massive I was sick for about two months and lost about thirty lbs during that time but it was HELL. I had to do a digestive cleanse. But damn those vitamins help!
wow u actually look like u have lost weight, looking great! it is def noticable so even if the lbs arent coming off, there is def a diff in appearance.
8 oz. of water, 1 tbsp of sea salt, 2 tbsp of lemon juice and 1/2 TEASPOON of cayenne pepper. tastes awful but works. its a detoxing recipe but it helps to cleanse out your digestive system really well.
also activia yogurt is really good too if you want something that tastes good.
Epsom salt- Put 2-3 scoops in an 8 oz cup and you'll be in the shitter in like 4 hours.
And another thing that I think helps with good bowel movement is grapefruit juice. Not in like a carton. FRESH GRAPEFRUIT JUICE. You gotta juice that sucker yourself. Just squeeze one big ass grapefruit and drink it.
My grandma didn't poop for two weeks once and drank some mineral oil to "loosen" things up. It was only like two tablespoons or something, but she broke her toilet once the mineral oil did its thing.
If you don't want to take a laxative pill (or 2), which shouldn't be a constant go-to anyway, I definitely suggest Miralax as well.
It's made just for women and it's better than Metamucil. It comes in a white container with a purple cap. Just look in the aisle w/laxatives and fiber stuff at Walmart, Target, etc.
I have been there, and honestly the best thing for me has been eating LOTS of vegetables, especially spinach. Fresh baby spinach has been my savior. Also, I suggest eating higher fiber grains, avoid white, bleached, processed grains and stick to whole grains.
Well besides increasing fiber, I just want to say make sure you increase it gradually because if you eat too much fiber or you increase your intake drastically it will make things worse..
Oh God. Someone else already said this, but FIber One definitely gets the job done when it comes to digestion. They have delicious bars and yogurts and they work REALLY FAST. Dangerously fast (for me).
Fruits and vegetables are great (for me at least) b/c it's almost impossible for me to binge on them.
the answer is Benefiber, Justine.Lol . If you get the powder version, 2 spoonfuls in ANYTHING (oatmeal, water, yogurt etc.) At BigLots they sell a pack with pills and powder for like really cheap.
hate when that happens. i hate over eating, and eating when im bored, when i travel.and ive been away from home for over a week.....going on two....shucks.
Oh, I should have mentioned not to get the ones with calcium. I've read that if calcium is taken without magnesium it can make your particular problem worse.
Always have me. Drink just the juice. For me it's always pickle juice, stale beer. I guess try it. I drink Claussen Pickle juice. Hell what is there to lose? You get pickles either way.
Justine just eat kiwi's, in the morning two on an empty stomach then another two. Do this every day and believe me you wil go to the toilet :D love from Amsterdam
Get on a probiotic! About a month ago I started taking one called Florajen3 that I got at the health food store. Pill format, which I like. Supposed to be like eating 10 cups yogurt. Yowsa! I was afraid I'd have side effects, but honestly, the only side effect is feeling better! Cheers!
Interesting, because constipation usually comes from eating too much white carby stuff. But if you're eating lots of fruits and veggies with all kinds of fibre, I dunno what to tell ya... Other people's advice seems to suffice :o)
Salt water. It's part of the master cleanse, but if you really need it it's two TEASPOONS of uniodized sea salt to 1 quart of warm water. Sip it. If you chug it, you'll vomit. But you should go within an hour.
You're body usually reacts differently when you all of a sudden change your diet. You can sometimes feel bloated, gaseous or find yourself needing to go often. haha. If you're taking vitamins, certain vitamins cause u to be constipated (like iron). LAUGH AWAY. But your body is just getting used to it. Eat oatmeal a lot for breakfast...it makes u full in the morning and less likely to feel like ur starving by Lunch.
fiber, fiber, fiber, fiber, fiber. If you're too much one way or the other, fiber helps. It's easy to get. There's something like 15 grams of your 25 grams in a cup of beans. Burritos! Good luck!
I am normally a once a week kinda person...but once I eat the rainbow in fruits and veggies, and drink lots of water...I change to once a day! Make a big fruit salad and a veggie salad on Sundays to last the whole week! Makes it much easier to plan if you plan out everything on one day for the whole week. Good luck with the...ummm...digestive problem!
I've been trying to live a healthier lifestyle and have actually partnered up with a great guy who already lost about 80lbs. I've only started recently but I lost 3lbs within 4days of doing this regimine. I eat every 3 hrs to keep my metabolism running, snacks are FRUIT or VEGGIES (maybe a 100 cal pack of chocolate to fix my craving lol). I drink a gallon of water throughout the day and walk for @least 30 minutes 4 out of 7 days. Try it for a week and see what happens. I guarantee results!
Im probably about your size justine, and im trying to lose weight too,
But once, after a very bad hangover, i just drank water for like 2 weeks, and lost alot of weight,
i didnt really eat anything different, but i think it was because the water flushed all the bad stuff out of me, so try that, just drink water instead of anyything else xx
FLAX SEEEED.... I swear by this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have IBS ( TMI ) and I kid you not if you have two tablespoons of ground flax in a smoothie and drink some water it'sgonna HAPPEN!
So it seems everyone else is telling you this, but yeah, coffee. It works for me. I prefer black, but even a latte works, personally.
But on a day to day basis, try to remember to eat fiber and drink water. A lot of the processed "low calorie" foods greatly lack in fiber, which may be the cause of your uhhh... digestive problems.
i know what you mean. conola oil a good option also, esp for stir fry. it heats to a higher temp than evoo and is also considered a "good fat", so to speak. :)
activia yogurt helps with digestion..and its healthy!
also...when you eat a meal that has several portions (veggies, chicken, etc.) you get full faster because you are satisfying several points of the food pyramid. eating a lot of one item will only make you hungry sooner rather than later due to unfulfilled dietary requirements.
some strong coffee will get things moving along fast for me, not a Frappucino or anything like that, just black coffee. Fiber One has put out some really tasty high fiber cereal without too much sugar that might help..
awh poor thing. it's horrible, isn't it? don't take laxatives, they just tear up your stomach. just drink water and walk alot. that keeps up your digestion. and eat lettuce, it cleans your colon.
Papaya is really good for that digestive problem. If you don't really like papaya, you can dress it up w/a little bit of Lime or Lemon juice, & sprinke some suga on it! Yum!! =D
I have a multitude of digestive issues. I eat at least 100% of my daily recommended fiber every morning with some crazy high fiber cereal I have.
Strangely enough a good healthy portion of watermelon can really speed the system up in my experience. If my divestive system is in peril, I reach for watermelon every time. Beats any pill or medication I have ever tried.
I'm in love with yogurt and I top it with fresh fruit [blueberries are really yummy and inexpensive right now].
Ummm...let's see, also, if you take a lot of tylenol or advil, you can work up an immunity to it and it can also upset your stomach and lead to constipation and the like. (Just throwin it out there...it happened to me)

And congrats on the channel makin partener! You all are AMAZING! xoxo
I'm in the middle of having Bronchitis, and what I've noticed for me (different problem, but same food advice lol), anything dairy, BESIDES yogurt, will do nothing but make digestion worse. Plus any meat will tend to do that if your digestion isn't up to par. Also, try to stay clear of super acidic foods. For some reason I've heard (and found out) that makes digestion harder.
I've been taking antibiotics, and that's affected my digestion, so I'd know a little about what you're going through! :)
switch to soy if you can stand it! sometimes when I'm feeling adventurous/don't want all the fat in soy I do half soy half non fat in my beverages. but DAMN, I love soy milk. ours is flavored with vanilla and it is YUMMY.
soy is really not so great if you have any thyroid issues at all. I would drink almond milk, but one made at home. Then you can use the almond pulp in oatmeal or on cereal or whatever.
Ok..I have the same problem and my dr. say to take 1 or 1/2 a pill of fiber a day(Fibercon), a little Milk of Magnesia daily, eat fruits & veggies daily(we all know this part), drink Water(alot) and you must excercise - walking. You have to be consistant or it won't work. Hope this helps. It can be a shock to your system when you start dieting or change food, but if you do this daily your body will adjust. Good luck!
Def drink more water- otherwise, everything gets too "dry", as in compacted and cant move. Excessive alcohol *cough*789*cough* can make dehydration worse down the line.
and p.s. Rum/vodka plus diet coke is only about 70 calories per drink (assuming one shot per drink [8oz tumbler, for example]) I do sprite zero and pear absolut. LOVE!
Good luck moving things along, Justine! Kudos on the portion control win!
I was in the hospital because I had really bad digestive problems a few months ago. I have IBS, I just recently got it. I also am trying to loose alot of weight. The doctor told me to take MiraLax which is just basically a powder fiber supplement I put in water and doesnt have a taste at all. That really helped. But yeah, lots of fiber! Those Fiber One bars are pretty good too. But now because of digestive problems I can't have pop or ANY greasey foods, it sucks.
your on the right track with the prune juice! That usually works for me. Plus I think with or without digestion problems drinking that 1/2-1 cup every is healthy. Prune juice isn't my favorite so i just close my eyes & chug it down! HAHAH
Aww your doing so well! You do look skinnier! Keep up the good work!! =D
A little Milk of Magnesia helps. I have had chronic digestion that fruits, veggies and extra fiber didn't help. Someone told me to drink a spoonful of milk of magnesia once a day for a week, and it really helped.
digestion problems can be a side effect of too much greasy food, or irregular eating schedule, or just a poor diet. one way to eat more veggies is stir fry. it is quick and easy, and eat it with brown rice (more goodness, vitamins, less processed). another way is to shred or slice some vggies thin and put them, like a good half cup of them, on a grilled cheese sandwich. (use good cheese, though, so you can use less of it and still taste the wonderful. and whole grain bread.) good luck! :)
Any yogurt will do the same thing that activia does, don't be fooled by the big words on the package. My doctor told me! But yeah, yogurt is so good to help with digestive problems! I have IBS (TMI), and it does just come down to food quality, high fiber foods, fruits and veggies. I love you guys!
Hehe, a few weeks ago I was having some serious inner issues. Alls i did was take some softners and then I started taking benefiber and I was all better. And not to be gross but try vaseline, only a little bit...works wonders. Good luck!
Here's what my dad told me: Eat a ton of berries! It works! Just go get a raspberry smoothie or sumthin'. And lots of water! And exercise. Walk it out.

There's a method on the side of epsom salt packages, that stuff you use to relax muscles in the bath, that helps you...well, you know...easier.
Also, a meal comprised of nothing but raw fruits and vegetables, plenty of water and cranberry juice on a previously empty stomach might help that.

soy is really not so great if you have any thyroid issues at all.

ya girl! lol sorry im canadian and i've never bought yogurt outside of canada so i wasnt sure if activia was american or not. LOOOL
numaanumaa 2 years ago
Any yogurt will do the same thing that activia does, don't be fooled by the big words on the package. My doctor told me! But yeah, yogurt is so good to help with digestive problems! I have IBS (TMI), and it does just come down to food quality, high fiber foods, fruits and veggies. I love you guys!
