It stifles innovation and restricts freedoms. It effects domestic companies too. New factories encourage companies to relocate because of cheaper labour. Where from? Germany, UK, the countries where the grants actually came from? Is that fair? Not really seeing as Government money does not exist, it is simply money taken from the citizens through taxation, who then lose their jobs. So why does it happen? Increased profit margins.

China is substantially richer than it was before the Capitalistic reforms and economy is growing faster than ever. The current economic growth dwarfs the "rapid developments" of the "Great" Leap "Forward".
Before the great leap forward, China was almost entirely a peasant economy. Mao changed this and gave it a strong industrial base. Everything the reforms did was build on that. It's no surprise it was much more. The key factor in China's growth is not the capitalist system itself, but foreign capital, which of course wasn't there in Mao's time.

Another point is some of these third world coountries don't want to change. They like there culture. Now if we would help them where they are at (which we are slowly doing) , then that is acceptable. World has 6.7 Billion people. About 3 Billion live on less than $2 (American) per day. Capitalism is what has created wealth in the major countries that now give of that wealth to help others. America, for instance, has given more out of their earnings to help others in many countries than any other country. Generosity comes from free people giving out of what they have earned to help others. Taking from one group to give to another group that refuses to work has never been a good practice to help the other learn how to help themselves.
I don't know about you but every day I get up and go to work and have for many many years to earn money to take care of my own family and to send to help others. I give a large part of what I make to help others in many countries. If not for what I did for a living over 1000 people daily would have not received very important communication. Give a person a fish you feed them for a day , teach them to fish you feed them for a life time.

Yet the economies of the former Soviet states are growing faster than ever before. If Russia's government wasn't a corporatist oligarchy economic expansion would be even faster.
Economic growth is not a good indication of high standards of living. The industrial revolution had high economic growth, but we all know that the standards of living were worse than in the old guantanamo bay.
In the end it all comes down to what you find important. If you want high economic growth with bad standards of living, free market capitalism is the way to go.
It's not a first worlders vs. third worlders conflict of interests, as the video suggests, it's a very wealthy investors vs. the general population conflict.
As I see it, the result of the modern (and ancient) system of capitalism has only lead to increased difference between those who are poor and those who are rich, in addition to the fact that there are many times more poor people than there are rich.
But this does not only happen at a local level, this happens in societies, countries and even the whole world. So while there may be poor people in a rich countries, the majority there still remain richer.

This sucks. Im trying to write a paper about this subject and for the life of me I can't figure it out. Those against Globalization ( I've also heard it called Neo-Liberalism) point at corruption, poverty, and general inequality. Those in favor of Globalization all just point and say,"Look at these numbers! We've rescued a milltion zillion people from poverty!" But i just I cant see how sending jobs to countries without labor rights could be good for the people.
Well Globalisation can occur under any ideology. Currently it is happening under the banner of neo-liberalism(not synonymous with globalisation). Neo-Liberalism justifies pure free market behavoir and lack of oversight of huge multi-national corporations who at times have proven that they are even more powerful and influential than nation. But that's how the 3rd world gets treated. Except for Horse economies they do well. Horse Economies refer to middle income nations that are almost developed.
The point is that it gives them a choice-having jobs for an excess labor force is far more important than having "labor rights" for the impoverished unemployed in developing countries. The most important right for them is having a job so they can feed themselves and their families. That is their right to choose, if they do not wish to take a job they do not have to. As more jobs are created, labor will become more scarce and wages and conditions will rise. Don't deprive them of that opportunity.

Therefore they will trade. It's the same case even if A makes better wine and cheese than B, A will always focus on what they do best, which would be wine. Globalization is more Government, more red tape, every layer is detrimental to the consumer as more taxes must be paid to oversee the system and taxes are spent inefficiently. It stifles innovation and restricts freedoms. It effects domestic companies too. It encourages monopolies too, look at the drugs industry, cures are found to illnesses and because of patents the price of the drugs is kept artificially high.

Sure, you have a market economy to an extent or only a degree within globalization, but it is being hindered by politicians and bankers who still subscribe to the mercantilist ideology. The quicker we can do away with this thought, the better off we will be.

@mana2432 In Europe for instance, the new East European member states receive big handouts, so they can issue grants for building new factories. New factories encourage companies to relocate because of cheaper labour. Where from? Germany, UK, the countries where the grants actually came from? Is that fair? Not really seeing as Government money does not exist, it is simply money taken from the citizens through taxation, who then lose their jobs. So why does it happen? Increased profit margins.

Wrong. China experienced one of the most rapid developments in modern history under Mao's great leap forward. The only faster one was the Soviet Union's industrialization before WW2 which turned a nation of peasants into a global industrial power. Mao built modern China. It's a myth that China was piss poor until Deng. It has gotten richer, but a lot of figures such as literacy and life expectancy have gone down for the poor in China since the restoration of capitalism.

China is substantially richer than it was before the Capitalistic reforms and economy is growing faster than ever. Before the great leap forward, China was almost entirely a peasant economy. Mao changed this and gave it a strong industrial base. Everything the reforms did was build on that. It's no surprise it was much more. The key factor in China's growth is not the capitalist system itself, but foreign capital, which of course wasn't there in Mao's time.

No. Mao was aware that there was error and mismanagement and took the blame for some of it, but the GLF accomplished its goals and successfully modernized China. There had been famines every so many years. Mao eventually streamlined agriculture, ended food shortage, controlled flooding, and built heavy industry. There hasn't been a famine in China since. I have sources concerning Mao''s role in the famine if you'd like.

The fact that they haven't caused another famine isn't much of an achievement; no first world countries have suffered a famine since World War II at least.

Capitalism is what has created wealth in the major countries that now give of that wealth to help others. America, for instance, has given more out of their earnings to help others in many countries than any other country. Generosity comes from free people giving out of what they have earned to help others. Taking from one group to give to another group that refuses to work has never been a good practice to help the other learn how to help themselves.

I give a large part of what I make to help others in many countries. If not for what I did for a living over 1000 people daily would have not received very important communication. As I see it, the result of the modern (and ancient) system of capitalism has only lead to increased difference between those who are poor and those who are rich, in addition to the fact that there are many times more poor people than there are rich.
But this does not only happen at a local level, this happens in societies, countries and even the whole world. So while there may be poor people in a rich countries, the majority there still remain richer.

I think the problem with this video is that it treats "first world nations" and "third world nations" as homogeneous wholes, with the people of 1st W. countries all benefitting from globalization and the people of 3rd W. countries all suffering from it. It's not like that. The 3rd W. upper classes have, like the Western upper classes immensely benefitted from it. Who suffers from it are the general population of *both* 3rd W. countries *and* 1st W. countries.

Well Globalisation can occur under any ideology. Currently it is happening under the banner of neo-liberalism(not synonymous with globalisation). Neo-Liberalism justifies pure free market behavoir and lack of oversight of huge multi-national corporations who at times have proven that they are even more powerful and influential than nation. But that's how the 3rd world gets treated. Except for Horse economies they do well. Horse Economies refer to middle income nations that are almost developed.

The point is that it gives them a choice-having jobs for an excess labor force is far more important than having "labor rights" for the impoverished unemployed in developing countries. The most important right for them is having a job so they can feed themselves and their families. That is their right to choose, if they do not wish to take a job they do not have to. As more jobs are created, labor will become more scarce and wages and conditions will rise. Don't deprive them of that opportunity.

Asia seems to be benefiting from it. Countries like Thailand, Myanmar don't because of political reasons and social issues. Brunei does, Singapore does, Malaysia does. Japan does. S.korea does, and even China does. Central asia is another story though they are still struggling.

The First and Third World division is itself a product of globalization. It is no coincidence that nations with the most resources are those who have become the Third World. It is also not a coincidence that they are all former colonies. Globalization now refers to the efforts of the first world to "repair" Third World economies through the privatization of their resources. if the First World has the ability to extract the raw materials and profit, will they ever voluntarily give up that power?

First I must say this is a great video. But the message is just so mistaken. I really admire your good intentions, but if you are fighting for the poor and downtrodden you are on the wrong side!
I am from a poor country in rapid expansion. Withing my student community we are fighting for more rights and democracy. But most of all - we are fighting for liberalization and free markets! Our way out of poverty is through production and most of all trade with wealthier countries.

The way this attacks globalization is ironic as hell.
It's upper middle class ignorant spoiled western "counter culture" kids throwing malotov cocktails at WTO meetings, not third worlders. It's the third worlders being ignored who are profiting the most from globalization.
We never went over there with guns. They're trading with us voluntarily. Because their standard of living is skyrocketing. Ignorant socialists in the West have no right to intimidate us out of trading.

Irony is a good word.
Consider that in the 1950-70's it was the left talking about how we must help the poor of the third world. And now, although the right hates talking about the poor, their free trade is benefiting the developing world the most. The left is now more concerned about the working class of the rich world. Interesting shift that occurred there.
