Most of those nasty factories in China today produce goods for export to the West. 50 years ago those nasty factories were located in the West. The West has exported its pollution to China, along with its manufacturing jobs. China today suffers massive pollution, just to supply unneeded goods for ignorant overspending Westerners. New York City used to be just as polluted, and London has a rich history of nasty pollution going back 150 years.

Anyway My dream is now to get off this track and build a new greener lighter life. If you got two strong hands and some will power build your own green home and live mortgage free. Most of those nasty factories in China today produce goods for export to the West. 50 years ago those nasty factories were located in the West. The West has exported its pollution to China, along with its manufacturing jobs. China today suffers massive pollution, just to supply unneeded goods for ignorant overspending Westerners. New York City used to be just as polluted, and London has a rich history of nasty pollution going back 150 years.

We all need to do as much as we can rather than just watch. I gave up meat years ago and haven't taken a plane in years. Being one of the few in debt doesnt help. Anyway My dream is now to get off this track and build a new greener lighter life. If you got two strong hands and some will power build your own green home and live mortgage free. Get an electric car and renewable energy and even grown some food and spend more time doing what you want.

I have been in China and when i got out from the plane in Beijing i was kinda shocked and had a hard time breathing. I am used too a clean mautain air and was really kinda shocking for my lungs. Poor kids, fucking exploting goverment Chinese. There must be 1000x as much cancer compared to Western country's. I am sure that somekind of civil unrest will take place in near future, because of the increasing polarization of Chinese society, also economy will colapse - bubble efect.

The chinese government doesn't have the strict environmental laws the United States does, therefore, they make all of our things. However, this hurt our economy in an irreversible way because we are a nation that only buys and consumes. We do not make anything anymore (with very few exceptions).

If you split up the CO2 emitted from all of China with everyone living in China it will be significantly lower than the CO2 emitted from an average citizen in the US

@guitardudeguy00 Solar farm is not that clean and that practical. 1st expansive, 2nd high maintenance costs, 3rd requires a lot of space, 4th highly unreliable in rainy season, thus needs energy storage -> 5th energy storage is toxic.
But they are indeed building wind farm in massive scale, generating 1,300 MW in 2005 to 25,000 MW in 2009(world 3rd, almost bypassing Germany). And China is the world's largest hydroelectric energy producer. Three Gorges dam is the world largest dam.

- maintenance is tiny compared to a nuclear reactor costing over years.
- space requirement is very debatable
- many high energy users do not have rainy seasons eg Australia, Spain
- energy storage isnt toxic, molten salt or flywheel batteries do not pollute.

On the other hand, they also want to hide it to avoid unnecessary international responsibilities. And a large number of Chinese companies hide their actual income to avoid paying too much tax and they have no way to fix that for now, given the sheer number of new companies in china. Plus they use their artificially de-valued currency for their domestic trade.GDP underestimated

@limabaobao I knew the story. It was an accident. He was evacuating the square but then he decided to go back to help one of his female classmates. And he got too close to a tank.
There were lots of students died and even by-standers, those soldiers were indeed out of control. Once again soldiers were proven to be unable to handle civilians. That's truth not an excuse. But what'd you do if you were a leader, while all you had were soldiers unknowing that they are very untrained trigger happy.

This is one guy acting on his own, making profit by switching labels, not by putting toxic ingredient into the ready-made formula. Outrageously on the other hand, the Chinese company were making fake TOXIC formula by adding Melamine for protein adulteration. What's more? The company, Sanlu Group, was a STATE-OWNED, one of the oldest and most popular brands of infant formula in China.
