I so miss the Capital Centre and great music. I really felt sad when it was imploded....end of another era. Nothing is the same anymore, those times were special. RIP Clarence.
I was there with my Buddy Rick Probst at the time he was working for WCBG in Pennsylvania and I was working construction trying to get a radio job, man it was a great show as were all of them I saw. Wonder what happened to all the video shot by the Capital Centre, it's now gone but the sound still rings
THIS IS BRUCE - not the "Fat Elvis" crowed pleaser we have today - sometimes its best to let your glory days speak for themselves and know when best to step off the stage
@2JOHNNYT. Have you been to a Springsteen concert lately? The man is sixty years old and will still play for three hours and leave the stage dripping sweat.
@PhoenixRising013 Yeah and a 60 yo man can walk off a football field after a game dripping wet too bozo - its about being on point, shining like a diamond...not eroding into FAT ELVIS... reason to every season
The place was imploded in Dec. of 2002, but I saw Bruce at this arena many times, the first being Aug. 7, '81, and he crowd-surfed during this song on that night as well.
BTW: It was spelled the old English way, Capital Centre.
My first of many Bruce concerts was the very next time he came to this venue, the Capital Centre in Largo, MD, Aug. of 1981, and I remember him doing the 'crowd surf' during this song. I only went because at the age of 20 I wanted to start attending more concerts and I had often heard that no one did a better one, so I thought I'd check it out, but I only knew a few of his songs. By the end of his opening number, Badlands, I looked around and knew something was different. It was an epiphany.
Bruce, the boss, should go down as one of the greatest rock musicians of all time. His band, the E-Street Band, could not have been any more perfect with him. I feel it is awesome that they still do tours together after all these years! GO CLARENCE!!!!
I was at both shows at capital center on the 24th&25. I will never forget that song. He opened with born the run and then played Tenth on the forth song. I sat in the fith row on the floor. Camped out at cap center to bag those seats.
i play this almost every morning to get woken up i cannot help but dance, an awesome performance is on the 2001 madison square concert, 20 minute version
Probably his most under rated song. A fantastic pop style rock song with killer piano licks and sax. Should have been a huge commercial success but wasn't. Will live forever as one of his greatest songs.
This cut alone is evidence that the rumoured proshot from Tampe a few weeks earlier just needs to get an official treatment. Bruce and the band were never better than on the 1980-81 tour.
scooter(boss) and the big mantore the the shit up for years I saw them in Saratoga 86 thousand people I have not been to a concert since because nothing could top that.
It's a pity that Elvis didn't live long enough to see the brilliant magic he created, as shown in this clip. Anyway, to now call Bruce "The Boss" is beneath him. He's THE KING.
RIP Big Man :-(
